Chelsea under Conte | Let's sign the next Hazard, literally.

Last post for the day :( I agree belotti is unlikely to come as I said above I felt that would be a semi realistic but optimum window. Second choice would be lukaku at this point (if we assume morata is going united) or other option is aubemayang/mbappe but again I do not see the board even entering into negotiations with either.

In terms of Sandro I think we definatly have a realistic chance of signing him Juve have showed that they are a club willing to sell for the right price and this has even been echoed further up by the board. If we don't get sandro im not sure who the next best option would be really but I would probably prefer us to switch and go for semedo. Cabalerro as far as im aware is pretty much guaranteed to join as backup and if not basically any competent GK will do. Bakayoko again is coming so not sure on second choice.

Manolas would be smart as he could rotate in and we have more than enough CB options whereas VVD or Bonnuci would demand huge fees and assuming that luiz and azpi keep there spots in the back 3 you would be left with cahill Christensen and zouma all competing for that spot plus the new signing.
 
I would be slightly against paying such a huge sum for someone like Belotti. He's still quite unproven and strikers from Italy don't always make the smooth transition to English football

I know he didn't join the Premier League but Ciro Immobile was highly rated in Italy but scored a total of 5 League goals in two seasons at Dortmund and Sevilla

Lukaku or Morata would be my first choices to replace Costa

Its a bit pathetic. I would call it the minimum expected really.

We need Verratti and and getting Bakayoko instead, need Lewandowski/Aubamayang and are getting a donkey in Lukaku, need Bonnucci and are getting Manolas instead. Worst of all we needed someone like Cech as backup instead we are getting wild willy caballero ffs.

Safe to say we are not shopping at Waitrose anymore and have no intention of winning the CL as long as this clusterfeckry goes on. Abrahmovic should stop mingling with kroenke and john henry and stop shopping at the fecking metaphorical asda.

Manolas/bakayoko/Sandro are all excellent signings. Sure there's better but not so many clubs will do business as good as that. Surely you'd know someone like Veratti is a pipe dream. For the system you employ those all fit in very well, only thing that would concern me is the Striker position. Lukaku/Belotti not sure how either would adapt and there's very few quality strikers on the market best off trying to get Costa's head straight for a year but that seems a non starter at this stage

Anyone PLEASE tell ONE SINGLE reason why it makes sense to sell Ake and buy Manolas.

I'm getting so annoyed with this club. And 60mil on a left back, have we lost it? That same money could probably unsettle Sanchez, Lacazette etc

This team needs goals. We need goal scorers.
 
Sandro is the second best player in the world at a position where there is probably less world class talent than any other. Especially considering the importance of wingbacks in Conte's system, it makes a lot of sense to invest in them properly. It also seems now that Rudiger is signing from Roma for 33m+5m in possible bonuses-he may well be the first choice RWB next season.

Lacazette is a decent player but he'd be a poor fit for Chelsea's system; I'd not be fussed at all if Arsenal buy him since he's 26 and I can't see him aging particularly well as he's so dependent on pace. Sanchez is obviously brilliant but at 60m would be overpriced in my eyes; I'd rather buy Bernardeschi personally.

It makes some sense to sell Ake since he's guaranteed playing time and there is a very reasonable buyback clause in his contract. I'd rather he get minutes than languish, and I can't see him signing another extension if we sent him on loan again.

Marcelo, Luís, Alba, Alaba, Mendy, Rose, Ghoulam, Monreal and an in form Rodriguez are all top class full-backs. Azpilicueta, too.

I think there is a shortage of right backs.

While I agree with this statement, Alex Sandro is comfortably better than all the LBs you've mentioned, bar Marcelo. And he does trump Marcelo when it comes to defensive duties and shielding his side of the field. He'd be an absolutely immense buy and probably the biggest talent to move this summer, if the sale goes through.

He's a good athlete and generally well rounded. But his end product could be better. Especially given the defence that plays behind him, which allows the Juventus wing backs to be more adventurous.

It's a little harsh on Alonso who didn't do a lot wrong last season.

Ake is not as good as Manolas. I understand you'd rather Ake, but from Conte's point of view it makes sense. He is too small to play in the backline with Azpilicueta (both are 180 cm), who is also quite small himself for a CB. That would leave Chelsea at a massive disadvantage height wise. It would be absolutely criminal to sell Azpilicuetta for Ake. Conte did the right thing.
 
Can't believe they sold Ake. After recalling him in January? Madness.

Eh, I think it's debatable. I'd argue the talent pool is deeper at right back personally-perhaps there aren't players who are as good as Marcelo/Sandro/Alaba, but there are more who are of similar quality to each other, if that makes sense.

Carvajal, Azpilicueta, Sidibe, Hysaj, Florenzi, Aurier, Meunier, Walker, Coleman, Semedo, Piszczek, Juanfran, and Valencia are all at least as good as Nacho Monreal if you ask me.

Marcelo, Sandro and Alaba in that order are way stronger than the others. Ghoulam for me is not even a great player let alone top class. How would Monreal be better of Alonso. Personally I think Chelsea would spend better their money on other roles where they need an upgrade. Alonso is not as strong as Sandro but is a very good player nonetheless and Juve I think will only sell Sandro if he pushes it and Chelsea offer way above market value that means £60 m+.

Alonso got 7 goals and 5 assists last year btw

Fair enough. While typing that I meant players like those mentioned. Not the exact player. My mistake while replying to your post.

But we could be getting say Kovacic, Aubamayang, Laporte. Those three would be "like" the players I mention.

Yeah, could do better than the likes of bokayoko. Does look like you're planning to spend big upfront and surprisingly at LB whilst making do at CB and CM. I'd have stuck with Alonso and went higher on a CM/CB but then it's really tough to say without knowing what's going on behind the scenes. Maybe you did go that route and found out the top drawer in those positions aren't attainable and thus went for top quality elsewhere.

I dont think we can go in CL round of 16 with Alonso at LWB as much as we can not go in with Cahill and Azpilicueta at CB. They all will be ripped apart by any decent european side. All three need an upgrade.

We can certainly upgrade, but just please remember that Gary is one of the people who won us the highest honour in club football (not to mention 2 PLs, the EUFA cup and several domestic cups). He's been a loyal and humble servant of the club for 5 years now, and he deserves respect from our own fans.

If Gary Cahill was called Lux Rona or Kray Bratislava or Lucas Doyouwantapieceofme he would be quietly respected by the footballing world in its entirety.

Its not like I want him thrown under the bus or anything. He can be a dressing room leader behind the scenes and a key bench player. I just do not want another JT situation where his personal battles become bigger than the overall team performance.

True I see your point but the market needs to be taken into account. Your looking at a market in which Barca need and want signings the quality of Veratti but so far have deulofeu, United one of the top clubs in the world yet they've signed lindelof at the back as oppose to someone huge? I think the market is pretty crazy at the moment.

I think we are going for Sandro, Rudiger, Bakayoko, Dembele, Lukakau and tbf they are the positions we most need and they are all decent options. Its all well and good saying were miles off competing in Europe and we need the biggest signings but city got pretty far last year with a team that couldn't finish above ours in the league.

I really do not understand why you are all downplaying Alonso who has been excellent last season. Moses needs an upgrade much more urgently than Alonso.

He got better as the season went on, but he was quite average for the first half to two thirds of the season. He got forward more than Azpi the season before, but his passing wasnt great (crossing was better) and he often looked like the weak link in the team and didn't have Moses fiery attacking pace to compensate. Last third of the season he looked really good, but still the player I'd have looked to replace first in that starting 11.
 
Rudiger and Bakayoko will be sealed within the next few days I would expect, so hopefully we can then turn our full attention to securing lukaku (or another striker) and Alex Sandro.

I disagree with you. He was completely dominant most of the season. He just had a rough start due to getting used to the Premier League. He actually got used to it quite fast and has not looked back since. I would say he was one of the best Chelsea players last season and would be a shame to replace him.

We will take him off your hands if you like :p

If we get Alex Sandro I wouldn't lose a moments sleep if he shipped Alonso to you.
