That's the reason why he left us in the first place.
Yep, and at the time he had unrealistic expectations of his true level. I think now, after a couple of years at Leverkusen, and (apparent) interest from clubs like West Ham, he might have realised that being one of a number of options for Manchester United is not so bad after all...

Arsenal: We'd like to welcome our new £60m signing Lacazette

Aulas: We'd like to wish all the best to our £40m departure Lacazette

Aulas: I've also bought a new yacht

Crucial week for United for Woody to fulfil Mourinho's demand of buying most of the players he wants pre-season tour.

I don't get that one at all, Wolves is like the shop window for Mendes' lesser known clients who are stalling a bit in their careers. With all his connections and reported interest in Neves you'd think he could find him a club in the CL willing to take a risk at that price.

The cult of Hernandez on this site truly baffles me.

Good striker and loyal servant. Its not his fault that he was never given more playing time. Enthusiastic and committed whenever he came on but rarely given enough time to make an impact.

Plus John Terry was actually linked with Birmingham City so it is a teeny sideswipe at the club as well.

Of course he'll be pissed off if its not completed by the summer tour. But we're buying big players from big teams who are under no obligation to sell. You can get Lindelof from Benfica by splashing the cash because this is how they make money. Chelsea and Madrid aren't motivated in the same way and moves for Matic and Morata would seem contingent on both teams lining up their replacements.

Hopefully they'll be on the plane come Sunday but I don;t think it can be Woodward's fault if Chelsea and Madrid are playing hard ball.

You wasted 2 paragraphs and 96 words on a Jamie Jackson article.

Woodward is absolutely inept pric, what the fecking hell is he doing at NZ?

We need football director asap before his incompetence at pure football aspects will destroy the club!

Maybe if he had chosen his targets slightly more wisely he wouldn't be frustrated at the lack of progress.

It's an easy article to write and it's not surprising few people lap it up and take it as gospel.

Yet if we weren't trying to buy from the top clubs you would be moaning. City have bought from Benfica, like us and Monaco who seem to sell all the time.

I wouldn't. We should be buying from clubs like Benfica and Monaco, those are the players we should be targeting. Not being held to ransom by Inter Milan and Chelsea for 'good' players at best. Morata would be an excellent signing but dealing with Madrid? Tricky.
