Bellerin, closer than ever to be the first Barca signing of Valverde. Could be closed in the next few days

Why so just out of curiosity?

Why I don't like it or why it's inevitable/logical that Barcelona/fans/Bellerin want the player to return?

Ultimately, I don't like the fit/fee for the player we'd get. Much prefer Nelson Semedo, for example...else Cancelo or Hysaj.

He appears to be possessed by a demon.

There were articles about a week ago, where it was explained how our transfer list works. It was also saying that Perisic was a target in case we didn't make it to CL.
I was thinking - for €30 (what Inter needed) was going to be a good buy, giving us depth in the wings section. But now, I am really confused why are we still going for him given his price tag.
There are world's greatest wingers, there are great wingers and there are good wingers, which he is. Surely we should be targeting wingers that are a level better than him.
If we are to believe Martial is going to step up (which hopefully he will, especially with the competition Perisic will give him), that means we are sorted on the left. But Mikhi, Lingard and Mata our options on the left - we are a bit short on threat/quality on the right.

Say we play a true winger on the left (Perisic) we could put Mata (less of a winger) on the right, which will give license to Valencia to bombard. But if we put Martial on the left, we don't really have a true winger on the right (to me Mikhi is more of the Martial/Mata/Lingard calibre - player looking to cut in and take a more central position).

Given how the Perisic links have continued, I think the rumours saying Perisic was an EL target aren't true and Mourinho was after him no matter what.

We've signed Andy Robertson from Hull? Saw a tweet on another website (don't know how to do anything, sorry).

The bigotry on this forum is unreal. I've spent the last few days coming across and replying to people making gross caricatures and stereotypes of Africans.

There is nothing more I can do than reporting this and if that doesn't work to stay away.

Too often on here, when race is mentioned or implied, there is always a sense of portraying Africans (or people of African descent) in a negative light.

Oh dear, another person coming on a forum who loves to be offended. You must be ageist if you think it's a bad thing to be in your 30s then. I'm reporting you.

No-one loves being offended. He made a good point in my opinion.

Good move for you if true. Definitely better than Moreno, I think he could be quite good in the future.

Update from Skysports -
SSNHQ reporter James Cooper has given us a detailed update on Manchester United's situation, with Jose Mourinho reportedly unhappy about the lack of transfer activity at Old Trafford this summer...

On Mourinho: "I don't think he is happy about the lack of movement on the transfers. We know he gave Ed Woodward a list of options in four or five positions. It's difficult, but they are still involved in these deals."

On Alvaro Morata: "That's something he'd like to do this week. United are back in training on Saturday and go to the United States on Sunday, so Jose Mourinho would ideally like to have players in for that.

"The problem with doing these deals is that the selling clubs are waiting for players to come in to them, for example Chelsea waiting for Bakayoko to come in from Monaco, which would free Nemanja Matic up to United, and the same with Morata, do Real Madrid need a striker?"

On Wayne Rooney: "Manchester United are not in the position at the moment, I don't think, to let Rooney leave, because they haven't got sufficient cover. I think if Morata comes in, then Rooney might be able to leave Old Trafford. He could sit on his deal at United or move to Everton."

If I remember right during the season it looked like Shaw was off to Chelsea, but then there was a big swing our way for a considerable amount of time end of the season and into the window, so not that similar to the Lukaku situation at all.

Despite the things said by Lukaku publicly, I reckon he'll stay at Everton. He's a brilliant footballer but can't see anyone forking out the cash Everton are demanding

Bollox we have at least 4 players who can play where Rooney did and each one of them better than him.

God, could you imagine if after all this it was us funding Everton's spending spree and buying Lukaku for 80-100m. I would not be happy tbh.

Its an absurd amount of money but Morata and Lukaku upfront would be sexy as hell. Morata is perfect for the role of a supporting striker in a 442.

Rooney going the other way?

Been said before, we will need 2 strikers, though, how we would plan to play both who knows!!

Genuine question: How often has Mourinho ever played with two strikers up front together?

Now that would start a whole new debate, Morata or Lukaku, which one is more suited to ManUtd or which player is highly rated by fans.

I would have thought Lukaku. Did Mourinho not buy him for Chelsea as a future Drogba replacement? Good powerful target man for your runners to play off. Martial, Miki and Rashford could have a field day running off his flick on's.

Has he ever played as a support striker? Genuine question as I haven't seen him play this role at all. At Real, the reason Benzema gets preference is allegedly because Morata is a purer #9 and goes for goals as opposed to getting into positions that help Ronaldo get the goals. If so, that's not quite the definition of support striker, surely? As I said, this is not a sarcastic post or anything. Just curious as to what makes you say he'd be ideal for the support role in a 4-4-2 since neither his club nor his country play that formation from what I've seen.

What's the logic here, if Morata comes then Rooney can go? What about losing Zlatan?:wenger:

Occasionally at Inter maybe? And also in that disaster that was the attempt to fit Sheva in at Chelsea... Not exactly the most glittering track record to suggest he's in any rush to play 2 up top again...

He also sold Lukaku as he didn't make the grade but was insisting he was ready for first-team action. I don't think Lukaku is that player you're describing - winning the ball, holding it up, bringing others into play... He's uni-dimensional and that's part of the reason why so many don't rate him highly enough for the top clubs. Frankly, based on the what I've seen (roughly equal amounts of Morata and Lukaku), Morata is the better fit.

Not the track record, but we were going for Griezmann certainly not to play him out of position.
