Very apt, actually.

In the sense that “Woody” to many people on here is a fictional character. They have no idea what he actually does, so they just invent plots in which he’s either a villain (an inept villain) or a hero (he actually decides who we’re targeting in some scripts).
 
How to screw Perez while being on vacation in New Zealand by Ed Woodward. We're still getting Morata.
 
This all seems a little too good to be true. Hope we're not just being used by Everton to push the price for Chelsea. It is as if it all goes through waaaaay to easy.

But Everton doesn't seem like a club that fecks over other clubs without reason. I do think they have something against Chelsea though. This one is a strange one.

And its all good for us. It will tell Perez that what we say, we mean - and we go elsewhere if it doesn't suit us.

Ed is building integrity dealing with other clubs at the moment. They believe us now, when we back away. Looks like we did the same with Lindelöf, and got him cheaper half a year later.

I suspect, Chelsea unsettled Lukaku during the season is the reason. We may show interest, but the more aggressive link with Lukaku has all been Chelsea. It's not just Lukaku but Barkley was also thrown in the mix of rumor. Perhaps Everton felt like being bullied by Chelsea? Beside money, people with money & fame do require respect
 
The great thing about now with Woodward is that while we spend a lot and buy players, we are completely legal in everything that we do. No illegal poaching of kids, no tapping up, no below the table transactions.

Gill did stuff like buy Bebe for 7m when SAF didn't even know him. Hard to see Ed being conned into stuff like that just to please the super agents

I guess they've also been tapping up Stones for ages - who went to City. They seem to have something against Chelsea, but it could also just be because City paid more.

We've also been pretty good to Everton over the years with transfers to and from. A few of our players that didn't make the cut were sold at reasonable prices such as Gibson and Schneiderlin who I think will have a good season for them.
 
Masterful negotiations from Woody. He's just been quietly getting on with business for weeks. Deals like this take time to put together. They don't just happen overnight. And to do so, so quietly, without Chelsea or the media catching a whiff, is very impressive.
 
Couple of days ago, Woodward is a genius.
Now, he's bungled it.

I wonder how this thread will look by Monday...

News then broke that we'd had a fee agreed for a signing, which I brought up to evidence the fact that Woodward had clearly not been sat on a beach doing nothing.

Are you now suggesting that if for some reason the deal gets hijacked or doesn't go through for whatever reason, that will somehow support your dumb ass assertion that Woodward was doing nothing?

I mean, seriously, are you ok?

Proved any doubters wrong again. Since the dreadful summer of Moyes he has been doing a great job and always getting what the manager needs no matter what.

We need to start winning top trophies as the league and everyone will recognize the great job he did here.

With each passing summer, it's also being shown that, that dreadful summer was all on Moyesy. Which most of us suspected anyway.
