Why should ideally expect any profit. The player was bought on a inflated price itself, failed to lived up to the potential and hype and is a bench warmer.This should be a loss deal, expecting any profit is unrealistic.
He didn't fail to live up to his potential. He did very well his first two years. After that he wasn't the shiny new toy anymore. So he was cast aside.

Seriously though, I find it harsh to consider James as a reject when he's more of a misfit really, he just doesn't fit into Zidane's preferred system. Which it has to be said, isn't doing too badly so far....! Yet I still think James has had pretty good impact when he has had the chance, so i don't think any less of him as a player for failing to break into this system, and i still rate him very highly myself. I would still consider buying him for a wide role here even though he can't get into yours, because to be fair your back up strike force of Isco, Morata and James would easily be most teams first choice forward line. So I think he could be a better choice for us on either flank, regularly offering better quality delivery and more goals than any of Martial, Mata, Mki or Lingard. You see more of him than i do, objectively speaking, would you agree?
Don't think so. Morata is a player we'd rather keep, because he's an important player for us and replacing him would be difficult. James is a luxury fringe player, we already "replaced" him thanks to Isco and Asensio. We're actually interested in selling him, or at least we should be
Because he's still very much a world class player and a difference maker in the right team, and selling for a loss would be stupid. He's not on stupid wages, and even with all the new contracts and the signings of Vinicius, Ceballos and Theo, we shouldn't have any problem financially, at least for this season. Next season he'll be worth like €30M, we should be able to at least break even

He was never an 80 million euro player in the first place. We took a 20 million loss on Di Maria Madrid should take a 40 million loss on James.

He's going with the angle that we paid off his wages for 1 year and basically sold him at the fee that amounted to his remaining wages.

Well we enjoyed his "services" for 1 year. So the wages paid to him were of benefit so to speak for the club. Then the remaining wages were covered through the fee itself, so we broke even.

Any player can 'play' in any position but what really matters is how well they perform in said positions, and, playing as a #10, James is better than all the players you listed.
Even Everton can afford 45 m euros. If a club of the Calibre he wants to join comes in Madrid will ask for 70 m euros and won't close any deal less than that or around.
75m for James? It's quite clear that Madrid don't want to sell players. Clubs need to stop trying to buy players from them. It's a waste of time really. Work with clubs that are going to be serious about selling. I hope we're not going to waste time on this, let PSG knock themselves out.
Well there is no proof of that when he failed to live up the hype and expectations in Madrid with that same incredible high price tag that's why Madrid is selling him in the first place without increasing his wages which the player can earn more in a different country which is why the player wants to leave in the first place.
What level of potential he has or does not have, is decided not by selling party but buying party on how much can he adapt and perform in a new league and new environment and how much of a difference he can actually make in their team compared to competition around. Even next season ideally he will be quoted the same price or little less than 60 m.
No they want to sell to fund a new toy, and expect the clubs to pay the valuation because of the financial strengths of the respective buyers by wrapping a new packing paper of potential around it.
