Manchester city... ffp?

but I think our wage bill has been shredded as well. Rooney and Zlatan alone will probably result in 40 million less on wages this year alone!
More like 70. Rooney alone cost us 40m per year. The main expenses of a club have always been the wages, and never the transfer fees. People should stop talking about FFP and "net spend" in one sentence, because those 2 aspects have next to no overlap. Net spend is pretty much irrelevant without knowledge about the wage structure.

How do you know Rooney cost us that? Plus all indications suggest that Zlatan was the highest paid player in the league last year.

Tad too much, no?

18,5m net was the last wage i read about, give another 1,5 in bonuses or similar stuff, and there you have your 40m costs

That's not right. In the UK wages are always reported as gross but some European outlets report net figures and use gross figures taken from the UK press and report them as net. From what I have read he earned £300k a week gross if all bonuses were realised.

Are you 100% sure about that? In Germany wages are typically reported as net. Makes more sense as well. Wouldn't make any sense what so ever to compare gross wages from a club in England to a club from Russia or Germany

Mbappé won't move.

Monaco has sold Mendy/Bernardo Silva/Dirar/Bakayako/Germain.

The only one player who might move is Fabinho but unlikely at the moment

It's crazy how such a talented squad has been dismantled like that. It will be interesting to see how they cope next season.

City going for the "if you can't beat them, buy their players" approach :lol:

Am I right in saying the finances of all of the clubs under the "City Group" are taken into consideration and not just Man City?

Wages at a guess:
Zlatan = 350k
Rooney = 300k
Bastian = 200k
Schneiderlin = 120k
Depay = 120k

Since Jan we've lost roughly 57m in wages a year. Mind blowing on it's own :lol:

Dismantled is a bit of an exaggeration.

I'm 100% sure that footballers wages are reported as gross over here, just like all wages are talked about in UK. I'm also 110% sure that we don't pay Rooney £750k gross a week. I don't even think any player in China even earns close to that.

If I'm not mistaken only the clubs member of the UEFA are taken into account.

Oscar earns 417k net(!) a week, that's more then 750k gross in the UK.

417k (€) after taxes according to
http://www.spiegel.de/sport/fussball/oscar-wechselt-vom-fc-chelsea-zu-shanghai-sipg-a-1127343.html
and
http://www.sueddeutsche.de/sport/fu...-mehr-als-millionen-euro-nach-china-1.3307987
two serious German newspapers.

I think you misread your article btw, it doesn't say anything about gross. The two German ones explicitly mention that it is net.

With respect, if these papers claim Rooney was on £750k gross, they are not serious. The UK papers will be better placed to get the figures on Oscar for obvious reasons. Looks like the German papers are being a bit slack with their research.

The confusion might come from the UK (newspapers/people) being used to talk about gross wages, when this is not the case in an international context. In an international context it doesn't make sense to compare gross wages.

It does, it says that figures are pre tax except in the cases that are denoted asterick ** , which are post tax, although it says those figures are disputed. They all seem to be Spanish players with most of them being done for tax fraud so they could be net wages after tax dodging I guess. Of course at least three have had to give that money back.

Transfermrkt puts our net spend at £100m for now, we've had quite a few outgoings as well. Add Mendy and Danilo for £76m and we are at £175m.

For simplicity, if you put them on 5 year deals then you're looking at an extra £35m per year on average in the books each season so far. Potential sales for Fernando and Delph for around £8-£10m each being discussed too, Yaya's pay cut alone is like selling a decent player, and the players we've let go out of contract were all signed in our initial spending spree with no doubt fantastic wages.

In reality, the player sales will be recognised in this years book net of their balance sheet value, so I don't think you'll even see a material differences this year, but instead next year you'll be potentially looking at £40-£50m additional cost to offset with revenue each year. Clearly the club feel confident, there is talk of a new kit deal for a start.

The way Citeh are going about their business is nothing short of lunacy. I know you'll get the die - hard statistician, allowing for the wages being taken off of the books to accommodate new arrivals - I can appreciate that. In the interest of keeping things simple - Pep has literally replaced the entire team! How have they possibly completed all of this within the constraints of the ffp?

Also, someone please educate me on a minor detail. They've gone a brought Walker & Danilo (both FB's) and are apparently on the cusp of signing Mendy (another FB). Are they planning on playing some sort of trippy formation, or, has he one of those converted into a striker already?

They have got rid of Sagna, Clichy, Zabaletta and Kovalrov is on his way out. Arguably they need anthor full back to add to those three!

FFP is not about equality. City have the money they spend. Nothing against that in the rules.

No. They as well as you get confused quite a bit with those wages. Oscar wages is net. Spanish players wages is also net. If the mentioned Spanish players really did tax fraud, which isn't proven apart from Messi's case, then it would only be a fraction of what they had to pay in total. So wouldn't change anything noteworthy in their net income..those wages are just given in net. I guess "journalists" from yellow press papers like the Mail get easily confused by different approaches regarding wages and taxes. SZ and Spiegel are the German pendants of the Guardian. They do their job properly, especially if it is about economic issues. SZ has a huge economic section in their paper, with a lot of business experts.

I feel you are badly mistaken. The idea that Rooney was on £750K a week is absolutely ludicrous, that should tell you all you need to know about the reliability of the German rags.

United's wage bill in 2016 was £232m as per the official accounts, this includes all non playing staff, if you believe that Rooney eats up 1/6 of that then good luck to you sir.

Where do they get that money from, that's the point. They can spend how much they want but there's no reasonable explanation on how they manage to spend hundreds of pounds every summer while reporting profit year after year. Even the biggest clubs cannot afford to operate like that, so how can they?
