Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

I do think we are trying to.

Its just that the fruits of that take longer to be seen. And a lot of people lack patience.
We cannot wait ages in this environment to just hope that out scouting will ultimately improve and bear fruits. We have to keep spending well while we improve our scouting else we fall into a trap of becoming a sleeping giant. Once that happens revenues can easily start to fade.

If Mourhino doesn't get minimum top 4 with squad he's got he needs sacking. Perisic + Matic are not going to massively upgrade us.
Anyway I'd rather we have a manager who could get the best out of the players we have (especially young players) than a manager who is focused defensive tactics (Fellaini).
This same manager just won us the Europa and has a CV which would be the envy of most managers in the game. Think we are too blinded by the "need to get the best out of the players" line. You can only polish what's in front of you and if it's the likes of Fellaini what can one do but try and utilize him as well as he can.

That business about young players is if the players are actually as good as fans think they are.

Thought there was 2 pages of new Tweets when I logged on.

But it's just pages of pointless discussion.

The window is so boring no one is even making up Tweets for us to post. Damn.

I was quite enjoying this thread at the start of the window for a daily dose of transfer tweets, quite informative for the decent rumours.

Agreed it has turned into nonsense of late.

Still think we vastly overpaid for him, but yes it was better than 100m.
We will have to overpay in this market.

I think 35 mil for Perisic is too much, but that would be understandable.

But Inter arent even close to that. We paid 26 mil for Micky last year and he is a far superior player(Even contract situation considered)

Our biggest problem has been only going to the market when we are desperate instead of signing before it gets to that. Then clubs know we have no option but to pay. For example, I think we should have been signing a Valencia replacement this Summer and not the Summer he retires. Things like that to a long way in solving our problem.

We have left things too late for a while now. Given players renewals until they can barely run, instead of actually doing some scouting for a younger version. The Perisic signing. I don't have a problem with the money as such. It sounded like we were pretty close. Then they have supposedly asked for Martial to come into the equation. Now they are taking the micky.

Interesting to see Silva's transfer being quoted as 50+25m euros in very achievable addons. I thought that the 43m figure was too low.

Going to dish out some temporary thread bans. Way too much discussion going on. Take discussion and whining to other threads.

5 temp thread bans dished out - ranging from 1 to 3 days depending on number of posts made. K2K spared as, despite the regular posts made, he has posted tweets in this thread too on a regular basis. Cool down the number of non-transfer tweets though. People should stick to a few posts in reply to a tweet rather than going into a fully fledged discussion. If it is that important, take it to a different thread/create a new one if there isn't one.

Simeone could extend his contract

Spurs looking to fill in for their loss of Walker, what happens to Trippier

He signed a new contract a week or so ago. He'd still get plenty of games.

I think it is more likely Spurs stick with Trippier and promote Kyle Walker-Peters rather than signing Aurier.

Why? If he repeats his form feom this season does his price not hold?

Much more likely he won't repeat last season though and his price will plummit - they will probably never get offered more than they will right now for him - on balance of probability.

Football has officially gone bonkers. Kid is talented and he'll maybe be a next big thing but 160 mil.

Crazy, absolutely crazy.

Where is this?

Why are Chelsea even after Llorente? They have Bat man as a more than capable backup to Morata. They also have Remy who's probably better than Llorente.
Remy is leaving, and Llorente would probably give them a different/more direct option up front.
