Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

United
2014/15 - £166m
2015/16 - £132m
2016/17 - £157m
2017/18 - £139m (ongoing)
Total - £594m

PSG
2014/15 - £42m
2015/16 - £98m
2016/17 - £122m
2017/18 - £202m (ongoing)
Total - £464m

You seem to forget that they are only 150m below us because of the FFP otherwise they would have spent much more than what we can, you also forget to mention that we cant match the salary they are offering Neymar. Other thing is when they come and buy a club like united, they wont loan billions from banks and put that debt on the club. Instead they will come and make the rich manchester united FC even richer. The Glazers took over united and made it in 400m £ debt in one night and a big sum of the revenue goes down the toilet paying the interest of the loan that the Glazers put on the shoulders of the club.

I don't know, but Lemar looks like one of those playmaker that starts from wide but tends to move and play centrally, rather than the likes of Perisic, Moura, and even Dembele that tends to stay wide more. I may be wrong, but he looks more suited to those attacking midfielders that play for Arsenal. A Pires instead of a Giggs.

I believe United already have that type of players in Mata, Micky, Lingard even at lesser quality. With the rumour of Perisic, I think Mou looking for a different type that would stay wide and provide both pace and width.

That's why Wenger wants to sign him to play cm :wenger:

Some great news for Liverpool fans to read today - Barcelona have reportedly ended their interest in Philippe Coutinho !

The Reds have absolutely no intention of offloading their Brazil international, but Barca have a jaw-dropping £198m to use to fill a Neymar-shaped hole in their squad - and Coutinho was their number one target.

However, reports in Italy have now claimed that Barca have turned their attention to Juventus star Paulo Dybala.

Corriere dello Sport AND Gazzetta dello Sport have both reported that Argentina international Dybala is now at the top of their transfer list.

Hurrah!

Reds fans can breath a sigh of relief then? We shall see...

Coutinho is seen as the Iniesta replacement than the Neymar replacement. If Dybala is at the top of their transfer list it just means that they won't be signing Dembele.

Italian papers usually chat rubbish anyway. Only reputable source from Italy is Di Marzio in my opinion.

The difference being that PSG owners have actually skeletons in their closets, so they can pay for Neymar.

Yeah, when you have bribed, money-laundered and killed workers to host a World Cup, FFP is like getting a parking ticket.
The saddest truth. This 220m for Neymar is money that should be within the country of Qatar tackling huge amounts of poverty, but instead it belongs to egotistic monarchs who only care about showing off their wealth.

Barca usually do this. Say they're ending interest to get a player to force the move. It all depends on Coutinho himself...

Dybala's not naturally a winger either so neither would be an obvious direct replacement but that's still likely the position they want to sign both for. In fact Coutinho has much more experience playing that role than Dybala. Don't think Barca are interested in replacing Iniesta yet

If Coutinho wants the move, there's nothing Lpool can do about it. Bet Barca are ready to spunk 100m+ to acquire him after getting slapped around by PSG

edit: poverty was probably the wrong word used by them but I assume they were talking about migrant workers who are offset by extremely rich in GDP

In that case I agree. Treating the migrant workers like salves is disgusting.

There's also the matter of countries decide their own poverty line and therefore rich countries can skew the released results. I haven't done too much research into it but it could be the case that poverty is hidden in Qatar and similar countries especially when the abnormally high GDP are the only seriously released numbers.

They can keep him at the club as long as he has a contract. Ideally they'd hope he'd get over it which many players do.

I'm not denying PSG are capable of outspending us and nor am I denying PSG are capable of offering higher salaries. My point was made a complaint that the Glazers were stingy, when they spent close to £600m in the last 4 years, without many big departures. I think it's a common myth that because Fergie and Gill didn't want to pay extortionate prices to players/agents, that it was the Glazers fault. We've seen these past few years it's not the case and when we need to spend money, they are more than willing to approve it.

Regarding not being able to match Neymars salary, I'm not entirely sure i'd want to... The transfer fee and the post tax earnings are crazy and appear to have some dodgy links to the Qatar World Cup etc, I doubt it's all above board but that's another story. I don't think you'll see any other team pay that sort of fee or wages for a top player unless there is something dodgy going on in the background.

Regarding the debt and making us richer... yeah the Glazers approach to buying the club was frowned upon but since they have taken over we have grown an enormous amount in terms of commercial revenue, they are savvy business people and we are earning a shit ton of money from legitimate sponsors who want to be apart of the United brand.

Still we can not compete with the likes of PSG who has very small brand value. What I meant is IF Al-Khelifi had taken over united instead of PSG. United could have grown into a football giant not even Real Madrid and Barcelona combined can stand against. When I say the Glazers are stingy, cause they really are, evaluating the entire period since they took over the club. They started to pay more when the felt the danger of being another copy of AC-Milan and Liverpool.

The Express are reporting...

Gareth Bale has reportedly told his close friend and team-mate Luka Modric he wants to leave Real Madrid.

Does the caf believe this might be true?

Yup. An English rag had a bug and inside scoop on a conversation a Welshman had with a Croat in Spain. Makes sense. Nothing to doubt... what's that?

Express knows about transfer as much as me, if not less.

No thanks.
We're doing more than fine

If Barca comes calling, Coutinho would kick up a fuss, he's no Slippy G. Lpool would probably be forced to sell

Meh. Premium Sport is the source.
I think they were the first one to report our interest IIRC. If it's 6m after tax I can see him taking it, that would make him one of the highest paid in Serie A.
