Disappointing but not surprising. Monaco brought Diakhaby last week and are reportedly going to sign Ghezzal.
Remember your posts about him, you rated him very highly and said he is replacement for first team already.
Not a clue on which position Saint-Maximin or Diakhaby plays, so he is sold because they signed Diakhaby?
He's primarily a RB and his right foot is his strongest but he can and has played LB before. Can't be worse than Darmian.

Thought he would make it at Monaco
He probably asked to be sold, Monaco has too many wide players and he has been loaned twice already. Nice is a great place for him and they need more wide players.

Or we are holding Darmien as cover for both WB roles, with blind or Lindelof able to do a job either side if required as a plan C.

Me too. Think he's got a great future. Loan does make sense if we do get another RB in to some degree but I'd like to see him covering RB and CDM this year especially starting cup matches.

Same. Regular minutes won't do him any harm but I think he's already good enough to deputise for Valencia and our other options at RB aren't particularly convincing.
Players like Tuanzebe, Mitchell and McTominay are the ones I think are more in need of a loan.
Mou said last season he wanted to rest Valencia more than he had done, but did not have any other suitable RB's in the squad. Playing TFM there during pre season without using Darmian there suggest he does not see Darmian as backup RB.
Further we have been linked to at least three RB's in the past week. No coincidence I think.
If true, it sounds like we may have given up on getting Fabinho
So, do we think (making the huge assumption there is any truth in this) that this would be as general cover for most of the midfield, or is it more likely Mourinho sees something in him for a particular position?

Good move to loan Mensah to Crystal Palace. He wasn't gonna displace Valencia and hopefully he'll be a regular under his former Dutch boss.
I think the loan moves for the 2 youngsters are great moves, will get good experience and hopefully come back and ready for the first team.
Mundo Deportivo are running with story. Not sure if they're quoting Don Balon though..
I wouldn't be surprised if he's loaned out to gain experience in a position that we can't afford to give him minutes in. No point in having him as cover for rb if Jose doesn't see him as a rb
