Premier League weekend fixtures 11/12/13 August

Not happy with that first half at all. Just the same as last season but the only improvement is that we have competent full-backs.

Way too early.. that City side is frightening.

Fair enough it's only a close coming Kompany injury away from leaking a few goals but you'll outscore most teams once the front men click unfortunately.

Even though City haven't scored they look very good, clearly have another gear to go up and so many options from the bench :nervous:

It seems like Agüero and Jesus aren't working well together. Both are making similar moves, making it easier for the Brighton defence to deal with them.

I wouldn't be surprised if Agüero comes off for Bernardo Silva or Sané. That'll make City more threatening and less stale going forward.

So at what stage will you concede that PG is indeed not the chosen one??
I don't think I've ever considered him to be the chosen one. He's a great manager and I'm happy to have him but you're being needlessly hyperbolic.

City will definitely win the game but they will always be susceptible to counter attacks with the way they play. Even Pep's Barcelona and Bayern teams could be beaten if you set up to hit them on the counter. The key is not to just sit back and invite pressure though.

I honestly expeted City to thrash these. They look awfully ineffective so far.

Look a bit like us under LVG. Peps tactical influence. Like seeing it :). Sane and Sterling can change things up. They have little movement and pace up front for De Bruyne to link with. I think it will end 2-0 to City still.

So lethargic so far. We need to add a little pace at the front. KDB having a nightmare and whenever he plays poorly we're always toothless. Could do with pulling Stones, no need for 3 CB's. Sane for Stones or Otamendi and we should get the job done.

I just went to put £4.5k on city winning this at 1/4 but for some reason the money wouldn't transfer to my William hill account. Im either going to be happy as a pig in shit or totally pissed off I could have pocketed over £1k by the end of this match.

Are you in the habit of betting insane amounts of money? Or did this one just strike you as the biggest banker of all time?!

Sane and Sterling were probably the best thing about Pep's disappointing first season, definitely need to bring on one or both of them early in the second half.

You being serious??? Do you really want me to quote the majority of your compatriots from Bluemoon?? They even have a City to score the most goals in a PL season ever thread! It's not me that's getting carried away!

Surprised to see this is 0-0. I was expecting a mauling by City. Still time for it to come yet I suppose.

You're saying "compatriots from Bluemoon" like I wasn't banned from there four years ago for expressing opinions that were considered to be "pro-Rag". I came here for reasonable discussions. Don't make me think I was wrong to come over.

Used to have a problem but stopped after a bad loss a couple of years ago. This looked like a cert after the opening 15 but I'm glad it didn't go through now if not for the fact the odds have improved massively at half time. It's reminded me why I stopped gambling because even if I won today I'd keep going until I eventually lost. Money is back in my savings!

Let's remember Brighton had the best defensive record in the Championship last season. It is not easy to score against them.

Davy Pröpper's passes have been quite poor today. He seems really nervous in his performance, but there is some promise to his game.

This is setting up nicely for a sickening winner from City in the final minutes, as exhaustion finally gets the better of the Brighton backline.

Glad to hear pal. I hope you can stay away from it, it's a killer of an addiction!
It's bad enough in fantasy football when a gamble doesn't come off, but losing serious coin? No chance!

Not sure if this qualifies as a post on topic, however i need to thank @GifLord for the amazing efforts he takes every weekend in uploading the highlights of every match. Fantastic stuff. Thanks a lot Giflord!

City should replace one of Jesus or Aguero and put in either Sané or Sterling. They should score comfortably if they do that.

Brighton will struggle for goals this year I think.

Probably, but not the game to judge that on! Anymore than saying we'll struggle from barely getting the ball for massive amounts of time v Madrid!

or be brave enough to make the wingbacks just pure wingers, maybe Sterling and Sane.
Not like teams like Brighton are going to pummel them!

Don't speak too soon lads, hope I'm wrong but I expect city to score at some point and then the floodgates will open.

1 goal will quickly turn into 3 or 4

Thanks mate. I've learnt my lesson this time. I lost £10k of money I couldn't afford to lose on Utd a couple years back and I promised myself I would never feel like that ever again. The sickness of losing outweighs any high from winning big x100

This has been an awful, awful game. Putting me to sleep. City metronomic passing, but little penetration, and Brighton with virtually no attacking ability at all.
