The issue may have been systemic, but after Trump became President, these groups feel that whatever they do, they can do it openly without any consequences. Every time these people have caused a disturbance, the president has come out with a weak reprimand.

Did he say that recently? Because as I said, the label alt-right is far less ambiguous now and doesn't include right wingers who aren't interested in racial politics, which wasn't the case when he spoke of wanting to give them a platform.

Anyway this discussion has gone far further down the rabbit hole than I ever intended and I don't particularly enjoy defending Trump and Co. so I will likely bow out now.

Sultan is right, but he is also wrong. Jihad literally means struggle. Why he is right, Jihad can be an internal struggle, or an external struggle, or it can be a defensive holy war against Christian invaders in the 11th century. Why he is wrong, words, unfortunately, become contextualized by their usage. Jihad is one of these words, where the complex meaning is lost in a simplistic interpretation. However, when the groups using the word in the manner they use the word becomes widely accepted by society as a whole, then that meaning becomes enshrined. When these heretic Islamic sects call themselves Jihadists, say they are practicing Jihad, and the entire world reports that they are in fact Jihadists and their war is Jihad, then guess what. It's Jihad, rightly or wrongly.

It's a little bit like the word "Blitzkrieg". Would you all be shocked if I told you "blitzkrieg" isn't a thing. It was literally an adjective that was used to describe a style of warfare, that became enshrined in popular culture as a strategy and doctrine.
 


See, this is why the Clan wore hoods. I must admit I commented yesterday about how stupid it was for these morons to not wear hoods, or some type of mask. Well, this is why.

All of this is pushing the limits of free speech and freedom of expression, the irony here being that the people these racists hate so much other than people with different skin colour, are the people on the left. The same people who fight daily for everyone to have the same rights, the same freedoms and the same treatment wherever they go. The tolerance shown by many so called snowflakes is often never appreciated and quite often thrown back in their faces. I just watched a video of some of these racist loons shouting that God had sent them to cleanse the USA. Fecked up doesn't even begin to explain it.

No question but the premise isn't really whether Trump is making matters worse rather that this problem has long been a problem. So it's great to pile on atm owing to the clown Trump is but its naive to think he somehow is responsible for it - it'll be here & a problem long after he is gone

Yeah, and I am absolutely convinced that was a WUM. That aside though its slightly different as he is a politician and has vast political experience. He's an absolute feckwit of the highest order, but he's also very astute in many ways too. I do get your point, but there's a huge difference between Boris and Trump. Trump's approval rating in the UK is somewhere between 18 and 22% depending on what polls you believe, no way would he win here. People see through him here far more than they do in the USA. Actually, they do everywhere in the world :lol:
