Barcelona 2017/18

He admits he believes he did. Football players aren't doctors, and even less so back then. If their doctor gave them pills to take, they tended to take them no questions asked. Agricola was doping the players without the players knowledge
Creatine is not a banned substance, not even close. Who gives a feck?

This rumour of Paulinho signing.....sigh. I mean Seri has a clause of €40m and is infinitely more suitable for our system but they go for Paulinho?!!?? On top of that look at our midfield options

-Iniesta
-Busquets
-Rakitic
-Gomes
-Sergi Roberto
-Rafinha
-Denis Suarez
-Samper
-Alena

So why has nobody been offloaded yet? The wage bill is stupid enough as it is but surely you'd want to sell before buying more players? Gomes has to go but this incompetent board will probably keep him. If I'm Rafinha I would be looking for a new club, injury prone and if he wants any chance of making it for the WC next year he needs minutes. Selling Arda is a priority as well which I believe they are working on now with bids from Turkey.

Ridiculous transfer window from Barca so far, absolute shambles.

The speculation on the inexplicable Paulinho transfer is linked to Bartomeu's shady dealings in China & the link to the Brasilian's club Guangzhou. Shocking transfer of course but in line with the corrupt & inept board, hope the socis wake up

Paulinho isn't as bad as some people are making out because people are judging him entirely on his performances at Spurs.

It would still be a completely nonsensical transfer though. 40 million euros + a 4 year contract for a 29 year old coming from China? :wenger:

Just read about Paulinho. Carragher can explain it for me:

Seriously, Barca have completely lost. They are doing exactly what Liverpool do: overpaying overrated players.

Can't believe they have actually signed Paulinho. Baffling.

I never believe a signing has been completed until I see the player holding up the shirt.

In my nightmares.

But who knows, I remember back in the day, when we signed Deco, lots of fans were like "why?" wondering if he and Xavi could work together, and that worked out. :wenger:

and you can still have this so you never know for sure :D

That is madness but this is trap they've set to themselves

Yeah, seems like no one really cares.
Last 6 Supercup winners haven't won the league. I'd imagine a bunch of people who are superstitious about this stuff don't particularly care what happens.

More than the Supercup, a classico usually raises more interest IMHO. Hardly anybody around me mentioned this match.

Goes to China for ten million pounds. Signs for Barcelona for 36m pounds, two years later.

Astonishing.

He isn't bad at all but he doesn't fit at Barca. This has high flip potential. If they wanted a Brazilian midfielder, there is a couple of prospects they could of gotten for less.

Wtf are they doing?

Paulinho? Their transfers have been shocking the past few seasons.

Haha, you know, every time I say this, someone always shows me something to do with Mikel. Damn him.

I'm certainly hopeful for tonight. I could accept not winning the trophy as long as we win one of the matches, because over the summer the all time head to head would have went up by one in our favour. We're still scrabbling around for players, so God knows what will happen.

Spanish Supercopa 1st Leg
They're a mess.
Squad is a mess and about to sign Paulinho.
Their board needs sacking.
Doing their level best to go back to the wilderness.

Wow, getting embarassed by Real at Camp Nou, conceding a third whilst Real is one player short. Surely they'll get the deals for Dembele and Coutinho done soon…

What ever happened to their great youngsters? All of them seem to go elsewhere and only some of those are any good.

Obviously very soon to say since they could surprise us all and storm La Liga or something, but feels like the first time in a very long time where they've been a fair distance behind Real Madrid quality wise. Probably since the pre-Pep era.

I'm loving their demise.

Demise is a bit of a strong word considering, man-for-man, they'd probably beat out most sides in the world, but it's definitely the weakest they've looked in a long, long time.

Real has outshone them on the transfermarket too. Snatched up the likes of Asensio a while ago and Ceballos etc.

Their squad is awful.

Still think the team looks better under Ernesto? @FCBarca

They need to make signings and fast.

It´s funny how everybody was laughing at the Chinese, but they were just ahead of the game, making all these bargain buys.

I've said it once and I'll say it again. Pique. Is. Not. Good.

Pisses me off that people had the nerve to compare Barcelonas defense to ours.

Yeah, struggle to see them replacing Neymar at all really. Coutinho's a very good player, for example, but not sure he's anywhere near enough if Barca want to catch Real Madrid. Which isn't a problem in itself; all sides need good first team figures who aren't quite as good as the very, very best, but for the figures being quoted I'm not sure he'll add anywhere near enough.

Tomorrow they are gonna splash the cash for Coutinho and Dembele. They badly need them.

You think they are going to sign both? Tomorrow's Kicker will apparently state that Dortmund demand €140m-€150m (Barca's offer supposedly standing at €85m+€20m) and I don't see Coutinho being cheap either. Together with Paulinho they'd potentially be looking at €300m or more.

Meanwhile Real signed Asensio for spare change.. :wenger:

As a Barca supporter I'd be worried.

With 250 million to spend in the next 15 days how would one solve their issues?

They have both a personnel problem and a tactical problem.

If they plan on buying Dembele for the left wing and Coutinho as a Iniesta replacement but they still use this formation with Messi in the middle and noone on the right then they still won't be good enough imo. Messi behind Suarez with Dembele on the right, Coutinho on the left cutting inside and Alba overlapping seems a lot better to me... but the problem is they might not be able to get even one of them

Any great team needs fresh blood and new players.

3 new acquisitions in the next weeks are required to revive the team IMO

I don't think Seri is good enough for them. He's a decent CM but would lose the ball too much for a Barca CM.

Pep Segura, Barça's director: “Piqué's error changed the whole game. It destroyed our flow.”

Good idea to publicly point the finger at someone who is probably their most active player on social media.

Not really. Their defense and midfield is subpar. Their forwards I would agree with to a certain extent(Messi and Suarez)
