Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

To be honest I think reports that we were in for him were probably bs. While undoubtedly he's a world class fullback Jose has repeatedly said the the atmosphere and togetherness of the group is extremely high. Signing Aurier would be a huge risk of upsetting that balance, not only because of his previous attitude issues and issues with Ibra but also because it would mean displacing Valencia who was our captain on Sunday and by all accounts is one of our leaders on the pitch.

Paris United were the only ones reporting and Jose has also said many times he wants one more player to play on the wings and that almost certainly would be a left sided player

Looks like Barry is well on his way to clinching the all-time Premier League appearances record then

Aurier and Tottenham, according to the player’s entourage, have a broad agreement on a five year contract for the player. There’s now ‘95% agreement’

Chelsea are keen but not as prominent as Tottenham right now, and contact with Manchester United is ‘blurred’…

Aurier has a legal case pending, an appeal against a prison term for violence against a police officer.
There’s no guarantee that will all be sorted out in good time ahead of the window closing.

so many claims about him this summer, seemingly being pushed by the player’s entourage, that it’s impossible to work out which bits are true and which bits are what his entourage would hope to be true.

Looks like Rose' comments and the squad backing him have kicked Levy into action.

He'd be so thick to go to Spurs now. Fulham have a real chance of challenging for the league/promotion and he's first team for them.

Is it just me or are Spurs looking like they are having a sudden knee jerk reaction to criticism of not signing anyone?

Or are they playing the market expertly?

Expertly? Have you been impressed with who they have been linked with? Apparently they always sign players late August.

Has anyone been linked to Bertrand yet? He'd be a huge upgrade for us, Chelsea, Arsenal or Spurs (should they offload Rose).

Some have the Chelsea fans in the tweets have inflated the Matic fee to 50m

By the end of the season we will have paid 100m with any luck

Not sure why they are so salty they lost out on Lukaku and Matic. They did us over with Hazard. Accept it and move on.

Tbh their salty tears are worth 10 million alone

Came here to say exactly the same. They probably need some more depth with European matches upcoming this year but for that kind of money they could look for actually improving their first 11 too.

Agreed. Drinkwater's not bad, and would be a decent enough squad player, but I'm struggling to see why they didn't just stick with Matic.

It's arguably his best position and the position he played in regularly before last season.

He looks good in DM as well. Quite the talent to be that good in such differing positions. Would be good as it would give us tactical options in both those positions. We do need at least some competition for AV and ultimately a replacement. Although as some have mentioned we can chuck a temporary stop Gap in there it wont be of the same quality and we will be weaker for it.

Lol ... you seem to imagine that Spurs didn't otherwise plan to sign any players . I doubt if Levy gives a flying feck what Rose does or not think.

As for Rose, the squad didn't back him. I hear that he got a frosty reception.

That's not what pretty much every single newspaper and media outlet in the country reported.

He was seen as a bit of a hero for having the balls to speak out - they all know they are undervalued compared to what any club signing them would pay.

Why do you defend Levy so much if he is wrong somewhere there is no harm in admitting it like your other fellow spurs fans do.

They must be livid that one of their colleagues essentially asked for a pay rise... But not just for himself.

I hear from my ITK he got a rousing reception from everyone the next day at the training ground.

Wilshire to the Championship?

Probably about the level he can expect considering his injury record.

Doesn't really matter though since that's not what's being proposed
Other leagues will follow suit. If it doesn't happen that way anyway, premier league clubs would be ridiculously stupid to allow situations like you've said to happen.
