Supercopa de Espana | Real Madrid / Barcelona

Our defeat to Madrid in the super cup doesn't seem as bad now that they're humiliating Barca

They're getting dismantled. Madrid look like scoring every time they get the ball.

benzema looking great tonight

Man, I really don't know which team can knockout Real Madrid in the CL. This Barca certainly won't, Juve lost Bonucci and Higuain will choke, Atletico always bottle it against them in the CL. Is it gonna be an English club? Can Bayern take revenge? A Neymar-inspired PSG?

 You never know, you signed Barca's wonderkid too.

I don't think Bojan ever showed anything like what Asensio has in the last 6 months. When he joins Stoke I think it'll be at least three seasons before he's sent out on loan again, he's that good.

Zidane has improved Real immensely. Even without their two most expensive/dangerous players, they're ripping Barcelona to shreds.

Modric is a joy to behold. What a footballer.

I think Barca is mainly in state of shock due to the sell of neymar and the whole team is unsettled due to that transfer going through and I reckon none of them actully wanted to see the transfer go through and i don't believe that any of them believed it would go through before it was to late so all of this comes probably as shock to them or unsettled the entire team.

I don't think they have realized what happened nor have they moved on from such a disasters transfer which was against their interests and they absolutely didn't want that transfer to go through by any means necessary and it seems like the club's hand have been forced or let me put it this way it was a transfer by force rather then anything. Neymar was forced out of their hands because they didn't want the money and he was valuble to them.

I think the only way they can move forward and get over this unfortunate incident is to buy 2 or 3 classy players and I won't mind seeing Dembele, Coutinho and Hazard all 3 joining barca in this transfer and I have been hearing rumours that it seems like Hazard is the closests of happening right now then they can follow up with Dembele then coutinho then I think barca could come out of this incident as the winners.

Barca is in state of depression due to the neymar transfer and the media circus that followed which have unsettled the players and coming into this match the team was low on moral and the same with the fans. It is as if a funeral happened in the camp nou in this period of time but as time moves on and new players come in things will comeback to normal again but they have to act quickly before the window closes and they still have time.

I have no doubt in my mind barca would have beaten Madrid if neymar was there and the whole incident didn't happen then barca would have come in mentally prepared with high moral but the entire timing of the match didn't even fit barca. This was the worst timing for barca in any classico match and even the madrid players knew this that they were playing against a wounded and depressed barca team with low moral..

I called it on before hand

This is the Messi we get in the National Team. Can you see now why not everyone bend the knee for him?

No Isco as well.

Yeah, either Bayern or PSG.

Barca these days has too many average players. S. Robert, Alba, A. Gomes, Umtiti and even those that looked good in the past like Busquets, Mascherano and Piqué seem so far of their best it's kinda strange.

Hell not even Messi and Suarez look up to it tonight. Did PSG taking Neymar off them really break their spirit that much?

They're just so much better, aren't they? This team really is the blueprint of how to go from strength-to-strength when you're at the very top.

This is what we failed to do after the CL win in 2008. We should have gone on to be unstoppable for a few years. Yes, that Barcelona side in 2009 were amazing but if had signed midfielders that summer before we would have coped better. We also didn't replace Ronaldo properly when he was sold which was another big mistake. Yes, we continued to have league success because SAF was a genius in the PL but we never as strong as we were in 2008.

Only messi and Suarez would get into united

Modric and Benzema have been incredible. This game is giving me flashbacks to when Barca gave us the run about in the CL final.

Hope we finally get to see a bit of Ceballos tonight.
I am also looking forward to seeing him, and Theo too. Maybe in the second half, although with Bale,Isco in the bench...

No joke here. Barca needs a whole new midfield.

100%. Rakitic should be good enough as their third midfielder but at the very least they need a challenger for Busquets and Gomes is just...

Wonder why Valverde won't just chuck Alena in there? It'd please the fans, freshen up the midfield and couldn't possibly be any worse than what they have now.

No doubt they're being made to look worse than they are at the moment though. It does seem like they're in some kind of mild depression about losing Neymar and doing nothing about it. They're visibly in decline and apparently aren't able to arrest it. That's pretty demotivating.

Still think they will look better once the "actual" season starts.. feels like they are still in preseason. Still the difference shouldn't be as big as it is but that's what you get if you have a squad like that.

I don't think Messi/Suarez can play together anymore. Suarez seems to be declining fast and both walk around when not in possession.

Maybe a different system would hide that somewhat.

They need more width in their attack.

It would be great to field them while they bring in Paco Alcacer, their fans are gonna go love it.

As good as Real's team is, looking at both starting elevens there's no way there should be a gap this big between the 2 teams today. Valverde got his tactics wrong, I still have no idea what he's trying to do with this Barcelona team.

Humiliating first half for Barcelona. Strange decision to play a new formation (I'm guessing it's new the way they're playing it). With Xavi, Alves, Puyol long gone and Iniesta on the wane, Barcelona have lost some huge figures last 4 years or so. Mascherano must be in his last year too, Andre Gomes hasn't gotten close to filling anyone's boots there yet and it's not certain he will. Add to that there seems to be no one coming through La Masia.

And Madrid are excellent, tough time for Barcelona. It's only the Supercup though, which will hopefully stop a few Cules from topping themselves tonight.

Absolutely. At times, I want to caveat Madrid's success by saying things like 'their rivals aren't really that good...' but it doesn't disregard just how comprehensively better they have been than everyone else, two seasons straight! Crazy how they've lost two phenomenal squad players like James Rodriguez and Alvaro Morata, yet their bench/second string attack still looks more than good enough to seriously compete at the top.

It's like all the poor planning and bad decisions of Barca have all come to fruition at the worst time now with Suarez declining rapidly, aging midfield, worsening defense, squad quality lacking, losing Neymar etc; and to rub it in it's came at a time when Real are at their highest confidence, performance and consistency peak in an incredibly long time and it looks like the gap will get larger the next year or two and then Messi will inevitably turn human.
