Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

£49k a week for arguably the best CB in the league does seem real low. I wonder if Lindelof is on even more than that for us now.

I absolutely abhor the way Spurs pay their players a pittance compared to what they're worth and what they clearly value them at in terms of transfer fees, I hope it all comes back to bite them on their arses sooner rather than later.

Would be very interested in knowing where they find that kind of money.

That's minimum wage in the football world of 2017.

 I know we'd all love to be on £50k a week, but considering he could probably get into any team in the world that's criminal, I'm expecting spurs fans to jump on my back saying how savvy Levy is.

Wasn't there a suggestion that City have a press embargo that can't be lifted until 10:30pm tonight?

Here we go with the press embargo again

All press conferences have an embargoed section for tomorrow's newspapers so their stories aren't all online the day before, it's nothing new or unique

Don't shoot the messenger! Hence the use of the word 'suggestion'. :)

Can we please get some news to kill these Messi claims? Would be horrific to see that. The greatest player ever arguably signing for... City. Excuse me while I'm sick everywhere.

No way Barca will lose both Messi and Neymar. Their fans would want Bartomeu's head on a plate. 100% a pipe dream.

Wont happen but if there is a buyout clause there is nothing they could do about it is there?

Messi himself won't leave, as it would mean he will tarnish his image and rapport with the fans. He values his Barca legacy. Maybe he will leave in another 3-4 years, but not now, though he will likely make occasional threats to up his salary.

Yep. Levy is a wanker.

What an amazing attitude! You deplore a club chair for successfully keeping the wage bill down, even though at the same time the same strong first XI has been mostly kept together, contract renewals have continued to be signed and the club continues to attract talented players.

Do you think he should pay out more just the hell of it?

If we're not all over this we need a swift kick in the cnut!

Also, didn't Glaston say they were all happy
I get the feeling the news is only breaking because Chelsea are playing Spurs today. It seems more like Castles is still on Chelsea's payroll to unsettle Spurs players.

Same place as PSG found the money to sign Neymar, they don't give a crap about FFP.

PSG did not already spend 200mn before buying Neymar. FFP is toothless but it is not this dead that it will allow city to spend more than what any club in football earns.

So City have already spent over £200m and now are gonna spend an extra £300m in 1 window? FFP, eh?

The strange part about paying £300m for Messi is he will be worth every penny for them. He will put them on the map because of his name and will probably win them a CL, again bigging up their name in football.

Even with Pep they're still irrelevant but this could reshape their history. Time to see how loyal Messi really is.

Weren't there reports about Messi and Pep not getting on? Particularly in that last season where Pep seemed to fall apart and need a year off?

Links between Messi and City seem like lazy hacks putting things together because of Pep, but if they did fall-out then that would make it even more ridiculous.

I cannot see Barca being happy with Messi leaving. Plus €300m is a hell of a lot of money. I cannot see it materialising this late in the window.

Things go fast in football, Messi isn't daft, he would ask for world class players to replace Neymar and Iniesta but if they don't come, he will choose to leave.

Neither can I. Just sensationalist rubbish.

I initially liked a the idea of the transfer window closing earlier, until it was suggested that it would apply to purchases only.

Yay, let's lose players without being able to replace them. Who comes up with these ideas… this one is beyond stupid.

Once you've over doubled the last transfer record, anything can now happen. Remember when we saw the figures for a players buy out and think it was ridiculous....we'll think again. Messi 300m, I can def see it happening....
