I think he could fill Coutinho's role just fine. Less long range goals but better passing and work ethic. Monaco played a 442 last year and he was on his natural wing, not inverted, so you're not talking about going from wing forward to central mid, from wide midfielder to a fairly attacking mid in a 433, and lots of guys have done that seamlessly or improved there, especially in a pressing system, like Lallana or Kampl did.

There will be a meltdown of epic proportions. Even if they decide to panic buy, who do they turn to to save their season?
 
I guess Barcelona is waiting for Liverpool and probably Dortmund to find Coutinhos and Dembeles replacements before announcing both.
 
How do they plan to buy Lemar and Keita and still fit everyone in?

I'm guessing, if you have to register a player you may need a medical to do so. This maybe like an advanced registration? I have no fecking clue.
 
Giving a player a medical a year before signing him makes no sense.. what happens if he breaks his legs in March?
 
Liverpool get the player they wanted, Leipzig keep the player this season and get good money certainly more than his RC. Good deal for all parties.
 
Or maybe just to make sure he doesnt have some undetected condition..
They'll probably check his teeth :D
 
So weird for RB not to hold on till next summer to sell him, he'll have much better clubs after him after being in the CL too. Seems weird to settle for Liverpool.

He's a good player and a good buy, but I'd struggle to say £48m+ not to sign him for another year is good business.
 
Cracking signing, it has to be said. Fecking Liverpool look up for it. Was hoping they'd do an Arsenal and sit on their money.
 
Either way, fair play to them for getting it done. Keita is a hell of a signing for any club aspiring to win the league. If they nab Lemar too it won't matter where they'll all fit, the abundance of quality in the squad will be good for them.

My concern is more about the medical, not the fee that they are paying. Unless it's a formal procedure, it's weird that a player is having a medical for arriving a year later.
 
He has a clause that kicks in next season. The player wants the move. Leipzig cant prevent him from moving next summer for a certain amount. Looks like Liverpool just offered them a little more than that decided to wrap it up now.
They clearly think other clubs might be in for him next summer..

If that is the case, then I wonder why the player would agree to a move now.. Surely he'll be in a stronger negotiating position next summer..
Maybe he doesnt want to risk it and is cashing in while his stock is high. Not really a great sign that.

That Burnley midfield spot Gudmondsonn is in is begging for a loan like Pereira to take over.

Leicester would be interesting, but I worry they'd just play 442 and go with proper wingers over Pereira.

Swansea could work. Clement can recognize quality and they have little creative talent to get Abraham service.

Bournemouth, in the role Wilshere played, makes sense too. Could see him beating out Arter and Gosling immediately in their 433 or Ibe and Stanislas out left when they go 4411 with King behind Defoe.

My first choice would be Huddersfield. They have started well but they play 3 of Ince, Kachunga and either Van La Parra or Palmer behind Mounie and ahead of Mooy and Billing and I'm sure Pereira would be first choice ahead of that band of mediocre attacking mids, and their manager and his teammates seem decent enough that he wouldn't just be constantly alone like at Granada.
 
Genuinely baffling that he's going to commit to Liverpool when he could potentially have the pick of top clubs next summer. Bad move and he'll regret it.

Yep, it's a weird one. Liverpool should get a good sell-on fee for him when better clubs come in for him a couple of years down the line though.

In what sense will he regret it? As much as I hate to say it, Liverpool certainly are going in the right direction. They made top 4 last season, and imo could mount a title charge. I know you'll respond by saying they'll never challenge with unless they sort of that defence ect, but I just have a feeling that they will do some damage this year.

It appears he just went for the safety net of a big move. He could have waited and if he did well, there'll be plenty of clubs who'd be willing as much if not more money given his 48m clause.

I can't say it's the wrong thing to do, just the risk averse thing to do.

Your feeling won't translate into reality when there is absolutely zero evidence they've learned from last year. They conceded 3 against Watford, Palace could have certainly got a point at Anfield. Beating a shambolic Arsenal team proves absolutely nothing, we know they're good against the better sides.

Keita, if he continues his form, would have far bigger clubs after him than Liverpool. If you're him, why don't you wait and see what the next year holds? Seems bizarre to commit to a long term team a year ahead of time.
