Arsenal won't go the same way as Leeds mate. Leeds ended up the way they did by taking out loans at extortionate interest rates which could only ever be paid off if they were ridiculously successful. Arsenal are the absolute opposite and are risk-averse when it comes to spending money so no chance of you going into administration or worse. It's still utterly shit for the fans though because even the likes of Bournemouth are bigger net spenders so far this window and that's just bizarre whichever way one looks at it.

I honestly think they will improve in their performance and team spirit after getting rid of some of these players who want to leave. They still have sufficient quality to do well. They are just way too distracted right now with players wanting to leave, wondering who's coming in if they left, Wenger getting pressure from every direction. I don't think he's completely lost the team. He just needs to keep the right ones and rebuild some of the team spirit.

Bit too easy to talk about "net spend". For example Kolasinac came on a free, but will be on huge wages as a bosman.
They're just a very stagnant club under Wenger. I don't expect some huge demise like many are predicting, even with a mini-exodus. They'll just be mediocre like they have for years under Wenger and probably finish between 4th-6th yet still progress far in the cup competitions.
People expected them to completely fold after their poor run at the end of last season, but they responded swiftly, won a load of games on the bounce and almost nicked 4th.
Their first team is still pretty good I feel and can do well if they actually want to start playing.

They might improve a little bit at best but we know now regardless that Wenger is done. It's inevitable. The writing has been on the wall for years and we're finally coming to the end.

Totally agree with you. We as fans want our respective clubs to win trophies and want to be proud of our clubs winning things but most don't see that Arsenal have really been run as a business first and foremost while keeping things in check and not let things blow up. When I say not letting stuff blow up, i meant results still kept in check and within reason. I honestly feel that Wenger has done a great job through the years to support how that club has been run. I do also somewhat feel for him as I think he's the face that gets spat on for how they have done season after season. He does share the blame but it's not all of it. It's really down to players themselves needing to perform, players being prepared correctly and set up correctly by him before matches, and the club coming to grips with the new realities of the league and football in general before it's too late.

It seems the money situation at Arsenal might not be a lack thereof, but restriction from EPL rules regarding max salary increases per year. It still begs the question of why the club felt it could offer huge contracts to Özil, Sanchez and Ox as well as chase after Mbappé. I assume the board and Wenger thought they could offload all the deadwood in a timely manner to free up wages.

As i understand, 180k would have been the wages offered to Ox if we qualified for the CL this season. The same is true for sanchez and ozil with many bonuses attached to it, so its not a straight here's your 180k, but here's a small increase but we'll guarantee 180k if you help us to CL.
How the hell does Arsenal not have money? You can look at results as much as you want but the Arsenal brand is fecking huge. United is obviously the biggest brand of the PL but Arsenal are no joke, they're also a massive club. I don't believe for a second that they can't spend.
Cheers. Two to three million next season would be good from an Arsenal perspective obviously. Although we have heard these claims of money to spend in the past. Not that I'm doubting the guys knowledge of course.
As for option 2, it might mean slipping out the CL again even with £200m to spend will the quality of players Arse need come to Arsenal? Everyone else is going to keep strengthening and probably signing the players Arsenal want.
United signed big players but we're Manchester United, can pay big wages and in the case of Pogba he had a soft spot for United and having Mou in charge also helped.
We should start buying like Dortmund: young talents who can become great in few years.
Even if the contracts weren't set to increase until Arsenal were assured a CL place, there should still be room in the wage bill especially since no new contracts have been handed out and we've sold players. Kolasinac and Lacazette's contracts would surely be less than the all the players who have left.
This is assuming that the club's management still have it's best interests at heart...
That's easier said than done though and you will have to rely on being a selling club. Don't forget there's 4-5 strong teams in the PL with big budgets. Bundesliga doesn't really have financially strong clubs other than Bayern so it much easier to break into the CL spots in Bundesliga.
Arsenal would have to restructure the club towards doing and bring in staff who are capable of identifying great young players. The young players who already show great promise are already pricey, there's only so many times a club can identify young players with great potential who cost very little.
Seriously though, surely they should bring in at least 2 players? They'll struggle competing for top 4 with the current team.
