World Cup 2018 Qualifiers

His 40 yard shot straight down the middle of the goal? Is that supposed to be impressive?
That dipping curving shot? Go home, you're drunk. How many people will have to disagree with you before you realise you're talking out of your arse?

Can you imagine Kane scoring goals against Woking & Barrow, which is probably higher opposition than this lot, & celebrating like he had scored against Chelsea or Man Utd. This just shows how dumb international football is, & why they need pre qualifying like in all other football & other sports. Northern Ireland acting like they have won the world cup defeating the mighty San Marino.

Oh feck up, we're two injuries away from starting Jimmy Nesbitt and Eamonn Holmes up front. We enjoy all the wins.

We are still shite. We beat a tiny island 4-0. It doesn't change the fact we are shite.

Rashford is up there with Mbappe, seriously.
Kind of agree. To early to tell who's the biggest talent, but rashford, mbappé, dembele and asensio should be put on the same level imho. Alli and Gabriel Jesus as well

@Mogget Giggs and co are now talking about the impact Rashford has made. So that's everyone else in this forum and the pundits who disagree with you... :wenger:

I'm sure Giggs will be extremely objective.

I said earlier that Rashford was playing garbage and no one disagreed with me. Then he plays that pass and I have about 5 people jumping down my throat saying that he'd been amazing since coming on.

That theory doesn't fall down when he has an ex-arsenal player sitting next to him does it..

You're right, only you can see the light, everyone else has been mindfecked by that tricksy pass.

I'm confused, am I missing something here? This and another comment above about celebrating, all 3 of the goal-scorers barely celebrated at all? Bertrand pretty much just stood still, Kane did a small fist bump to himself and then the players go around to congratulate each other in a pretty subdued way?

Besides, persoanlly, whether I was scoring in a crap qualifier or the WC final, I'd love to score a goal for my country and I don't think there should be an issue with celebrating tbh. Especially if its almost non existent.

Anyway, pretty bloody boring game. Good by Kane and very impressed by Rashford. Do we have players coming back from injury? I bloody hope so because we are not up to scratch really.

Rashford's the best English player, anybody who doesn't agree with that is either an idiot, blind or both. Rashford doesn't need to work on his technique, Alli, Kane, Oxlade-Chaimberlain, etc. do!

I'm with you, in the next breath we will hear complaints that players aren't showing enough passion.

I thought Rashford was poor, except for a cute heel for Walker and the one pass. His pace gave him so much space, but he lacked the finesse to pounce on it. I guess you could say he was better than Sterling. Best player on the pitch though, is the sort of hyperbole you could only read on a United forum.

Rashford was light years ahead of the rest of the players with exception of Welbeck when he came on. Rashford was the only player who made things happen with an individual bit of skill, the only player capable of pulling off the difficult. Welbeck and Rashford should have played from the start and why on earth did England play with 2 holding midfielders against Malta ffs?!?!

He was the best player on the pitch. It was a pitch full of crap players or players playing crap. Rashford was lively, constantly looked dangerous and did a couple of good things - that's all he needed to do to stand out.

Yeah, I've read all that claptrap before I posted.

Am a Rashford fan but that's blatantly wrong. He needs to and am sure he is working on his dribbling and finishing technique.

Rashford was very good in spurts when he came on, but to the individual who said that he didn't need to work on his technique, that is blatantly wrong.
For eg, whilst dribbling at any relative speed, the ball is normally a good space away from his body, whereas, Martial dribbles with speed and the ball remains relatively close to his body. That is enough of an example to illustrate that Rashford does need to work on his technique. That's not to say that he isn't more effective than others, just that it's not objectively true that he doesn't require improvement in that area.

He needs to work on his decision making and composure, nout wrong with his technique. If he wanted to work on his technique he should have done so when he was a kid.

Kane scores 2 and assists 1 ... yet Rashford was the best player on the pitch?

Kane is a great finisher, but actually his all round game is pretty mediocre. If you surround him with talented attacking players then he's very effective, but he doesn't seem to have that luxury with the National side.

Terrible post. I love Rashford but Alli is on another level to every other England player.

If Mbappe had come on and had a cameo like Rashford tonight there would have been a sea of cum gushing through this forum. I don't care if it was Malta or not.

Only because of what Mbappe has shown prior. It's not a slight on Rashford, Mbappe is just different level.

Rashford = Mbappé? After a game against Malta?

What is going on? RAWK will have a field day.

Alli simply doesn't create enough. England lack creativity. We need creative players to feed players like Alli & Kane. Rashford creates far more than Alli. We still don't produce enough technically gifted players. For example, against Malta I would have played that young blond kid from Everton instead of one of the holding midfielders because he's gifted and makes things happen.
I was watching the France match yesterday and not only are their players strong, fast and athletic, they also seem more technically gifted than our lot.

Like an English version of Filippo Inzaghi perhaps?

Yeah soo gifted you don't even know his name.

USA lineup is in but can't determine what the formation is. Definitely a back four on paper. Might be a 4-4-2 diamond unless Arena has Johnson or Nagbe in a midfield two with Bradley.

Howard; Zusi-Cameron-Ream-Villafana; Johnson-Bradley-Nagbe-Pulisic; Altidore-Wood

Arena carries on with plugging MLS midfielders-turned-fullbacks into the side (Zusi).

Some blame the system right now. That the young players leave the Netherlands too early to go to the EPL and sit on the bench there. Maybe the jump is too big for them and the difference between the league to the other big leagues got to big? Too low league quality does not let you develop - but sitting on the bench of a top club does not make that either.

Sorry don't agree with it. If players are good enough, they will shine anywhere. Rvp left at young age, robben left at a young age. Fosu mensah has left at young age and frankly looked the best among others. The present dutch talents are just not good enough. The likes of jannsen, bas dost are fraud.

I also believe everything is a cycle. They will bounce back. They just don't have quality players to help them to do well in world cup.

Mbappe has impressed in a fantastic team that won the league and brilliant national team. Be interesting to see the roles reversed with Rash in his shoes.

Arena better not have Bradley as the lone holding mid against Costa Rica, a side that is quick and will press. He'll lose possession frequently and stall the attack with backwards/lateral passes to bail himself out of trouble.

He had Acosta next to Bradley in the Gold Cup back in June. Dempsey came on late and turned that match from a probable 0-0 extra-time to penalties into a late 2-0 win.
