World Cup 2018 Qualifiers

I'm Welsh, the guy I was quoting is Irish, I like Ireland though so I want them to qualify, just not over Wales :D I'm pretty drunk so if I'm not making sense that's why ;)
Good stuff mate. May your hangover be feather light. Feck McLean should scored

Is that Silva in Spain XI David Silva ? Because if this they're playing without a striker at all I suppose.

Fair enough, 3 or 4 million people is always hard, unless you are Uruguay.

If it can help to regain the level of the late 80's to the mid 90's that is good news. Why not learn something with Iceland model?

Funnily enough, we played long ball tactics during our best ever period as a football nation. Who knows what we could have achieved with better tactics.

There needs to be a clear ethos put in place and a 10 year plan. That requires commitment and good leadership, which we lack.

Northern Ireland, our neighbours, are a good example of what can be achieved with a clever manager who has a clear gameplan.

Sometimes looking from the outside 1 forgets your situation is not the same as England or Scotland regarding professional football, more similar to Northern Ireland or Wales, even if your recent results are better than Scotland tbh.
Wales is even much better having a premier league and championship academy and pretty sure welsh kids can join English clubs at any age. Irish kids have to wait till they're 16.

By 16 we're coached far too many of the wrong things we're playing catch up with the other lads.

Bit sorry for ireland fans who made that long and expensive trip.

Spain V Italy, looking forward to it, the lineups interesting no striker for Spain, Italy going a possible 4-2-4 shoudl be interesting

Remember well the teams of Euro 88, WC 90, WC 94, and 4 qualifying matches Portugal played to Euro 96 or WC 2002, it is true with Charlton or McCarthy the style was direct but you had much more individual quality, such as Nial Quinn, Roy Keane, Irwin, later Robbie Keane, it was always tough matches to play tbh.

Forgot about Swansea and Cardiff, fair enough, more similar to Northern Ireland.
Hah never. Fins are just hanging on playing 10 men behind the ball. Constant attacking with no end product.
Was mentioning new talents in Icelandic football

Yes! Win for Finland. Almost as happy to see Iceland lose after their cheating in their home game.

Wow Cyrus Christie is robbing a living absolutely useless. One of the worst footballers I've seen in a. long time. That aside pretty gutless display by Ireland. Hopefully with Hoolahan back we can do something against Serbia on Tuesday. Really missing Coleman at right back.

Is there a future for international football? Iceland gives you hope I suppose. Oh, and James McClean.

No worse than any of the other players on the pitch in green today.

Coleman has been pretty underwhelming in a Irish shirt, to be honest.

Yep, it makes it a lot harder to piggy back off Englands development seen as that is pretty much our only hope. I'm not sure if it really is but it also seems like less irish lads are brought over, by the bigger clubs anyway. They just bring over 16 year olds from mainland Europe.

Just thinking about it now, I'm not sure how it works for the northern kids. Technically Britain is all one country so you'd think they could move to England before 16 but ten I think of Galbraith who we've signed and it seemed like he had to wait till 16. Not to sure.

I'm envious of the norths manager as he seems to get a similarly weak side to play some good and successful football. Just hope we could do the same.

The more Wes Hoolahan doesn't get picked for Ireland, the more determined Dunphy and his legion of listeners seem determined to paint him as some sort of footballing Leonardo Da Vinci.

When he finally does get picked and finishes with a 38% pass completion rate in a nil all draw with Albania I don't know what we're going to have left to complain about.

There are a few but we prefer to give them 90 minutes with the U21 until they are definitely going to start for the NT. The whole current crop (88-93) did that and played a long time together before making the full step up.

What cheating, the goal? Wrong call by the ref but it looked like a goal. Iceland is not the team that was diving, time wasting and trying to end careers in the two games.

Yes. The scorer knew goalkeeper had the ball. He had it for some time. And your players were surrounding the referee all the time like Barca ar their worst. Really disappointing to see from a fellow Nordic country.

It's rare we're I'm actually angry after a game of football. But tonight I have only now relaxed. Shockingly bad from Ireland

I was saying to friends all week though that I saw this as potentially our biggest game. A game you should win but is a proper banana skin. We slipped badly
