World Cup Qualifiers | October 2017 | Play off draw on Tuesday

Soooooo....we're in the playoffs, and looking at the situation...maybe we should lose in Albania afterall

People too harsh on Portugal playing on a terrible pitch. 8 WCQ wins in a row now with 30 scored and 2 conceded.

Portugal planet needed Ronnie to come on the second half against mighty Andorra, thank God I cannot watch the match Tuesday vs Switzerland. :)
Was waiting to see how the results went tonight but Portugal-Switzerland is the prime choice for Tuesday night's viewing now with Holland needing a 12 goal win over Sweden.

His international record against top teams would suggest otherwise. While he has shaken the tag of being a bully against weaker teams at the club-level, he has yet to shake it at the international one.

Tbf we don't play against the top teams. Most games he's played against the big teams internationally were at the start of his career when he played on the right. In the past 4 years we've played France where he got injured in the final and Germany when we got destroyed after Pepe was sent off at the start of the game. He's certainly been scoring more big goals than ever for us, even if it's not against the elite teams.

Good luck for you, thank God I will not be able to watch the match, so when I will arrive at home we probably will be waiting for our next opponent on the playoff, sick and tired of Santos, the man is depressive.
I doubt that with the way we're playing and with our love history with the playoffs.
We needed Cristiano to beat Andorra, Santos is probably wanting to break the World Record of who can make more crosses vs David Moyes, football from the 90's allright.

Most national teams don’t play a lot of big teams in a 4 year cycle.

I am only harsh because I think Santos concept of football is from the 90's, we won all matches after the defeat vs Switzerland, my worry is about the colective quality of our performances, we can play better than this imo.

I think they need a 13-0 win?

7 goal win they need against us. Should not happen, but you should never say never. The good thing is with this win as well we have also secured being one of the 8 best second team as Greece can never catch us due to goal difference as well thanks to Belgium beating Bosnia.

Apart from joke, can see a 1-1 in the end.
Maybe I am wrong, but the last competitive match they lost was on the qualifiers to the Euros vs England, good players, playing in good leagues and a coach who looks he know what he is doing.

Yeah, Petkovic is good.

Costa Rica qualify for the World Cup

In the last one, they were the heroes of the tournament and it established Navas as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

What did he say?

The journalist asked him (about a week ago or so) what will happen should Sweden win, say, 8-0 against Luxembourg. He disregarded the question as stupid and said that there's no chance that Sweden could win 8-0 against Luxembourg. They did exactly that today.

This journalist chose the wrong occupation...

:lol::lol:.

Another crap manager managing a national football team. Southgate, Martinez, dick advocaat, Deschamps. The list goes on.

Apparently Ireland secure a play off spot if Scotland fail to beat Slovenia today.

What happens to Wales then? I am a bit confused.

Think that means to say the group runners up from Ireland’s group secure a play off spot - as they can no longer finish as the worst runners up from all the groups.

But if Slovakia wins and Scotland draws or lose, they go second. And will have 12 points with +5 goal difference for the Runners-up table. I think so atleast...

And then if Wales drews it'll stay second, also with 12 points but +2 goal difference.

I probably screwed something up though.
