Back three looked solid. Good to have Bailly back.

Missing dominance in midfield still. Romu is dropping deep and playing more of a 10 in the absence of any brawn in midfield. We need Pogba and/or Fellainin back desperately, or even Carrick! Mikhi finding it difficult - It'd take Lindgard over Mikhi atm.

Good to see the passion and drive, thought we bossed in the 2nd half, Romu unlucky with the post.

Pissed off to see the news headlines:
Jose makes a tactically brilliant sub - headlines "Martial hits late winner" Meanwhile City allow 2 goals from West brom, but they're "Impressive Man City" Pfff. whatever, but I'm getting the sentiment right now, it's been some time before the ABUs were out in force, but that just means we're back in the fight, so bring it on

Ashley Young is a Red.:devil::devil:

Now we have to follow it up against chelsea and get 3 points which would be even tougher than spurs game. Conte and mourinho has become a bitter fiery rivalry off late. Would be a huge match.

I believe that's the one. It's very bizarre considering his output throughout the seasons. Does Poch use a different system against the top 6? I don't know.

That stats is about away games I believe, won only once against big team away.

Don't know what this match is though, the last week game was a home one.

God knows how anyone can say Spurs deserved to win or even draw. There was only one team in that in terms of creating chances and wanting to win it.

Spurs were possibly prettier on the eye in midfield but since when has that been a benchmark for deserving victory ? In the other areas we were far superior, rock solid defensively and much more cutting edge in attacking areas.

I'm trying to think of a noteworthy save De Gea made. A couple of long range 30 yarders that bobbled along the ground but other than that we were untroubled and everything they did was in front of us and relatively easy to deal with.

We had some great chances before we scored and I could only see one team believing they could win it. Excellent performance and once again we shut out a free scoring side. We possess all the hallmarks of a title winning side.

Good for morale.. If we beat chelsea next week then we can talk, we always beat Tottenham at trafford..

Happy with the result but definitely think we got away with one there.

That first half was dire, great response 2nd half.

Hopefully this'll inspire the troops again into getting a run of results, especially with Chelsea away coming up

Are people going to adjust their views on Poch considering his record and setup against top 6 in away games ?

You can't expect facts to change people's opinions on here. The only thing that matters is your agenda.

Commentary in the Chelsea match just now:

"Manchester United won 1-0 earlier against a Harry Kane-less Tottenham"

What did we 'get away with' exactly ?

Are you seriously suggesting we were, what, lucky ?

The only getting away with anything I could see was Spurs not being beaten by two or three.

What are his stats for home games against top 6?

2014/2015 : P5W2D1L2
2015/2016 : P5W2D3
2016/2017 : P5W4D1

This season played 2 home games against Chelsea and Liverpool, won 1 and lost 1.

Didn't count his record with Southampton, but that's a very good record. His problem is the away games.

I think if you found that game dull, you probably have no appreciation for real football and should stick to smacking them in from distance of FIFA.
Well said. Suitable put down. Great match. Perfect result. Pity Sheety didnt choke against WBA.

That's an insult to Tottenham more than United. The subtext is that Tottenham are a one-man team.

If you watched the first half, there was almost a calamity between Jones and DDG, our passing accuracy was 70%, there was very little penetration and finishing was not great. Mkhitaryan was very poor once again.

They almost scored via Dele Alli (when it was lobbed through from Eriksen).

I think the result could easily have been a draw. The second half performance was much more assured but I think we were fortunate they were unable to capitalise on our below par first half. (Whether this was due to our defensive set up is up for discussion)

Just the way I saw it.

Some posts are just so stupid it's hard to tell if they do it just to get reactions.

Like that Wumminator chap, who had some pathetic thread created within minutes of us losing our first league game in 6months last week

I'm starting to not listen to the cnuts anymore, the ABU'ness is at number 10 right now. We might as well just give City the title and all go home, and make Pep The Queen or something. Pfff.

Well he obviously had that one ready for some time.

We have to agree to differ then.

The chance for Alli was only a half chance and that was about the only time we were seriously endangered. Rashford missed a tap in, Lukaku too should have turned that rebound in, then he was denied by a great save from Loris, then he rattled the post, then Lingard blazed over a one on one and of course we carved out another terrific clear cut chance that we finally put away.....

2-0 or maybe 3-1 to us would have been a more realistic looking score line.

I disagree with that. We showed intent, and Spurs were always going to have more of the ball, and people are confusing their possession with domination. We controlled the game, apart from two phases in the two halves, and definitely deserved it, out and out.

Just watched the dropball incident on TV and the commentary is pathetic. The implication that Young and the other United players are trying to wind up Aurier when he just elbowed Young in the side of the head, and then praising Alli for not going in on Young when he was the one who put his head into Young is just ridiculous.

Fair enough. I was watching it at work in hospital so perhaps I missed out on certain things, I just stated what I had seen when I looked up at the computer (and it seemed to be the same stuff I was seeing each time).

I'm looking forward to cracking open a beer and watching MOTD tonight, maybe I'll see something different on that.

Big win that. Wasn't great but we kept them fairly quiet for the most part and that's not easy with their creative players, even without Kane. Martial making the difference off the bench again.

Good win, and a much better performance than against Huddersfield.

Think the 3 at the back should be our preferred formation this season. I think Young and Valencia give a lot more in attack, we get width and our attackers find space to exploit because of that. Just think a ball playing CB is very important to get a bit of fluidity in transitioning from defense to attack. Also, think Mata should play instead of Mkhitaryan in that role behind the strikers.

We're a very solid unit no doubt. Definitely won't lose too many games and once Pogba is back we will be far more threatening going forward. If we can get at least a point next week at the bridge we will be in good shape going forward. Would like to hear the views of the resident Spurs fans, agree United were deserved winners or otherwise?
