Chelsea 2017/18 thread - FA Cup Champs, League chumps

Take it Conte is on borrowed time.
Don't think Chelsea will fire him.

That said, it does seem highly likely that he will be back in Italy soon anyway. Also, Morata's shenanigans about living in Italy seem like ground work for following Conte to where he goes next.

If they weren't playing their easiest home game of the season this coming weekend, Conte may have been is some bother.

Chelsea gonna Chelsea.

Win the league and look amazing one season - seriously fail season after. Rinse, repeat.

if they get rid of conte, who do they get in anyway?

pretty sure they've been through pretty much all managers with a certain pedigree of winning and the few ones left are already managing elsewhere (guardiola, etc.)

Chelsea played well in the first half apart from a Rüdiger mistake. They should have scored a few goals tonight but their defence is really bad, gave away 2 goals. Should still qualify though.

Knew it was gonna difficult for them to play every 3 days. They don't have the squad to do it.

The attitude of the manager moaning about it doesn't help either. He has as much games as the others top 6 teams and he's the only one moaning saying that the fixtures are impossible.

He doesn't look like he wants to be there anymore. It wouldn't surprise me if he was the next manager to go in the premier league.

Y'all gotta see Perotti's goal. THREE Chelsea defenders were marking Dzeko and left Perotti completely free.

Yeah, so true. Never seen something like this.
This happens when the players at the club are nothing more than professionals. They don't come through when things get tough. I'm starting to think Chelsea should hire a new manager every year, irrespective of how the previous season went. They might actually end up defending a title successfully.

They don't have a problem with repeating, showed that by re-hiring Mourinho. Given how players are complaining about training regime now, they might go for Ancelotti.

Simeone could be on the way out of Athleti and same for Allegri. Jardim might be tempted too.

In fairness there are six teams going for one spot, so that makes it difficult.

I would say City will win it this year, but I doubt they will win it next year. It will probably be a different team each year for a couple of years, given the competition.

Can we finally please start winning at Stamford Bridge? Absolutely sick of going there and getting nothing.

True that, they do lack motivation. Bunch of greed cnuts.

What's that about?

I would not bet on it. Might sneak a 1-0, maybe. But a draw would be a good bet. Granted we need the points but a draw would not be too bad. City dominated Chelsea in the Bridge and only won one nil.

If we had Pogba back I'd be super confident for this upcoming game but without him I can't see us doing much.

What's that about?
Gave an interview to Gazzeta last week saying he regrets leaving Italy and is finding London a stressful place to live in. Made to back track by the club yesterday in the presser.

It's how they are run and, irrespective of what we think about it (I actually agree with you), they've won been quite successful. I'm just surprised that they haven't realized that persisting with the manager doesn't work with their system of running the club. They end up paying compensation to the sacked manager, one or two players leaving and ending outside CL places.

On a smaller scale, Watford have a similar group of players and are already in the practice of getting a new manager every season. Chelsea should seriously consider it imo.

The problem with Chelsea is they don't reinforce the squad adequately enough after a title win. Kante has been a big loss.

Yeah. Its the board that is the problem. Conte has been hung out to dry by the board this summer the same way Mourinho was in 2015.

Most fans (other than the few delusional ones) and oppos know it. Somehow Abrahmovic cant seem to figure it out. Then again theres more than a couple delusional ones here on this forum itself, so they may not be a minority at all.

Someone needs to add the Benny Hill music to this. Hilariously bad.

Also highlights how big a player Kante is for them.

Seems like Conte has run out of ideas. No longer does he have the luxury of a week's rest between games, and the 3-4-3 formation he stumbled upon last season has been found out.

Still expect him to get a result against us though. Because its Chelsea.

Don't know about that. Mourinho always seemed to have a different connection to chelsea than the rest.

simeone is looking at italy from what i've read in past.

allegri possible, but don't think jardim would fancy it. He needs time, of which there is none at chelsea

Jardim is the kind of guy who likes to improve players, mixing youth players and recovering experienced players, he has more the kind of profile who suits Arsenal or Spurs imo.
