Manchester City 17/18 discussion | "If you're here for the Champions clap your hands" (#6505)

Pep's built a very good team.

They can keep the ball extremely well and slice you open, but they're also very good at counter attacking football.

I know you're doing your usual shtick but I've never liked José's football bar that one Madrid season and I've always loved the football Pep's played. Annoying seeing him doing that at City whilst we play poorly.
Pep is building a dynasty there. We may face a long City dominance I'm afraid.

We have a weakness to pace through the middle and can switch off sometimes though. A lot of people saying we're the complete team but we're not, not yet anyway. We're also a Fernandinho injury away from having to completely change tactic.

Not even Bluemoon loves City as much as this place. The fawning is at unprecedented levels.

Wouldn't tick the boxes for Pep, plus he's not out there to be coaching into his 70s. He's on a worldwide Cruyff Total Football tour having hit the 3 biggest leagues in Europe, and once that winds down after a NT stint the Catalan kid will return home to his club and still be involved with football but with youth

Would Pep manage spain assuming the Catalonian tensions continue? Or would it be a different NT?

Almost as annoying as how good they actually are though right now. Hope it changes soon.

I think your defense can still be had, but it's certainly better than last season.

They're the best side in Europe at the moment, or certainly up there. I'd be surprised if they don't win the big one in the next couple of season. Could be this season already. Feck. With how young their team is, there may be some very difficult to watch seasons ahead of us. I hope United can offer resistance but I fear we're not quite at their level.

Leroy Sané is a fantastic player already and he can improve, really scary.
Sterling's been great, too. I thought he was great at Liverpool but I've been underwhelmed by him at City before this season (though he was good away to Barca last year).

Impressive tonight. Napoli were as usual dangerous offensively but City grinded it out. Strong off of set pieces and then let Napoli tire and kill them off. Hoping Arsenal can pull a win or even draw out of their ass this weekend but not too hopeful

That is what long term planning gets you. City have been planning for Pep years before his arrival. Billions spent on infrastructure and buying clubs all over the world. Billion spent on the right players and coach. It is really hard to see them play football which we can only dream off away from home.

They haven't lost yet this season. managers haven't got the tactics right in how to play them. i think that the first loss and the first manager to counter attack pep's playing style and defeat them will open the door to the others.

I'm quit confident that this manager will be Jose.

City honestly are exceeding the expectations. Fair play to them and pep.

Mate, you are allowed to say ; City is bloody awesome. Now is the time.

Hugely improved, John Stones has been brilliant this season but we still can be got at.
We're awesome going one way, but I worry about the games where we'll have to dig out a 1-0 or hold off a barrage of long balls at 1 up vs a top team.

Arsenal have very little chance because of Wenger. They will be trounced if they do not show up.

Not sure why people are surprised that they beat a team playing a similarly attacking style but that has inferior players in nearly every position.

They’re overall form is impressive and the win against a defensive Chelsea away but they are always going to beat a side like Napoli.

On sunday :(:wenger::nervous::rolleyes:

Maybe. We'll see how they respond after a defeat.

That has nothing to do with their current succes, there's no player that came from their academy in the current squad.

Spending Billions got them her, and getting a good manager. that's about it. the same model madrid followed in the last decade, the PSG is following right now and the barça team even when they had Messi in their side.

Edit: Chelsea also.

So let's not act like they're the best run club in the world with their "long term planning".

Theyre probably the best equipped team for a genuine crack at the quadruple I've ever seen.

Stacked all over the pitch.

Behave. City are a nothing club compared to us.

They are a CL win away from being more relevant than us in the current narrative of football. On history, it would take them decades to compete but football is very much a ‘today is all that matters’ sport now, more so than it has been in the past with the increased coverage and social media.

Not a hope of a quadruple, we're stacked everywhere bar Fernandinhos position. Good and all as he is in his role he won't be able to play 70 games at full tilt.

I disagree. Their CM is lightweight. Without Fernandinho City are fecked IMO.

Honestly Napoli were doing fine before ghoulam's injury. City have been good no doubt but lady luck have been shining for them and that's what worries me.

They starting to concede goals.

Still don't get why teams aren't overloading on Delph. I hope we stick Fellaini on him when we meet.
