Manchester City 17/18 discussion | "If you're here for the Champions clap your hands" (#6505)

Bunch snide cheating bastards. Horrible little club, shit support.

Hurts me watching David Silva play nearly a decade with City, such a fantastic player. I can't stand de Bruyne (another great creative force) but I've always had a soft spot for Silva, wish he wasn't on the plastics

Also, feck city

Why isn't this considered anti-football?
In addition Pep knows no referee is going to give a yellow for a foul on the opposite box so they keep doing that. Then Sane and Jesus dived no card. Why isn't there an article on these anti football behaviours? Yes they are the best team in the world but that doesn't mean they should be allowed to cheat.
Because referees are spineless.

Carragher just said in commentary, we’re chasing shadows. Very true, we can get near them, they’re an absolute different class to us, front to back.

Painful how much better they are than us. Give them the title already ffs

Just like Barcelona, they’re a cracking football side but absolutely unbearable to watch.

How Pep can get on his high horse about completely clean and legal tactics like long ball and playing for the second ball when his players are absolutely despicable in their professional fouls and simulation which are completely against the rules and spirit of the game.

Different level this year.

They've got a chance of getting 100 points.

For the bestest team ever they rely an awful lot on diving, tactical fouling and time wasting.

They've been rather cnutish today but unfortunately life rewards cnuts too.

Diving cheating scum - 20 minutes of time wasting but that's ok this week.

Best team in the league by a mile. One of the best seen in the PL.

United are miles behind as it stands.

They're so far ahead of us it's sad to see. We have the money to compete in the transfer market but we've allowed them to buy up all the talent available. Moyes and Van Gaal fecked our team, but Jose is also responsible for the gulf in class. Our attack was piss poor last season, but while City strengthened theirs further all we done was swap Zlatan for Lukaku. How was that ever going to get us closer to City? It's unbelievable how our coaching and scouting team can't see this, it really is.

They’re just miles better than us. We need to just ride this era out tbh, nothing lasts forever. Give it a couple of years and Pep will implode and maybe the owners will be tired of spending half a billion pounds on players every year and other teams can compete.

This cheating performance was on the level of Barcelona and Real. They spent at least 20 min on the ground. Diving all over the place. Cynical fouls. Falling at the hint of a touch. Just because they play pretty football doesn't mean they should be allowed to cheat. I hope every pundit and manager points this out.

You should blame your manager for time wasting the first 70 and parking the bus.

And yet again a criticism of city is met with an irrelevant link to mourinho.

That was an exhibition of diving and time wasting not seen in the premier league. Scum. Nothing to do with anything else it's a stand alone fact

Despite the cnutish behavior you gotta give them credit for bouncing back like that in the 2nd half after conceding an equalizer before halftime. Just a bit more assured and composed than United today.

Get real. No pundit whatsoever will say a word or link the hypocrisy of what he did to Redmond

Can’t fault their mentality. Silva, Fernandinho, De Bruyne in particular, none of them are big built guys but they handle themselves very well and they recover the ball like their life depends on it.

The only player we have in our squad to match them is Pogba. Herrera and Matic had no chance.

They're a very good team, yes. The issue is this game, and constantly, they're billed as the good and us as the evil. The holier than thou attitude towards them is phenomenal.

This isn't a slight on them, they're the best team in the country. And even when they're not cutting teams open, they score 2 from set pieces. They've played poorly and won before today.

People hoping for a dodgy patch from them, they've had it but still won every game. Now they have an 11 point cushion. Complacency is their only danger.

How lucky were they today. Must be the spawniest club in PL history. We are going to be bombarded all week with hacks trying to interpret the game as a Pep masterclass. More galling that they will be able to start resting players in the league to go for the CL.

Well said but don't hold your breath. None of these 'pundits' will call them out.

City have now shown their aptitude for scrappy, ugly wins (the mark of champions, right?) abundantly. Is Pep turning from idealist to pragmatist? ;)

The thing is as good as they are we can play so much better then this. Yes we’re missing Pogba badly but Jose lost his nerve tactically. Maybe too many meetings with Pep over the years has melted his mind.

Was only a matter of time before the open chequebook manager spent enough money to get a team to play this way. Well done baldy.

Worthy Premier League Champions. And unlike us will be loved by the masses because of their free-flowing football.

I dislike Man City as Top Dogs in the city but this is the reality. And with the confidence, money etc winning trophies will bring them they will be top dogs for a long time.

It’s Barcelona and Pep all over again. Where somehow a genuine drug cheat is held up as the paragon of virtue.

To be fair, they've got an incredible manager. Pep spends (just like us) but he gets them imposing their brand of football over every other team and you cant help but be envious of it.

I think so. But I also think he's gotten more regressive over the years. He reverts to his defensive and cautious nature whenever he feels there's any risk.

You are trying to blame a team who went defensive against United at Old Trafford. Time wasting, yes? but we did it on the pitch and with the ball in play. If United had a bit of verve they could easily have won the ball back but they stood off and did feck all except let the clock run down. You're just salty, yes we were negative last 20 minutes, we out Jose'd Jose. Our time wasting was brought on by United complete lack of urgency and all on the field of play, not lying down over the sidelines like the teams we've played.

Better team today and deserved the 3 points much like last season. Although expect everyone to go into overdrive about their performance today, both their goals came off a set-piece aided by an individual error from Lukaku. Can’t recall them opening us up where DDG had to make a brilliant save.

You should blame your manager for time wasting the first 70 and parking the bus.

All the diving, fouling and time wasting was to do with Mourinho. Brilliant logic

There was a good article earlier this week from Seb Stafford-Bloor about this. That no matter how many derbies there are from now until the end of time, the neutrals will always want City to win.

It's here if you fancy reading it: https://investobet.com/blog/even-ag...ster-united-will-struggle-for-neutral-support

They were nothing special today. Don't see the outplayed part. De Bruyne however, is a machine. That guy runs. Attacks and defends. With Pogba, we win this match.
