They'd be foolish to ever get rid of him. He's a fantastic coach, all they need is somewhat a complete squad to compete for titles.

In all seriousness, Liverpool's got some fine players, it just seems like they never manage to complete the puzzle before their best players leave or decline.
Absolutely unconvinced by Klopp though! Terribly inconsistent apart from being a consistent bottler.

He even went on to say they are unlucky that the linesman saw the handball and got it right. So his masterplan was to hope referees make mistakes for them to win? How the media let him get out of deflecting performances from his team to the refs but crucify mourinho for the same thing I do not know. Klopp really is still the media darling. If SAF did the same as him past two post match comments people will say he is going senile.

My point being that Berbatov made that 4 weaker. Not stronger.
And Liverpool attack is at different stages of their careers compared to those 4. Most of them are only just hitting their peak now.
Well I believe we signed Berbatov to give us a different option in attack. It didn't work out for him at United as we hope it would, but he was still a class player. IMO, he didn't weaken us at all. His signing probably caused Tevez to leave, but as whole, our attack was stronger. We will just have to agree to disagree.
Aye, Livepools players are at different stages of their career but they'll never reach levels of any of those 4 players. I'd say Berbatov was the weakest one of the lot and he was superb from his Leverkusen days onwards.

Yeah because a relatively unproven talent coming from the Bundesliga would get them the 19 points they would need to be ahead of City right now. FFS, there's a chance they might not even make the top 4. Their team is pretty shite, let's be honest, bar their attacking players.

I've resigned myself to the fact that Can isn't going to step up enough to solve our midfield issues. So we'll need someone better to play the holding role ahead of him and henderson no matter what.
That and a pair of centrebacks, probably a keeper too (still hoping against hope that Karius will turn it around this season) would do wonders. We'll need a proper striker too.
So only 3-5 top notch signings away. +1 when coutinho leaves.
I don't think FSG will act fast enough for us to have that next season.

By then, something else will need fixing. We are perpetually running behind. It's very annoying, when the solution is actually feasible and realistic with proper people on board.
Klopp has some fault too. He's wasted this season by failing to shoot Lovren and Mignolet out of a cannon on june 1st and putting all his eggs in the VVD basket, when in fact we needed two top centrebacks. He'll probably start next season with the same faith in Henderson. His faith in the players that are currently letting him down could be his undoing.
Can has a nice YouTube highlights reel but his progress has greatly disappointed and I won't be sorry to see him go since he is not the answer we seek and we likely wouldn't have sold him if he wasn't out of contract. Just disappointed we didn't get a fee but excited to see who we will get to partner Keita (I'm assuming we will naturally be in the market for another top midfielder and will bench Henderson).
And Sturridge. However I think it more likely we won't directly replace Coutinho but bring in a striker (Aubameyang ?) to replace Studge. That still leaves us with a very powerful forward line (Mane, Salah, Firmino, Lallana, Auba ?). I would disagree with a 5+1 assessment of what is needed. A stronger midfield would greatly improve the defence too. So a high quality partner for Keita and VVD or a.n.other high quality CB would instantly transform the team. That's only 2 players (since Keita is already done). Of course another 1 or 2 1st team quality players wouldn't hinder but we are a long way from 5+1.
Coutinho will leave - That will need a replacement.
We desperately need a holding midfielder.
Desperately need a centreback.
That's 3 that are absolutely needed. Beyond that in the region between necessary and nice to have:
a proper goalkeeper (I am still on wait and see with karius)
A striker to replace sturridge
another centreback
so 3-6 signings. 4 of them done by the end of this summer would constitute a competent performance in the transfer market (though we should be looking at 5). I am not holding my breath though. all 6 would be the stuff of miracles by FSG standards.
Are you happy with your full-backs? I would have thought replacing Moreno would be somewhere between "necessary" and "nice".
It's ok. Robertson is decent, and Moreno kept him out on merit for most of the season. Gomez has been our best defender this year, TAA is a big talent and Clyne will return at some point too as well, I guess. Gomez aside, it's hardly a strong point in the team, but it is good enough. For now at the least, and maybe even for the longer term as well.
And anyway, fullback is basically the one position where you can get away with being just about good enough.
Not sure of current odds but a while ago Gomez was 5/2 for the WC squad. That was a cracking bet if anyone is interested and the odds are the same. Looks a good player. Can't believe Mbappe beat him to Golden Boy
Learn to read. Did I say that they will win the title next year? No, I did not. I merely claimed that it is possible that they could challenge next year, because they already have a recruit coming in which is addressing an area of weakness. I even conditioned that possibility on Liverpool also improving other areas of weakness, which they seem to want to do (if the Van Dijk episode is anything to go by).

Can't be bothered. Their squad is poor apart from their attackers. No chance in hell they'll challenge with 1 or two signings. City are flights ahead and a-few teams around them already have better squads that will also be strengthened over the summer. So yeah, nah.
Fair enough. But then no one will challenge because on current form no one will ever catch city.
Well I mean, I can't see them sustaining this kind of form (City) so I'm sure someone will challenge them. Maybe we watch two different Liverpool teams, but the one I have watched this season is miles away from being a title challenger. All joking aside, their squad isn't up to much bar a-few exceptional talents and the freak run of form from Salah. I also think Klopp is far too set in his ways and only knows one way to play.
I agree re:Klopp. He may certainly be a frustrating manager from a Liverpool perspective. I would be furious to see Coutinho start on the bench vs. Everton. And they are defensively still fragile, which after 2.5 years is unacceptable.
But a few key players, especially if they slot into the first 11, can make a huge difference. Look at us with and without Pogba. Without him we look like midtable. We battle for 4th at best. With him we can challenge for the title.
The thing is, Coutinho will most likely be off and possibly Can too. Replacing Can with Keita could be great or it could be like-for-like, I don't know enough about Keita but I know there are plenty of reservations about him. Can could still stay, who knows.
They just don't impress me at all. At times they just remind me of Arsenal, getting the ball into their opponents box but rarely looking threatening. When it clicks it's great but their last two games sum them up all too often.
Well I'll be honest and say that I don't think we look up to much at times either. I would be lying if I said our squad didn't need serious investment.

.Klopp needs to add at least 1 GK, 2 CBs, 2 FBs, 2 CMs, and backup wingers/strikers to compete for the title. Keita isn't anywhere near enough..
Some stats re. Keita and how he is so far ahead of our current midfield. Wasn't he player of the year in Germany last season ? I forget. Some people here have said he's not been as good as last season, and has had some disciplinary issues which have reduced his playing time, well that's their opinion and one has to wonder how much they've actually seen of him because he's stil high amongst the top players in the BL and he's still been mightily impressive.
