Premier League Gameweek 18 (16th - 18th December 2017)

That’s what worries me but I don’t think we’ll let Coutinho and Salah leave in the same summer.
We won't but it won't stop them trying. We have a hard enough job keeping players together long enough for a serious tilt at trophies as it is .

Salah is going to finish the season with +30 goals, which will be ridiculous.

Won't be surprised to see the big guns in Spain as Madrid moving for him if this happened.
No chance in hell that we sell him after 1 season.. He will be here for 3 seasons imo... Coutinho on the other hand is definitely gone this Jan or Summer. Funny enough I think Salah would be amazing at Barca instead of Coutinho.

Salah will cost £250m by then anyway :D

If you dont finish top 4 then it will be a problem keeping salah. Coutinho i think is gone, he is holding his end of the bargain to do his part till he is sold weather in january or june.

Coutinho will leave for big money after the WC. No chance whatsoever of Sarah leaving for at least another year.

Worse for us than Carroll was.
Not a chance. He didn't fit the way we played but he still scored goals. Although the team suffered as a whole. Carroll couldn't even get in to our worse side this decade and we have had a few bad ones

Would like to see Liverpool vs City now, think Liverpool could do some damage to them.

In terms of styles Liverpool are probably the worst match up for them out of all the big clubs in England.

There's still time for Istan...um...bournemouth!

Easy win for liverpool then. Deciding to clean the kitchen seems to have been the right idea afterall

How bad is this league right now? City winning 16 in a row, Utd having one of their highest points totals at this stage despite being nowhere close to some of the teams they could be compared to. Where is the mid-table, the decent teams who will play a bit of football, never going to be in a relegation fight, can give a decent test to the top teams?

Utd and City improving this season is making it so obvious how abysmal most of the league is, could relegate about 12 teams and you would not miss them.

I would still expect the score to be the same. Think it will be another 4 or so in Jan. This defence is still built on sand.
Can't really predict it myself tbh and i see where you're coming from. The beginning of the last match was pretty good for Liverpool though, until the card at least.

They battered them 5-0.
Would’ve been interesting to see how it would’ve gone if Mane hadn’t gotten himself sent off. For the first 30 minutes of that game we were getting at them.

You’d think they would’ve still had chances though.

I kinda agree with the core of this post. I don't remember how strong the midtable/bottom teams were somewhere around 2004-2008ish but there are some awful sides playing in the PL at the moment.

Huddersfield are in a comfortable 11th. They are a terrible, terrible side, every-time I watch them I am shocked they are not deep into a doomed relegation battle.

The top 6 have just gotten stronger.

It will be interesting to see how the return fixture plays out but I think the only things going for you are that the game is at Anfield where City are awful and also they could pretty much have it all wrapped up by then anyway.

City don’t allow you a second on the ball and rarely make individual errors. Unlike Arsenal, who you should beat on Friday to spoil their Christmas.

Not sure if serious. Coutinho/Salah 2 world class players have just scored 2 world class goals, if you can't appreciate those goals today and some of Liverpool's play today, aswell as City's play yesterday and some Premier League teams performances this season against some giants of Europe (ie:- Spurs games vs Madrid, Spurs games vs Dortmund, City vs Napoli, Athetico vs Chelsea).

Then you aren't a fan of football.

Imo, this is the best Premier League for nearly a decade in terms of genuine world class talent on show at various clubs.

Yeah true. It should be a really good game.

The league is not just the top 6 clubs, and my post was not just a knee jerk to the games today. Been thinking it for a while, a lot of very poor quality games, not sure it is healthy for so many teams to be cannon fodder.

Napoli a giant of Europe btw? Could not finish ahead of Shatkar Donetsk in their Cl group.

How does a linesman fail to see salah is in his own half for that. You literally have a big fat line to help you.

People say this every single year.

There aren't many gimmes in this league, it's difficult.

In La Liga for example, there's no point in even watching Barcelona v a minnow because there's rarely a surprise.

Give me the Prem every day of the week.

Our teams are all flying in the CL as well.

Napoli are top of Serie A right now.

Top 6 in England are frighteningly good, each one is capable of winning the Champions League. Premier League have got 5 teams in the Champions League last 16 this season, something that's never been done before by any other country!

Lower/mid-table Premier League teams have some very good players, Champions League level players - Teams like Everton spending £50m on 1 single player (regardless if you think he's worth that or not) shows you the power of the league all-round. It's just the top6 clubs are so good.

As said I'm enjoying it. Watching genuine world class talents and seeing world class goals like the ones Coutihno and Salah scored is why i pay my Sky bill, previous seasons gone by i often questioned whether it was worth it, but this season it's been good to watch.

How is it any different from the last 5-6 seasons?

The difference is that guardiola has shown up with a worse team than real or his barca and is showing that it wasn't the quality of la liga that made those teams steamroll the league or the quality of the premiership that's stopped the top teams from doing the same here.
