We have to learn our lesson with shoehorning Ibra in. Didn't ever like the idea of him starting with Lukaku, but it certainly doesn't look like he's got much influence at the moment, probably massively to be expected after that injury and early recovery. Hope he'll get better!

He was awful, sadly. He just appears to be doing random things and hoping it comes off these days.

He's not a winger by trade. He's been shoehorned out to the left because we spent massively on an inferior player - i mean this in terms of technique. Like all managers who've brought in players under their tenure they tend to always play those players over anyone else. I don't understand why he cant swallow the pill and accept it may not be working with Lukaku - would it hurt to try Rashford in his preferred position and rest Lukaku? Probably not as it would mean acknowledging the signing of Lukaku was wrong. Its trying to piece the jigsaw together but how long do you continue to stick round pegs in square holes.

The glaring issues today were lukaku missing his defensive duties again on a set piece which is worrying, not having players who are able to unlock 11 players defending which to be honest you can describe 99.99% of the teams having this problem, our crossers of the ball are just not very good, we don’t have real wingers. To be fair, not many teams will be able to get through Burnley when they are organized and have 11 behind the ball.

We did play high-press and attacking football from the start from what I saw. We had most of the possession but just didn’t have the type of players to pick them apart. When you look at the current situation and Lingard and Mata are the only ones able to move balls in tight spaces, that is really telling of the quality of our squad. Mikhi was fired up and played with more passion than I’ve ever seen him with but he’s seriously dropped off in form. Zlatan is the other who would have been able to operate in tight spaces but we needed more mobility in that second half. Mikhi and Lingard provided that.

Lukaku really looks worrying. He’s looked conflicted and have trouble figuring out where he needs to be. Don’t get me wrong, he’s made some good positive contribution but he looks a man with huge amounts of pressure on him.

Rojo looks uncomfortable since the injury. He’ll have to play himself back into form.

We just have too many gaps in quality and form issues in the team. It’ll be interesting to see what we do in this transfer window. A couple good signings will freshen things up and provide some positive momentum.

Didn't create enough chances. After we got 1 back you'd expect we'd pile on the pressure and it would be chance after chance after chance until one goes in. It never materialised, the pressure was there we just looked clueless as to how to create chances.

Ok understood. However they still need to have a back bone. Our teams have been suffering from a lack of tough mentality so we can't only look at the talent of any incoming player, but also their mentality.

And most importantly, we need to hire personnel to get the best out of our attackers. It's one of the key things missing. Wish someone would have a diplomatic word with Jose. He's got almost everything except an attacking nose, and he should get someone in for that as no one expects him to know everything.

My first thought is that the player must be more than a young talent. I want a player who has been around for some years. I know that this player will be hard to find of course.

I agree with you, it would be good to see some new ideas that comes with new personnel.

It doesn't seem like anyone is in a hurry to do the cleaning. We are clearly not going anywhere near the title with players like Jones, Fellaini, Mata, Young, Darmian etc. (add or remove names at your pleasure). Yet we went into this season retaining all of these players and we are still putting up with their shortcomings. Whether or not Jose decided to do that or if he was put to it by the executives, I'll leave that to other people for debate.

This. Huge mistake. SAF and our board should have made a good exit strategy for both SAF and David Gill. You could say that we know this in retrospect, but the whole thing was not very well executed and a lot of us feared this outcome.

I started a management job in a major corporation 3 years ago...the previous manager and assistant manager were promoted out at the same time and were gone a week after I started.
Myself and a new assistant were dropped in and left to our own devices. The staff did what they wanted for 6 months until we figured out what was going on then we had a job trying to get our ideas and strategy embedded - we were unknown and had no credibility. Zero succession planning. Got there eventually but took me a long time. 3 years.

For the board to let Ferguson and Gill go at the same time was bad for business. We are seeing that now.

You are right, I agree with you for the most part - its not a managers job to PICK his replacment.

But it certainly is his Job to PLAN for his replacement along with the Board. The board should have been driving that little doozy

I meant an actual attacking coach, not a manager who plays attacking football. Ie keep mourinho and get someone like Queiroz to implement a style of football. I just don't see mourinho changing his way of coaching now, and it's hampering us.

What a disappointing December. First the carling cup and then the frustrating draws in the league.

Not sure what excuses we have left other than fellaini being injured.

All our players are mostly available, it is not like we keep playing the big teams every week, we are unable to win against the mid table clubs as well.

This was something a lot on here said that we have solved from last season. But it doesn't seem so.

High time Martial and Rashford start playing upfront instead of being shunted to the wings.

Absolutely, the same in most industries. Thankfully I planned and trained my successor because I’ve spent most of this year out of work

People love to single out attacking players for criticism but we’d be on a decent run now if it wasn’t for our defence falling to pieces. Far too many goals conceded from set-pieces and hopeful crosses. It’s killing us.

That's just stupid - say what you want about Phil Jones, but he always gives his all. Same with Mata and Herrera (even though he's been awful this year.) I also see nothing wrong with the commitment shown by De Gea, Fellaini, Matic or Lukaku.
