This looks like Moyesies VS Fulham, keep crossing the ball and hopefully someone will reach it and make smash it. No real tactics and just begging for luck. What a mess hiring this kind of manager.
 
After the excitement of the first month of the season, it's yet another false dawn. Every time we think we've turned a corner, it's another turn towards disappointment. I don't know how long this is going to take to turn it around, Liverpool fans probably thought the same thing a few years after winning their last league title, and look at them now. 28 years. That will be us if someone doesn't pull their finger out. At least for Liverpool fans didn't have to play second fiddle to Everton during those years, like we will be with City.
 
Can anyone even attempt to explain why Mkhi continues to get time? Where was Martial?

If you are going to spend 500 million i doubt if this coaching team are up to it . Jose has been found out tactically and does not seem capable of change and is still far too preoccupied with been Jose
 
Maybe I'm naive, but I don't think it was all that terrible. December has been a poor month, but I feel we've been hard done by. Clearly the team in control with more chances against Leicester and again today.

Burnley defended very well granted, but it's an outlier to concede twice in a game like this. Scoring twice in the second half against such a team is not all doom and gloom.
 
Shaw, Young, Matic and Jesse all played very well, enjoyable match, but not a good result. Burnley's second goal was a thing of beauty.

Shame Martial wasn't fit, Rashford is in poor form right now and needs to go back to being an impact sub. But I can honestly see progress with the team, regardless of the result they do look a more cohesive unit.
 
Abysmal performance. I’m sat in the pub with Liverpool fans watching both games having to suffer.

The first goal was Lukaku missing his header. The second was a beauty. What worries me is our lack of ability to play as a team. Everyone is doing his own thing and pass when they have no opportunity to do anything else. They are all over the place. I think that both Lukaku and Rashford needs to drop down to the bench. Let Martial lead the line for a while. At least he runs at the defence. Martial and Lingaard might be the better option at least for now. I know Martial is injured but hope he is back soon.
 
Concede a scrappy goal after 1 minute and a wonder free kick. Good comeback but we had very basic tactics. Get it wide and cross it. Newsflash! Burnley love that shit! Should've got our widemen to dribble into the box at the defenders. Mind you, the ref probably wouldn't have given us a peno anyway.

We aren't the second top goal scorers in the league anymore either. 3rd now behind Liverpool. Slowly the season is starting to unravel. We must go back to our early season form.
 
Just saw highlights (lowlight) again. Why did the entire wall (bar one) not jump for their free kick?!!

Zlatan was our top goal scorer in all competitions last season, that's why he's in the squad and not because he's a big name.

What I’m saying is that I’ve been hearing “we’ve got the second most goals!” as proof we have been good going forward.

I’d say similarly conceding the least goals would mean we have the best defence in the league.

I don’t care what you’ve heard. You’re the one claiming we had the “best defence in the league” because we conceded the fewest goals. Yet you evidently didn’t think we had the second best attack in the league when we had scored the second highest number of goals. Yet another classic example of the absurd double standards you’re applying to our last two managers. You’re becoming a parody of yourself, you really are.

I think we did have the best defence in the league back then. I think our attacking play looks worse every passing week.

After LvG and Moyes I thought things couldn't get any worse I am getting to think I might have been wrong.

I think the poster made solid points. Burley played well but let's keep it real...we were almost at full strength at home and barely scraped a draw against them

The problem we have as well is, Young played well down that wing. Valencia comes back and likely straight back in. That attacking threat goes. I presume he will put Young back on the other side and Shaw is dropped again. The fullbacks and wing positions have not really been addressed properly and how important they are to an attacking Manchester United side.
 
We should start every game as we played the last 30 minutes.

That's something I like about Liverpool and Klopp, the tenacity in the first 20/30 minutes.

It gets the opponents on the back foot, and if you score a goal or two, the game plays it self out (unless your Lpool).

Hoping for Lindelof and Jones pairing, with Shaw and Valencia as lb/rb pairing.
We need more cool headed players in our team.

Mata simply has to play.
Lingard is in great form.
Matić is simple class.
Pogba needs to get more, as do Lukaku.
Rashford is just like his name, Rash. The corners are killing me. The delivery on those wannabe hard crosses is horrible.

All in all, we need to lift our tempo at the start.

Good post.
This I noticed a few weeks ago and to me those are the first signs of a coach losing the dressing room when the players can't be bothered.
Shaw did well. I think he managed more shots than Lukaku.
and that for a 90 mil strikers with limited footballing skills and a terrible first touch.

He says he’s 50+, but he writes like he is 13. Had we won today, this drivel wouldn’t have been served up and that’s how irrational fans work at their best. Shitty week and crap results, but luckily things change quickly. We are still 2nd.

I agree with this. We need to really go through and be honest to ourselves as to whether some of these players fit what we need as a club. If you think about how many players are truly from saf’s time, how many are actually still here from the prior two managers’ transfers, we are truly needing a couple of good windows.
 
We are to dependent on crossing. 41 crosses in that game. I could swear Moyes was still managing. We need to get to the byline more and get more cut back passes like on Lingard's first goal rather than settle for a cross. Some passing and moving would be nice too. Sure, we did enough to win the game today and we were the better team, but being the better team doesn't always get you 3 points. We need a better game plan...
