Hating Lingard

I remember when his finishing seemed to be a problem under LVG. Good on you Jesse, keep it up!

 Grow up, you're starting to look pathetic with your blind hatred of a player that plays for the team you apparently support. I bet you were livid when Martial scored yesterday.
 So you blindly like every player then? Never criticised any of our players?

 So you blindly like every player then? Never criticised any of our players?
Of course I've criticised our players but you bring Martial into every topic in a negative manner, it's verging on obsessive.

The thing is lingard's performance thread has moved about 6 pages or so since yesterday's match and they are basically all praise

Martial's? Just 2 or 3 pages in the same amount of time

Don't ask me how I know :nervous:
Are you honestly saying Lingard is getting more praise here than Martial?

When Lingard scores more goals than Hazard and Sanchez, nobody bats an eye lid.

When Martial completes a dribble, everyone loses their minds.

Yes I’m aware Martial scored yesterday too. I’m happy about that. But Jesse is not getting the credit he deserves. He’s arguably our POTS so far.

You're getting slated but there's an air of truth. While Jesse is getting credit, people would be going crazy if Martial was doing the same and genuinely do rate him as having had a great game if he completes a few dribbles.

What's the complaint? One of our players gets too much praise. How is that something a United fan should care for.

What's the complaint?

Martial is quick to be overrated on his game by game performances. I'm not exactly bothered, and think he has the potential as much as the next guy, but it's a bit tiring reading how good he's played when he's added nothing. But anyway, we shouldn't get in to that here.

A public apology is coming close, and it's one I'll be only to be pleased to make. I thought Lingard was another Cleverly/Evans: a middle of the road club player, but he's making me seriously re-appraise this attitude. If he keeps improving at his current rate, he'll have proved he is United class.

Same here.

Always been clear he's a goal-scoring midfielder when on form and given the chance, this is nothing new. 4 goals on his Birmingham debut was it?

It must be his freakishly long arms that give him additional balance, similar to how a cats tail works. Maybe he grew up in zero gravity. Ferguson had him pegged early on as a mid career bloomer by the way. Compared him to jean tigana.

I've always suspected that to a certain extent fergie assessed young players in a similar way to race horses which was his other great passion. Physical form as much as talent. He seemed to suggest as much with the Jordan Henderson comments about his running style possibly causing back problems later in his career. I always though liam miller was a punt based on his frame being similar to a young Roy Keane.

From a fan, it's hard at times to be balanced about your own players as you view them in a forensic or emotive way. Some players have 'likeability' and others just don't irrespective in how they play. Just a view but it's not easy to warm to his personality and I think it's tainted his talent a little. There was an immaturity to him and his game that made you think he's 21/22 when he's not. I think he's certainly been more 'man like' this season in his game on the pitch and I think we'll see more improvement when he settles down off it too....

I wish i can be a commentator and when Jesse have the ball and trying to beat defenders, I will try to say it like a Spanish commentator:

"Jesse, jesse, derrotando a dos hombres ooh Jesse, Gollazzoooooo, Jesseeeeeeeee, gollazzooo ... gol hermoso " very much like how they commentate Messi.

Excellent form - I always thought he was good enough to be a squad player at United but it's pretty hard to keep him out of the 11 right now.

Works hard, runs with the ball well, decent in possession, hot and cold finishing but always capable of the sublime too. If he can start finishing consistently then he's going to be a real player.

This story about the rise of Jesse Lingard should be a great example for us all in caf to be more conservative about criticizing young academy players on the rise. All it took is patience and trust for them to build their gameplay and reputation as they are becoming a proper first team player.

Well he's finishing more consistently than anyone in the league, bar Kane.
If a goal every 85 minutes is not enough for you to drop that proviso, we had better sign Cristiano Messi.

Like most players,Jesse can be a 5 one game, an 8 the next. Only the very very best are 8 every game. The trouble is that, like football club owners , we as fanshave little patience. If they arent performing , then get rid. I remember when Christiano first broke into the 1st team, lots of fans were giving him pelters - too greedy, no end product. De Gea was 'too frail'. All players are the same - they have good games and bad games. I can be as impatient as the next man then all of a sudden, we see what the manager has been seeing for some time. That's why they are a manager, that's why we are on Red Cafe.

The amount of people making out they always knew he'd come good is funny. I always thought he'd be a squad player who would come in and do a job from time to time myself.

His goal against Watford was simply orgasmic and the goal against Everton had me on my feet clapping it was marvelous.

Just watched his career goals compilation and literally about 4 were average and the rest were outstanding. It is like the lad ony knows how to score great goals lately.

I like his attitude and character. His recent goal celebrations (first goal against West Brom, second against Everton) just drip with personality.

Fantastic squad player, better than Herrera

Always liked his attitude and seems to one of the proudest to wear the jersey

I feel vindicated for all the time I've spent defending him, but even I didn't expect him to be scoring every other game. He's really showing his class. I hope people don't go back to excessively slating him when he inevitably hits a run of bad form.

He needs to produce for much longer than 15 games before we can get too carried away. Not slating him and hope he does it but certainly not getting overly excited by this run.
