Chelsea 2017/18 thread - FA Cup Champs, League chumps

He seems to think it's appropriate and witty to say people have senile dementia. If he meant forgetful he'd have said that. He was trying to be clever and made himself look an utter twat.

Do you think he was making fun of mentally ill people? Of course you don't because you're a wum but you're not stupid. At worst his comments were insensitive.

There's enough ammo to have a go at Conte without being ridiculous.

Sure but I'm not representing a football club infront of the world's media. You must feel pretty let down?

This is all Conte seems to do when he gets involved in these situations.

Do you think he was making fun of mentally ill people?

That's how he's come across. He was trying to make fun of Mourinho by suggesting he has senile dementia. He could have just said he is very forgetful given what he's done in the past etc but he didn't.

Unnecessary comments from both and neither are exactly covering themselves in glory in this exchange. I'd much rather prefer if both let their football teams do the talking. Something that does grind my gears though is the media's role in all of this. Instead of actually reporting the news and events they are now the ones creating it. When asking questions to managers they heavily insinuate things that aren't there in the original context, and they create conflict out of nothing. You'd think the Premier League, as exciting as it is, would sell papers on its own - there's no need for the media to stir up conflict by knowingly creating drama where there is none. The games should be fuel enough to create interest around the league, no need for this "he said this, what are you gonna do about it?" bullshit.

Nah! A bit of childish nonsense every now and then can be fun.

That match fixing comment. What makes this even more funny is the Chelsea fans acting outraged over Jose once again. Imagine feeling that type of way to the most succesaful manager your club has had. Also, Conte will be gone in four months.

Jose 2 Conte 0

Conte has proven that he is vulnerable now. If he responds like a lunatic again, it proves Jose's point. If he says nothing, the last word is Jose's.

Beautiful mind games.
Conte is a dead man walking at Chelsea and Jose who knows how much of a circus that club is can see it from a mile away. All the pressure is getting to Conte, Jose is just adding fuel to fire.

No please let this go on. City are running away with the league and we're probably going to sign Andy Carroll
This war of words is about as entertaining as the season will get for me :D

I find this all rather amusing. The childish insults. The 'f-off Mourinho brigade' making a u-turn and defending him. Chelsea fans frantically googling Conte's match-fixing scandal.

Great start to 2018 this.

Jesus wept, your fans need to stop focusing on Jose and his mind games and focus on the state of your club. What's with Chelsea and fecking every manager who wins them the title.

I'd agree but Conte talking about dementia in such a way was pretty appalling really.

Outraged? We are laughing at him and i genuinely hope he stays at United for many years to come.

They aren't mind games, the are the ramblings of a sad bitter old man.

I think the actual sad thing is slagging off the greatest manager in your history when all he did was play games with the media. Conte is gonna leave your club by the way; and with less silverware than Mourinho.

You're not outraged but laughing, yet you edited the second part of your post where you were obviously riled.

He has shown us no respect since he has left us, i couldn't care if he won every trophy in our history or lost every game incharge and that's the general feeling from what i gather.

You have a point, when Conte was lifting the title last season i was gutted we didn't we didn't actually finish 6th.

Morata had a torrid night vs Arsenal but the overreactions, just like when Lukaku has a drought or misses, or when Lacazette or Aguero does, are ridiculous.

It's his first season in this country and his stats in terms of contributing to goals are already outstanding. If he can add some composure with his feet to his aerial abilities, then he will score a hatful for Chelsea for years to come.

How is that in anyway related to what I said? You’re actually pretty riled

You aren't really trying to say anything, just pretending im riled when the only one that seems to be is you (and Jose).

You’re bringing up completely unrelated events to try and get a dig in and are deleting parts of your post’s that make you look frustrated. If that’s not proof you’re frustrated, I don’t know what is.

Also, why would I be riled? We are doing better than you lot this season, signed Matic from you guys who you guys replaced with an inferior footballer and Jose just made your manager look a right tit after he responded to a comment that wasn’t even about him. Not to add it looks like two of your best players in Courtouis and Hazard are on their way our, refusing to sign extensions.

Things are looking quite rosy here.

Are you actually suggesting Conte made fun of mentally ill people by using"senile" as a synonym for forgetful?
How many excuses is this cnut going to get? Firstly we've got people claiming he meant amnesia, despite saying the Italian for senile dementia, now senile dementia is just a synonym for forgetfulness. Give me a break, he triple jumped over the mark and he should apologise at the extreme least, the next time someone with a recording device is near him.

The irony in that post was that you don't care about what Mourinho did to for Chelsea because he said something bad about Chelsea, but is recalling Conte winning the title last season. You know Conte may not last long and there is chance he may soon be a former Chelsea coach. He doesn't sound happy as is, let alone he's bound to be diplomat about Chelsea. Let remember Conte is a nice chap who keeps his mouth shut either. Juve fans know it well. So when that time come what would you be able to remember?

This supposedly inferior footballer hasn't sunk to some of the lows Matic did in his last two years at the club, FA Cup final especially.

Totally twisting my words out of context, I never said i don't care about what he did in the literal terms, what i said is i don't care what he did in terms of what i think of him now. He could be the most successful manager in our history or the biggest flop, if he shows the club no respect, he gets none back. Have you never thought there may be a reason Mata and even Torres got standing ovations returning to Stamford Bridge but Jose doesn't? It's certainly not success based thats for sure.

Replacing John Terry hasnt been easy.
They have added Alonso and Conte and still havent reached Terry levels yet.

He hasn't hit the heights that Matic did for you guys either, and right now Matic looks better for us than Bakayoko does for you.

13/14 and 14/15 Matic agreed. 15/16 and 16/17 Matic however, the second coming of Maniche, Jokanovic, Dalla Bona or Jarosik would have been an upgrade. Fair enough he seems to have had a bit of a revival at United, but i am not having the rewritting of history when it comes to his spell with us, everytime we drop points not having him anymore is apparently the reason why.

Matic does exactly what United wanted, sit infront of the back 4. You guys wanted more of a b2b midfielder, when Matic was being asked to do that his performances dropped.

I don't see the point of Bakayoko though. Non entity in attack, and somehow manages to look suspect defensively and positionally even with the energizer bunny Kante covering every blade of grass twice at the same time.

I see. Still you're here arguing with other posters just because Conte for some reason off mark comment about what Mourinho said. Clearly Mourinho doesn't care about Chelsea and what Chelsea fan think, does he? He doesn't care about the ovation. The thing is you can't erase what he did for Chelsea from history book, however terrible you grow to despise him as a person now.

You jumped on behalf of Conte but there is huge chance that you're doing it in vain as the same man you defend may come back to bite at you soon. He as Chelsea coach already speak about future plan after Chelsea and complain about signings not his liking. Once he's free to talk whatever he wants about you guy, it won't be pretty. So think about it and don't try too hard

Im not being funny but is it a coincidence that Matic and his replacement have floundered under Conte?
One being excellent before he joined Chelsea and the other as soon as he left?

He actually makes really good off ball runs runs which can often drag the opposite DM out of position, ironically that was happening a lot to Matic at The Bridge. Although defensively and on the ball he is far from what i was expecting, can't argue with that.

If we are going to be technical about it, Matic's replacement was actually Drinkwater, who has been fantastic so far.

Feck off was it Drinkwater, you only sold Matic when you had Bakayoko in the bag. Not deadline day Drinkwater.
Just because Drinkwater is playing well doesn't mean he replaced Matic, it simply means he's playing better than his replacement

Conte went live on air and said his plan was to start the season with Matic and Kante again then slowly replace The Serb with Bakayoko (link below). Conte planned to have both, it was after losing Matic we then went into the market for Drinkwater. The timing may have made it look like Bakayoko was the direct replacement, but it was actually Danny. Had Matic decided to stay we would have still signed Bakayoko alas he wasn't his direct replacement.

You do know that you're spewing this rubbish to people who are very well versed in JM's antics, especially when he is about to go 2 seasons without mounting a realistic title challenge.

I mean it was all the Chelsea's media manager fault that he didn't correct that journalist there when he asked the question to Conte about José's clown comment. It should have been put to bed there and then only.

Conte's comment did really came across as very poor and classless, it isn't surprising to see Jose replying to that with this match fixing comment.

How has Danny Drinkwater been fantastic when he's barely played? Came on against Arsenal and barely made a forward pass? Not saying he's a poor player by any means as we've seen what he can do due to his Leciester days but he's far from that level at this present time, couldn't even start the derby ahead of Bakayoko who's a terrible footballer.

Chelsea fans have an habit of overrating their midfield players as it makes them feel good about selling Matic. First it was Bakayoko and now Drinkwater.

They're usually critical about their team but one post about Matic and they start overrating Bakayoko and Drinkwater.

Also see them trying to make it sound like Matic was poor last season which is far from the truth really.

Literally got exposed in that Spurs match because of him. Blessed with the mobility of a boulder, slower turns than a semi, and switches off at dire times. He's a decent player but nothing beyond that.

Are you talking about this Matic?

Theafonis said:
The gulf between Matic and Mikel/Ramires is ridiculous. If Matic is afflicted with long term injury, any chance for trophies could be effectively zero -- same goes for Hazard. Another midfielder and winger are needed.

This.

Imagine us United fans despising Fergie, complaining about him having a grip on the FA and all other sorts of things people used to moan about him.

Are you talking about this Matic?

This is weird because Chelsea fans on here are usually critical about their team more than opposition fans on here but when the conversation shifts to Matic, they go weirdly deluded.

He did underperform for them for a season maybe but for the most part they always regarded him as one of their best players. Weird that suddenly he's only ever been a decent player and nothing else.

I wasn't a fan of signing him when I first heard about it but I'm more then pleasantly surprised by how good he is. Very classy player.
