Cristiano Ronaldo - performances 2017/18

I am looking forward to the post-Ronaldo and Messi world, though for the latter that looks a good few years away yet.

I think Ronaldo is going to only be a very good player from now on. Maybe stick in the top 10 in the world for a year or two, but his period of domination is over.

ON current perfromance he is not even a top 10 player in LaLiga let alone Europe. Turning up in 4 games a year won't change that. His basics are average.

Average isn’t a word I’d use to describe a 5 time Ballon d’Or winner.

Yet that is exactly what he is showing. Can't beat a man, awful passing, outsie of the box he is a liability. Don't care what any awards say.

Then we really need to question how he managed to win 5 ballon d’or because by watching him play now he is average. And it has been for at least 2 or 3 years, but his incredible stats kept hiding it, and they would be still hiding it if he would manage to score a goal or two from the chances he has. I guess you were one of those who voted him only by watching the game highlights.

I’d take an average Ronaldo over Lukaku every day of the week
You should have watched Ronaldo against Celta or Villarreal. He is in truly horrendous form right now. Time will tell whether this is just a bad patch or a mark of his decline.

One of who, who voted for him?

Not if you've watched his peformances this season. Some of his footballing ability makes Lukaku look like Iniesta.

Honestly I almost fell off my chair reading this

Don't really follow his performances but heard 4 goals out of 94 shots in La Liga this season. That's like Morata on current form over a season.

He's getting old, happens to everyone.

If Real win the CL and he scores in any of the knockout games he'll win the Ballon D'or again. That's literally all it takes these days.

Its hard to tell at the moment whether its a few games, ie dip in form or a his decline! Naturally at his age when he’s always relied on pace and skill it’s likely the latter!

Messi is on another planet right now.

His Balon D'or was a joke and now that his athleticism is starting to fade he's likely to fall off a cliff performance wise.

They still will probably put him between the three due to marketing reasons but it's about time Kane and Hazard get in there

Yeah, it will be quite interesting to see what kids will be coming through. Other than Mbappe, which is a certainty, of course. I will be keeping an eye on Odegaard and some say Karamoko Dembele from Celtic youth ranks is very good, he turns 15 in February, won't be long before he's turning pro.

Real Madrid are in a real period of change unless they win champs lge Zidane will be sacked in the summer and they will be very active in the transfer markets . I think we can expect a massive turnover of players with either Bale or Ronaldo (or both ) being moved on along with a couple of other big names and I wouldn't be surprised to see both Hazard and Kane being brougt in along with a couple of others at least.
I think the Ronaldo bashing is a bit unfair and he serves far more respect than he is being shown by those who ho have been desperate to see him falter . Be careful what you wish for because once has gone we may never see anyone as good ever again even his haters will miss him

Funny enough so far this season he’s played like those weirdos who idolize him. You know the type who show up to a kick about with his shirt and hair done and do step overs and take shots whenever possible. And usually they’re typically the worst player but they think they’re amazing. Yeah that’s what he’s been like for most of the season.

If I were a Madrid fan, I'd want him sold.
Thinking time's up.
Need to rebuild.

The problem for Ronaldo is that he has zero humility and is one of the most arrogant twats the sport has ever seen. Going on instagram and saying crap like "I am the best player in the world, check the results from last monday" and even bigger bollocks with "I am the most complete player in history" is an absolute joke.

He's obviously had a fantastic career but there is confidence, and then there is being delusional. It's the biggest reason why Ronaldo is so hard to root for, and why so many people take pleasure in him going through a rough patch.

Of course people who fawn over him will say "his arrogance is what makes him such a great footballer!" but if he even had 1% humility he'd be more tolerable.

Nothing funnier than seeing the self proclaimed "greatest player in the world" not even look like a top 40 player right now.

I have no idea why you would take pleasure in someone's events in life that you don't know personally.

And to take stock in these 'best player in the world' pissing contests seems like a waste of energy. If Ronaldo isn't the best in the world then he isn't, and such an award in a team based sport is in itself a bit ridiculous.

It's a bit obvious that this a persona he puts on for the sake of his image. Ronaldo by all accounts is a soft person to those in his circle. And he himself knows better than everyone that he is playing like shite; but will back himself because that's the way he is. He looks to be turning into that old dog, that used to be all lively and energetic; but now has diabetes and has a limp in one of his legs.

Problem is he's 33, he has 2 and half more years of contract on unreal money, he has developed a massive ego that makes him a nightmare for coaches and he'd never accept a second fiddle role. Reality is, he has no resell value. No top team in Europe would take a risk on him, unless he accepts a massive pay-cut and Real let him go for a very nominal fee. Ibra came to us at 34, after a phenomenal season in France, for free and for half the money Ronaldo is on.

Realistically, his next destination after Real is either a China/Qatar style league, or a return Sporting (for nowhere near the same money), or retirement.

I think it's still too soon to write him off. If he wasn't scoring and wasn't getting on the end of chances, I'd be a lot more concerned, but the only difference I see from the past 12-18 months is him going through a bad spell of finishing.

He will still score 33 or 34 goals a season easily. If Rashford reached these figures we'd be saying wonders. It's weird actually because he is clearly going past his prime but even then his stats will still always get to double figures. When he is 36 or 37 bet on him getting at least 20 goals.

He only has 4 goals in league play, he'll need to play some of the best football of his career to finish with 34 goals in La Liga.

Kane for sure, Hazard no way.
