A lot of the Berties on there are in denial, trying to play this transfer down and coming across as if they are on some moral high ground. They seem worried about where Sanchez is going to fit in and who he is going to displace....despite the fact that they have been stocking up on players themselves.
For the record, I was the one that made that post (1) and I was pretty outraged at the hypocracy they have shown towards myself and towards this whole saga. Not only because they called me a "Rag" (2), but they then went about banning myself as well and in turn driving me towards joining this forum in question.
(1) I am not really angry at United for hijacking the move for Sanchez, rather I was angry at both Pep and the management for bottling it and allowing the hjacking to happen, despite the fact that the First XI is clearly running out of steam (simply because they have been playing too many games at the same level of high performance) and that the Second XI (who struggle to beat teams like Wolves and Bristol City, clubs which for all the good they have done of late, are not exactly PL clubs...yet) is nowhere near good enough to rotate with them on a reuglar basis.
While Sanchez alone would have not solved that problem, he would at least provided us with another option to gain victories when the rest of the team have nothing left to give, certainly I think that with him at the club, we would have not lost to Liverpool recently (a game which quite frankly we lost largely because our our lack of strength in depth). That is why I am so angry at my club for doing this stupid decision, one which I fear will end up costing us the title at the rate things are going (yets not forget we are talking about the same guy who single handly won the FA Cup for the Arsenal and almost got them into the Top 4, so imagine what he could do to United's title chances...)
(2) Despite supporting this club long before Pep and Txiki turned up and will continue to support this club long after they are gone. Likewise lets not forget that for all their hate for United, those City fans in question (which I don't think represent the views of most of them IMO) seem to be strongly in favour of a move which boost the title prospects of the club they like to hate.
I think you can relax on that front.

Disagree, I mean considering how Liverpool have no good goalkeepers (1), 1 good defender (VVD who was injured for that game), few if any decent midfielders and only 3 good attackers (2) we should have beaten them one way or another. But the fact is that when I saw how City played in that game, I got the impression that they where a shadow of how they played of late and I highly suspect it is because they have either run out or are running out of steam (3) just when the season is only going to get tougher from here when one is still comeptiting in all 4 comeptitions against teams which are not exactly walkovers in any case.
So unless the First XI (4) somehow addresses this problem or City actually sign the players they need to sign (like Sanchez), the title race might end up being rather less over than many people seem to think at best and at worse, we might just actually lose it (5). Especially since United might well obtain a player who we all know can win/draw games (and even trophies) for teams almost singlehandly for the Arsenal and if he can do it for a club on the decline, imagine what he can bring to a club which for all its issues is at least in a better position than Arsenal are in.
(1) Any team that wants to do well needs to have good goalkeepers on their side, after all United under Fergie did their best when they had Schmeichel and VDS in goal while having both De Gea and Romero in goal has helped the club go though some tough times of late.
(2) While Salah, Mane and Firmino as as good as anybody in the League, they have no one in reserve who can come close to matching them. Hence why selling Coutinho might end up costing them this season.
(3) And it is not just this game either, it has increasingly been the case (by and large) for them since Late November.
(4) The Second XI is not going to able to pick up the slack, not when you look at some of the players in that team and how they performed against the likes of Wolves and Bristol City.
(5) Lets not forget the points advantage we have is similar to where it was for Newcastle in the 1996-1997 season at the point and where it was for United in the 1997-1998 season at the 31st round of games. So considering the problems we have at the moment, it is not exactly at the level which is impossible for teams like United to catch up against (although their margin of screwing up in future games this season is pretty much nothing, Sanchez or no Sanchez)
So overall while I think we are still firm favourites to win the title this season, our loss to Liverpool (more exposing the state of the team rather than just the loss of the 3 points) and the bottling over Sanchez has weaked our advantage considerably on this front.

15 games left, you'd have to drop points in 7-8 of them and one chaser maintains perfect form. Or 5 defeats on the bounce to make it interesting. Not happening.

@1Manchester welcome to the caf. You raise some good points but I do think overall it sounds like you expect City to be a perfect team and that's never been how football has worked, specially not how City approach it.
Imo, Sanchez would've been a good addition for you, but not something you need. You don't need to go looking for all the answers because you lost a game or even if you go on a little run of off form.

In Rics defence on bluemoon he's made a few post calling blues Disingenuous and ridiculous to call utd over the Sanchez signing. He's well aware he has a paranoid bunch that frequent bluemoon and takes them down a peg or two when he can.

If we continue to struggle to maintain the level of consistency that we been reaching in the first part of the season (1) and play more like we played against Liverpool on a reuglar basis (2), then it might just be possible. Remember all we need to do is lose against United, City, Tottenham and Arsenal (or 1 other team who capitalises on our weakenesses) and that points lead goes up in smoke. Now of course we might end up going back up in terms of peformance as we have done at times since late November, however as long as the strength in depth issue remains in place, I struggle to see how it can be done.
Likewise as we are going into this part of the season as we are now, United in contrast are likely to have serious boost to their ability to win games with Sanchez and in turn their ability to win games on a consistant basis (essential if you are going to catch us up) (3). Hence why I felt City should have been more willing to prevent United hijacking the deal in the first place, simply because the combination of our declining performance and United's extra boost might just be the pefect storm that turns the title race around.
Anyway all we can do is see how both teams far in the next few rounds of games, what I can say though is that with all that is happened, I feel the title race is certainly not as "over" as it seems even a few weeks ago and likewise if City do win the title at the end of all this, the points victory it certainly not going to be as big as has been at times.
(1) Especially the likes against Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham
(2) Remember that the Season for us is only going to get tougher from here with a League Cup Final (assuming of course we don't f**k it up against Bristol City, which I now see as a real possiblity considering their recent record), the FA Cup run and the Knockout Rounds of the CL alongside the remaining half of the Premier League Season.
(3) Look I absolutely agree that Manchester United face a huge task in the second half of the season with having to catch up with City while still competing in the FA Cup and (especially) the Champions League as well. In other words you cannot really afford to lose/draw in any more games then you already are (In some respects this seasons Premier League Title race is a lot like a La Liga's title race, in the sense that for the 2-3 teams that are realisically able to win it, it is really comes down to which team screws up the least above all else). My point however is that having Sanchez will make it eaiser for United to screw up less than you have done in the first half of the season.
To be fair, I expected us to draw and even lose games this season across all 4 of the comeptitions City are in. However I felt it was more likely we would lose to a team such as United, Chelsea and Spurs Domestically and teams such as Barcelona, Real, Bayern and Jueventus in Europe (simply because they are all either on our current level or better squad wise). What I did not expect was that Liverpool of all teams (which as I have said before have a lot of issues with their squad) to be the first to beat us (2) and to do with the help of our fatigue issues as well.
That was why I was so disappointed about the loss to Liverpool, not just the fact that we failed to do what the Invincbles managed in the League (if not in the FA Cup, League Cup and Champions League) though this defeat, but in the way we lost (in terms of City's performance) and to which team we lost to. Reguardless though the best thing City need to be doing is learning lessons from this game, in particular the lessons our transfer department need to be learning.
(1) Lets not forget both the 2003-2004 Arsenal team and the 2004-2005 Chelsea team both lost 6 games in all competitions, this is despite the fact they have been among the least defeated Premier League teams of all time.
(2) Although at least they did so by outscoring us, which is kind of the only way to beat a team with the attacking potential of City. So fair play to them for adopting that stratagy against us, it is however such a shame they have no counterparts to their "Fab 3/4" when it comes to their goalkeeping/defence and midfield areas as well. Otherwise it might have actually have been their year instead...
Let's not forget the loss against Huddersfield and the draws against Liverpool and Stoke (games you should have all really have won) alongside them as well.
Well from my personal opinion it all depends on which of us and Chelsea has the best transfer window above all else. Although if Chelsea continue to go downhill in terms of trasnfer policy (1). I can say with some confidence that the title will remain in Manchester next season, which club though is another matter...
(1) The problem for Chelsea is less who they bought (Caballero, Rüdiger, Zappacosta and Drinkwater were all reasonably good transfers, Bakayoko on the other hand was a dud purchase and in turn the jury is still both out for both Morata and Barkley), it is more who they didn't get and who they are now aiming to get.
