As for the other point (misunderstanding aside), I learnt in my time on the Caf how necessary it is for everybody to try to show some restraint, even if it's not easy when discussing matters of life and death. This place would blow up otherwise.
 
Nice to see Israel smashing the militants in Sinai. Would they be kind enough to help India in Kashmir and defeat militants coming in from Pakistan as well?

A Russian jet got shot down in Syria. Sad news. The pilot is said to have been killed by opposition fighters on the ground after he ejected from the plane.

I'd say our forces have dealt with the problem better than israel ever could have. Comparing palestine with kashmir only helps the pakistani narrative because they claim both are the same when they aren't.

I have no love for Erdogan or what he has been doing for the past few years but your first sentence seems rather out of whack with what the article is actually reporting.

Meanwhile in Egypt, the 'election' has descended into complete farce. Sisi isn't even really bothering to hide his tendencies anymore.

What's interesting about this is that (a) the peoples of the region have adopted the term themselves, and (b) there have been various attempts in academia to come up with more useful alternatives which have failed to catch on, e.g "Nile to Oxus region" or "West Asia". These two are useful in some historical contexts but the former excludes most of Turkey by definition while the latter excludes Egypt and a tiny bit of Turkey (although I believe "West Asia" is used in some American military contexts @Raoul?). So "Middle East" endures, even though it's a Western import and there is no exact agreement on what the term relates to.

Yeah this is my point, abit rich of them to whine about sovereignty violations when they're the gold medal laureates of it in the region.

Like the US they believe that every airspace is theirs and that the sacred notion of sovereignty only applies to them.

The Iranian UAV crossing is just another ceasefire line incident since the Syrian Civil War began in 2012 on the border between Israel and Syria. I count thirty-eight incidents to date.

Most of the incidents involve stray fire (i.e bullets, mortars, rockets, ectra) from the Syrian side. But there has been more serious incidents where Israel has been the target (i.e. Iranian UAV).
 
Really bad situation. Right now I'd say the only thing preventing an all-out Israel vs. Hezbollah/Syria/Iran war is Russia.
 
Sounds like its about to kick off again with the Israelis, US, Turks, and Iranians.

Found a really interesting documentary on the "real" reason behind the start of the Syrian conflict. Can't find a more relevant thread, surprisingly not one thread about the civil war that is shaping our times on here … would this be the right place?

Ayelet Shaked said on Monday that Israel must maintain both a Jewish majority and democracy, but stressed that keeping the state's Jewish character may come "at the price" of human rights violations.

"There is place to maintain a Jewish majority even at the price of violation of rights," Shaked told a conference in Tel Aviv on Monday, Israeli media reported.

In her speech, Shaked, a member of the far-right Jewish Home party, defended the so-called Jewish Nation-State Bill, which would constitutionally define Israel as the national home of the Jewish people for the first time.
