Post-match discussion

We were ponderous and poor in the first half, but we were very very impressive in the 2nd.Alexis was just mesmerising at times,it bodes really well for the future....

Ffs, missed the second half. Allot of Sanchez praise I see. He was my player of the first half with nice through balls I could not have dreamed would make it past the first man and that nice tight ball control and dribble to create a chance and force a good save from the keeper.
100% agreed. Couldn't write it better.

Couldn't see that where i was sat. Bit weird.

Is this like the shortest post match thread ever?

All the moaners are off to another moaning thread.
It was a routine win against relegation candidates who are in absolutely terrible form. Not much to write about, apart from how Sanchez was kicked from pillar to post. Haven't seen a player get roughed up this much in quite a while.

Seemingly I'm not talking out my arse hole. You have developed a reputation for being a negative bastard. @EyeInTheSky @Ban

Not really. Lighten up. A mini welcome for new player on his home debut. No biggie.

With a scout like that I can see why an influx of asinine out and out falsehood is flooding the forums.

“He can’t coach, we can’t score”

we’ve outscored and let in less goals than the geniuses coaches you ass suck daily

“But, but he’s not Pep”

Get to feck you cnuts

Wait what. People only coming in to moan about he banner but no word on the win or the game itself?

Always looking for an excuse. Glad you managed to find something to be unhappy about after the disappointing win today.

Edit. Game not Jane!

Who's Jane? Is she single?

The assault on McTominay in the first half was too obvious not to, but Attwell still didn't give it.

Atrocious refereeing. Missed a clear penalty shout.

Mctominay came through that baptism of fire quite well. He clearly has the physique to be playing at this level.

Needs to be more adventurous with his passing though.

Because we did not score??

Yes, the second half was better but I thought we played pretty well in the first half minus a few errors. We played with urgency, linked up well, defended solidly when required and created a few good chances. We were also denied a clear penalty. If we had been given that and scored, many opinions would have been different.

I suspect he did exactly what Jose wanted him to do. In his post match interview, I noticed how he emphasised Scott's simplicity and how he wanted him to bring that into the game. The kid kept it solid, neat and simple. He brought out the best in Matic and that allowed the more attacking players to go forward confidently.

Glad we won. Sometimes we can go into a slum following a bad loss. Looks like this time the lads were fired up.

Jose calling OT a "quiet stadium". Crowd has been wank for quite a few years now.

Away support is top as always.

Poor from Alexis.

His missed penalty cost me fantasy points. I hope José does the right thing and benches him for the first half versus Newcastle to teach him a lesson.

Unlike the recent debuts of Lukaku and Pogba, I'm in awe of Alexis as a player. Sure Lukaku had a good run of matches where he scored almost every game at the beginning, but his scoring seemed more a function of the team's play rather than any particularly outstanding skill of his own.
Sure Pogba has impressed with his strength and ability to control the midfield but then he continually takes wasteful shots that destroy the momentum of attack... But Alexis looks like he's playing with his hands while everyone else is playing with their feet... especially when he links up with the almost equally talented Mata. Brilliant, brilliant footballer... I knew this when he played with Arsenal, but I didn't appreciate this fully until I watched him play for us, and was rooting for him instead of against.

Hardcore, and no white text. Promote this poster!

How many passes did we make in total? Anyone got the stats? Felt like the most control we've had over a match this season despite scoring only 2 goals.

Did anyone else think that Huddersfield we’re trying to to what spurs did and ruff us up and kick lumps out of us to see if they could get away with it to?

They would have been looking at the game review and seen they had a chance because spurs were allowed to get away with it.

Carbon copy tactics but they didn’t have to quality to take advantage like Spurs did.

@Ban @TheReligion did you guys see the whole match? I only saw the first half and that’s what I genuinely felt. The
Ref was as bad if not worse this time.

Huddersfield was incredibly dirty especially in the 1St half. They tried to have a go at our players constantly.
In the 2ND we were pretty good I thought. Made pressure on them didn't let them breathe until we scores the first.

So all the moaning and complaining that went on pre-match is now finished?

The people that thought that it would be a draw due to the team picked to start hopefully have all apologised!

Yeah that won't even happen . :)

Decent performance against a very bad side. Good to be back winning.

Im hoping we will see three man midfield later on and in front Martial/Rashford/Sanchez--Lukaku/Martial-- Sanchez/Rashford. I think there is some potential there.

Cheers.

They’ve taken their moaning to other things/threads they can moan about. It was a sight of horror and shame reading all those posts pre-game after line up was posted.

Good performance.

We were kicked off the field at times. Ref was too lenient.

that game really stood out for me..... the last player I saw kicked to shit like Sanchez was today was Ronaldo .... they struggled to contain him

great overall performance from a positive player who always looks to attack - I never appreciated the weight of his passing - I think he will feed Lukaku better than his team mates

Sounded a fairly standard comfortable home win.

Last season we could barely win a game at home to anyone, so at least we've put that right.

Old fashioned goal naturally left footed player gets down the wing and puts a cross in quite simple really shame we don't try it more often.

Not the best game but a deserved win. Alexis our new playmaker. Lukaku with not his best game but a good goal.

Including that Real Madrid shoot-out is it only 3/9 penalty’s we have scored this season?
I would like to see Sanchez given a free role on the right like Mata does. TBF to Mata he did have a great 2nd half

To anyone above a certain age, of about 10, it's extremely cringe-worthy.
I don't think so. When someone agrees with you on this you call it a voice of sanity. But I don't think it has anything to do with sanity vs insanity at all.

The banner is based on a photo Sanchez took of him and his dogs. They are a big part of his life. I don't see anything wrong in recognizing that when wishing him welcome.

I'll have no sympathy for this lot if they go down, bunch of fecking thugs. Sanchez himself was fouled 7 times ffs. Most media/rival fans seem to have gone quiet on the whole ‘collective fouling’ punishment since Herrera got sent off for other people fouling Hazard. Was brave of the Premier League to experiment with that rule change for just one game, and surprising that media and neutral don't miss it seeing as it was such a popular and obvious rule at the time...

In all though happy with the result more than annoyed at nothing being done about the persistent dirty play (how the hell did we not get a penalty for Kongolo trying to rugby tackle McTominay?)
