Dominant performance throughout. Huddersfield were thugs so I wished we battered them, but whatever. Sanchez brilliant despite their best attempts to injure him, went past players for fun and made great passes and turns all day. A class above any outfield player we've had at the club in ages. Delighted we have him and deserved that goal, even though he missed the pen right before.

Thought Lukaku was wank most of the game, got the goal important though so I guess he gets a pass. It's always either the player puts in a good performance, or gets a goal to make up for it. The side that ended the game though is one I want to see way more though. Just Martial as the striker and keep Sanchez on the left though. Pogba in a midfield 3, rashford, martial and Sanchez front 3. All talented players and can make something out of nothing, and all a goal threat.

Solid performance.
First half was mediocare, trying to do tuff without really succeeding.
Second half was better, created a lot of chances and never looked like conceding.
Nice goal by Lukaku, happy Sanchez scored and had a great game.

When this team clicks, I think we can achieve some great things and look much better attacking wise.
Don't want to sound like a Liverpool fan, but with the right buys, we can have the same level of dominance next season that City had this season.

Heres hoping Spurs and Looserpool draw, and Chelsea lose!

Just hope the team can raise their game to Sanchez level. What a fecking player he is! He really makes the rest look average! How can that be?? We need to build the team around him.

Can't wait to see him score his first goal in open play. Looked better when the big guns came on but forgetting the first half, decent performance overall.

At least my weekend hasn't been ruined and I can 'enjoy' the rest of the games.

Sánchez for mhki? Wenger is the gift that keeps on giving.

It’s been a long time since we have had a top class winger at the club. Sánchez is different class.

This, in my opinion, was the perfect match to try and fit our best players in a different way, especially in attack. Don't get me wrong, i loved the win and the non-threatening opposition. I just wanted to see something else.

Easy win. Huddersfield are thugs. Those supporters with that banner are idiots.

I disagree with many comments about the first half. I think we played pretty well. Once people don't see a goal, they conclude we were poor or average. It doesn't work like that in football. I liked the urgency and energy. We were unlucky not to get a penalty. We usually don't play for 90 minutes. I felt we did on this game.

I also disagree with most commentaries on Lukaku. Give that guy chances and he will score 8 out of 10 times.

Meanwhile, what a BEAST Sanchez is! Getting him was a steal.

Again, has that ever been the criticism of Lukaku?

We know he can score goals, it is all the rest.

We were better second half, but fecking hell we're shite going forward.

Same problems exist and they will only emerge again.

You're a terrible poster. How you're a scout is beyond me. No wonder the forum is saturated with dross.

What a difference a good partner to Matic made!!! McTominay and Matic bossed that midfield. Solid and secure. Made it simple and nothing went past them and everything moving forward.

Sanchez is a spark to our attack. Mata, Lingard and Sanchez allowed our front line playing fluid. No nonsense and direct. Good solid work rate and production.

You can just see pogba, rashford, and martial were so wasteful when they came on towards the end. They just had to keep being professional and finish the game out.

Jose made the right changes. The energy is good from the team. The players look hungry and played with good sense of urgency. The state of the match thread when the lineup was announced was shameful.
I don't agree with the bolded bit, but the main point is good. It was almost like Jose saying to PP, look, 'this is what I want you to do'. And I do think he played in a more structured way after he came on, so hopefully Jose's approach is working.

Agree with you on all fronts. Important to support sensible posts after today's match day thread. Some great posters there as well, though, which is why I even bother going there.

EDIT: After much fecking about, finally made my point.

Once United start picking the final pass more right than wrong it is going to be a goal fest.

Time and time again the wrong decision is made, and a goal scoring chance is wasted.

But today is was still total domination and the difference between the teams was a gulf in class.

Great to see Sanchez score on his home debut.

With McTominay and Matic sitting, Pogba was given so much more freedom to get forward.

Huddersfield are nothing but a bunch of thugs. I will toast the moment these cnuts get sent down.

However, Pogba kept coming back further and further to get the ball.

Easy win , dull first half, too slow, predictable and narrow.

Better second half, more space. Alexis worked hard throughout and deserves his goal. Mata good 2nd half until he was subbed.
We did actually play 433 after Lingard went off and Pogba came on, at last. Coasted through after the second goal.

How many times did DDG touch the ball, must be a record low?
Ref was pretty dire, how the McTominay incident wasn't a foul/penalty I really don't know.

Hope we get the blend right next game and everyone has learnt their lesson.

Huddersfield is a great town, full of cracking pubs and breweries. I was chuffed to bits when they got promoted. Following this afternoon‘s thuggery I can’t wait for them to be relegated

Overall a decent response to Wednesday, first half was bleak with aimless possession and Lukaku looking clueless, thankfully picked up second half against let's be honest probably the worst team in the league. Sanchez looked different class yet again, comfortably our best player within two minutes of being at the club.

You're a terrible poster. How you're a scout is beyond me. No wonder the forum is saturated with dross.

We're largely shite going forward and I've repeatedly stated reasons why.

If you've got a problem with that then chuck me on ignore.

Sanchez is awesome at left and would rival any top player in that position. Sadly,Martial is couple of levels down and hence we will see more of him on bench or right or as a striker

There are about 10 teams I would be happy to say the same about this year. Atrocious standard from the bottom half, maybe even the bottom 12.

Creates illusions about where Utd are. Play a few rubbish teams in a row, get easy wins then back to reality when someone of competence comes around.

I feel like I need more from a centre forward than Lukaku is currently offering. I hope he gets better but he doesn't seem to be very aware of other players or the right positions to be in or how to move his feet quickly. I hope he improves.

Sanchez head and shoulders above everyone else. Hope Huddersfield gets relegated. Ref was hopeless.

Could've easily been 6-0 had we been a bit more clinical. I also have no idea how Huddersfield managed to finish with 11 men.

Love the 3 points.

Mata my man of the match even though he probably is slower than me!

Also thought once more, how on earth did we manage to lose to Huddersfield? I don't care if they were at home.

We were playing Huddersfield at home - presumed you watched a completely different match, the first half was anything but fluid. Mata had a good second half and Sanchez had a good game and can't be bothered with the rest..

Finally, someone who has got the balls to do quick turns and beat defenders while being pressured. Sanchez trully was a joy to watch today. Hope his confidence rubs off againsts the rest.

We've scored 76 goals in 38 games (2.00)

City 102 goals in 41 games (2.48)

Barcelona 86 in 36 (2.38)

Bayern 74 in 31 (2.38)

Napoli 64 in 32 (2.00)

Real Madrid 76 in 35 (2.17)

I think you're just wrong. And you should be probably visit specsavers.

Think even the ref must have realized it later. That foul was far worse than the one Sanchez got a penalty for, but the ref pointed to the spot immediately, without a second's thought.

That is what I felt at least. Trying to rationalize how someone could not give a foul for the McTominay foul.

Guess we have a chance to redo it in the fa cup if they win their replay.
Hope we do beat them badly at theirs if they win their replay. Horrible thuggy behaviour from them.

Encouraging second half performance

Sanchez really good at turning and facing the opposition goal, taking on players, something a few of his teammates could learn from.

Thought Lingard's movement was superb at times.

Wow. We definitely were watching a different game. We were always building up in the first half. We played well. Always constructive and building. This is despite the constantly getting basically hacked down and despite Sanchez being new in this team.

Yes, we are playing Huddersfield but it was a solid no nonsense performance. If you can’t enjoy and feel good about that team performance, I wonder how you get by week after week being a fan/supporter.

Sanchez MOTM. Everyone else played at the levels we are accustomed to seeing. Alexis is elevating our team.

I'm glad people are seeing now just how good Sanchez is.
When he first arrived, I don''t think fans realised who it was we were signing. I myself, couldn't believe we'd signed him - he is that good.
He should've had a penalty in the first half, too.
He has instantly become our best attacker (with Lingard blowing hot an cold).

With regards to the performance - it was "okay". Nothing special.

Onto the next game.
