Cristiano Ronaldo - performances 2017/18

Get yourself in the six yard box and you’ll score goals. If only our forwards understood that.

Admins, please rename title to Champions League GOAT

CR7 is out of this world :wenger:

11 goals in 7 CL games, surely the CL GOAT?

Big game player. Being that influential at the top end of the game at 33 is so impressive. Particularly considering the kind of player he was in his early career, all reliant on being explosive.

He actually reacted to the 2nd goal, brilliant goal scorer.

The best part of his game today was when Arreola came out his box to clear the danger, put it it out for a throw and Ronaldo sprinted towards the ball because he wanted a 4th. Pure desire, I don’t like him, I don’t think he has a claim as the best ever but I am in utter awe of his mentality.

I wonder how many other players would actually score that second goal. Looking at it, he clearly meant to hit it like he did. If he hadn't reacted, the ball would have bounced off him out of play. It is those instincts that make him one of the greatest finishers the game has ever seen. Sure, he will have droughts here and there, but so does every player.

He also looked very quick and agile again, clearly having recovered from his injury. I'm a little tired of the myths of a serious physical decline after the age of 30. Looking at Daniel Alves for PSG, at 34 he's still pretty quick, agile and has great stamina, and Ronaldo was always a notch or two above him.

Tough game for him and a few bad decisions but he did the business as usual. Most impressive thing about this game was the defensive work he did, he's much improved in that regard in comparison to his peak years. Benzema got whistled unfairly as he worked a lot for the team too.

Knew that was going to happen in the end  not doing much during the game but always in the right place at the right time, what a goal scorer .

Remember when people said he wasn't a big game player
Now just saves himself until the big stages come around and comes up big when he's needed.

Barca fan here so obviously can't stand him but damn I gotta take my hat off to him, the guy just doesn't feck about in the CL. Boring to watch these days and pretty uninvolved but when he gets his chance.. never in doubt.

Anyone else think he fouled Kimpembe just before his 2nd goal?
Looked like it watching it live but BT didn’t show many replays of it.

Do you have any evidence of this?

Sorry I don't. There was an xG comparison done by a stats company and they tweeted it out. They listed the top 20 xG in 2017/18 season and Ronaldo was in the top 10.

Never saw something like this before.
Surely this isn't possible to do on intention.

That desire is something our whole lot is lacking, he just has that killer instinct, senses when the opponent is vulnerable and wants to take the full advantage of it.

His movement is stunning. 2nd goal shows the value of making multiple runs if your first doesn't succeed. Kane is similar in that regard.
