A good ugly win.
Was it though?
Willian trying to read it. "Valentine's note?"Bailly is managing us now.
Martial was terrible apart from his assist, Matic was motm if it were not for our winner
But fair in his comments...Souness is absolutely gutted![]()
Really hope so, we need to use this as a springboard for the rest of the season. We got the result today but the performances have got to pick up from now on and really try and finish on a high because there's still pressure from those behind us and we can't afford to drop back into lacklustre form.Huge result against a top 4 rival and nice to see Matic and Lukaku performing like this. Hopefully the team gains more confidence from this result and put all the doom and gloom talk on pause for a bit. Continuity and a run of decent result is needed now.
I switched them off. Sorry now. That studio must have been like a morgue.Souness is absolutely gutted![]()
Was thinking of qouting match thread posts, firs 11,12 pages and realised it will be few hours long work, and gave up. Just gonna enjoy rest of Sunday.Someone must have tried to quote all the doommongering and there was too much of it
I think its an excellent sign that Pogba and Mou are on more or less the same page.Excellent second half all around, some of the best stuff I've seen from us in a big game since Mourinho. We managed to control the game, and even though we're still not clicking together in attack we at least looked like a unit of sorts, capable of creating something. Especially with Pogba on the ball, you always had the feeling that we could get that goal. And honorable mention to Lukaku, of course, who looked rejuvenated in that second half.
McTominay and Matic both did very well in the recovery phases, too, especially Matic who showed the best I've seen from him since August.
Also very noticeable was the change in approach when trying to close out the game. Instead of sitting deep and trying to soak up the inevitable waves of pressure, we stood up and managed to choke their build up. Why have we not done this before under Mourinho?! It worked very well, and Pogba's abilities on the ball were really utilised well to give us some reprieve. We could've easily created a good chance or two in that phase of the game, too, so I really hope that Mourinho intends to adopt a more proactive approach when a goal up, going forward from here.
Hopefully this will be the platform on which we build our resurgence, and end the season on a high note, both in the league and the CL.

I bet there are bunch of people who want Mourinho out, that are devastated right now.Poor lad must be devastated watching the club he loves defeat Chelsea and take second spot back in the process.
