Enjoyable match.

Played much better after Chelsea scored.
Lukaku excellent, especially loved the power run towards the end.

Valencia and particularly McTominay badly at fault for Willian's goal but McTominay had a good match otherwise.
Pogba did well, Matic much better second half. Lindelof still scares me. Young below par. Martial some nice moments, Alexis seemed a bit quiet. Lingard did well as sub.

We still have this general mentality to try to find the most difficult route going forward when playing simply and quickly would seem to be more advantageous. However, extremely happy and also got the correct score.
 
Lukaku superb. Lingard I love you.

Pretty dull match at times.

Matic was good. Martial was poor.

Well in Jose lad.
 
1st half was same old slow shit!

2nd half was brilliant all round.

- tactics spot on
-pogba ran the show
- Lukaku brilliant
- matic & Valencia bossed 2nd half
- mctominay gave Hazard nothing all game
 
Lukaku, Matic, Smalling all very good. Lingard good off the bench.
 
Unbelievably important victory! but very very inconsistent display.

Some pros and cons:

+Lukaku, one his best games of his united career. Solid.
+Pogba was good, back from the slump hopefully.
+Second half our ball playing was much better, maybe due to increased confidence.
+Mctominay and Matic


-Sanchez and Martial both had a bad game. There was good moments (the goal was a beauty) but overall they missed so many easy passes and lost possession.
- At times we looked still so bad at stringing passes together and pressing as a team (but it got better as the game progressed, which was nice to see). And the movement was abysmal in the center of the pitch in the first half and it has to change.
-De Gea was quite shaky today.
-Young was quite abysmal, I wish we see Shaw soon in starting Xi.

I think this was the best result we could get, we were far away from being perfect but there is much to be happy with. It is an opportunity to be better, to create something better for the next couple of months.

Onwards we go.

Defence was very good.

We weren't very good. Chelsea were equally poor. In isolation, this is the sort of match and performance that would be fine in the context of otherwise good football.

Really, our problems still exist, we seldom looked like scoring for the vast majority of the match and our desire in the first half was absolutely shambolic. The three points is great - and much needed. But our attacking football is still terrible and will cause problems going forward.

As for the players, Matic was brilliant today with a well-timed return to form. Martial criticism is baffling considering he was by far our best attacking player in the first half. Lukaku is continuing his good form which is nice to see. Lindelof looks measurably better on the left side of defence, too.

I did not see much of that to be fair, it was unanimous that we were poor first half.

Pogba showed signs of coming back.

McTominay played very well.

Big Rom needs to make this permanent.

Great result. Massive confidence boost for the lads.
 
Another to add to the growing list of games where Lukaku has bailed us out.

Team was better in the second half but still nowhere near good enough.

Liked the 4-2-2-2 formation. Jesse said we played with 2 #10s with Pogba occupying one of those positions and Sanchez/Lingard in the other.
 
I most impressed with Lukaku today, even though I think Matic was the MOTM.
Got a very important goal in a massive game and also created another, and he generally just played well
 
Feck yes! Much better second half, Lukaku man of the match and I love it since some people already had their knives out.

Off to get smashed.
 
fecking get in! Second half performance was great. Lukaku man of the match for me, cant ask for more than a goal and an assist. Matic bossed it in midfield and Pogba showed glimpses of the caliber of player he is. Big props to the kid McT who did not look out of place for most of the match. Three points against a direct rival, i'm delighted!
 
So important we won this. It wasn't pretty for the most part but thank God for this win. Lukaku is a beast.
 
Lukaku definitely the MOTM but Matic wasn't far behind. Nice to see the two former Chelsea players really step it up against their former club...
 
Lukaku fantastic, Pogba and Matic played well too. And Lindelof was pretty solid. This game really highlight's the need to sign an additional midfielder to support these two though.
