Premier League Gameweek 29 (3rd - 5th March 2018)

Why do people care for Chelsea? If they lose we're almost guaranteed top 4
I've just now realized 4th gives direct equal access to Champions League group stage.

Wow. Didn't think a team could be as disjointed as us in attacking at times but Chelsea have matched us today.

yeah, I'd say 90 to early 2000's I think after the invincibles it started to wane a bit (Arsenal kind of became media darlings because they were so pretty on the eye, like current City). I think as United became more efficient and Ferguson drifted away from 442 it wasn't as much. Of course the Tevez, Rooney, Ronaldo team too but that was drooled over on merit.

Your team that beat Mancini's City never got the credit it deserved imho. That City team was probably the most balanced and strongest team we've ever had (till this season). One of my big issues with Pelligrini was the way he disassembled that team and gradually made it weaker. For me that was one of Ferguson's best titles, because he beat a truly top City squad with a very average United one. Don't think there is another manager in football that could have done that. As you say that team got far less credit than deserved, even if they did look workmanlike.
Thanks for the good response, that's kind of how it felt to me too.

It is kind of funny, my commentators just described Barca v City as the 'dream final' for the CL. Not like there's a little known team to have just won the last 2 that might enter the conversation!!!

I'd be fecking fuming if I was a Chelsea supporter. City might be a great team but feck me, put some bloody effort in.

Which is why their Champions League campaign will be interesting.

Not dissimilar to Pep's time at Bayern. Dominant domestically, but took some beatings in Europe and never won the CL.

Just be nice to see a team not surrender before the game kicks off and attack the space. Much like Liverpool did. Unfortunately it was Liverpool, but was refreshing to watch. They're not being worked in the vast majority of these games.

Chelsea are genuinely playing like a plucky relegation threatened team trying to keep it tight with the hope of somehow nicking a draw. It's pathetic.

They’ve given up and City are cruising to full time.

It's just the hate for City. I'm happy with Chelsea losing points. I just would have wanted them to smash them a little bit. They've been too prudent.

Pathetic from Chelsea. We have endured some tough times in the last few years but never seen us look as disinterested as this at 1-0 down on a big game. Horrendous stuff from their players.

Barca supporters wouldn't know who to root for then. Their A team or B team.
Ha! It would at least ensure we'd not get a borefest like today. Would be quite fun to watch Barca beat them I must say.

Awful from Chelsea.

Media going on like City are unbeatable, and that blueprints haven't been set.

Chelsea are doing everything you shouldn't be doing against City. Disgusting performance!

i would sacrifice a few goats if it meant a 2% chance of us ever getting Sane

Remember people had a meltdown when we missed out on fecking Pedro

It was further exasperated when he had a good debut. Fun times.

Bollocks to how good city may to may not be, the standard of opposition they've faced throughout the season has been pathetic. Too many teams play them and simply accept defeat and look towards the next game. United didn't exactly cover themselves in glory here ether, so i'm not ignoring them.

City are great on the ball, but they can be exploited when not in possession due to the way they play. There is so much space there but teams set up so negative that they're unable to do it. It's even more ridiculous when you're talking about a top six team doing it against them.
I've been saying the same for ages. For all the possession it takes 2/3 passes to completely dissect their defence and have clear shots on goal. There aren't any teams in the PL good enough at the moment - United included - that can take advantage. The likes of Madrid, Munich will tear them apart in the CL with the chances they'll get.

Pedro is absolute garbage today. His role is crucial to Chelsea having any chance of a goal, but his delivery and composure have both been absent. Surprising tbh.

That's what's fecked Chelsea up, not sitting off City when they're playing triangles in their own half

Looks like Giroud has infected them with the arsenal mentality

Yeah, it’s weird and, frankly, pathetic. Can’t believe they just give up like that at 1-0.

Pedro has been very poor with his passing but at least he has put a shift in in terms of running. Hazard has been scandalous. Bloodsucker.

Tear them apart

Don't see it. City are playing within themselves today. Plus they're playing Zimchenko at the back. With Delph and Fernandinho coming back they'll be more secure.
