Chelsea 2017/18 thread - FA Cup Champs, League chumps

“Mourinho season” seems to have been his “Beetlejuice.”

For all his words about "working hard", Conte has given up on the club. The players have given up on Conte. Though they would have probably won 3-1 tonight if they had Costa leading the line.

Good chance Arsenal finishes 5th, they are having their usual strong end to the season which would get them 4th in other seasons, but works no longer. But not that it matters anyway.

Liverpool blitzed City. We showed huge fight to turn it around.

Chelsea strolled around, literally, at 1-0 down for the whole second half against them. They're a sorry lot, manager included.

Is it just me or is hazard one of the most overrated players in the league.

He is mentioned among the “big names” but whenever I watch Chelsea he’s virtually invisible and has next to no impact. I really don’t get the hype surrounding him at all.

Very much a Miki-type player to me. Better but still that sort of player.

We were neck and neck with them till January.
Utter collapse.

It's not just you. Fantastically skilled player, sure, but often times almost laughably ineffective

At his best he's as good as anyone in the league and among the best players in the world... But he's really inconsistent and generally plays in pretty defensive sides or managers with relatively negative tactics. He's overrated in that his bad form and non-impact games go understated, but then he's fairly rated in terms of how good he can be. He'd tear it up in an attacking side IMO

Hazard's overrated by some people who think a certain type of dribbling makes you more talented than other players with different skill sets.

Hazard is a very skilled player, however, he's also the first one to down the tools whenever he gets bored of the manager present and starts to sulk on the pitch like he doesn't care. His character is pretty terrible for such a superstar tbh.

Chelsea win = Hazard is incredible.

Chelsea don’t win = Hazard is overrated.

Come on guys, change the narrative. He’s an absolutely fantastic player. He would thrive at Real Madrid or Barca.

That’s actually a really good comparison tbh I’ve seen him produce good moments but he doesn’t do it consistently enough to be labelled an elite player.

Willian always nearly always impresses me and seems to Be Chelsea’s most dangerous attacker whenever I watch them.

He's unstoppable when on form, and will still pop up with a moment of brilliance even when things aren't going his way.

Their players have closed shop, like they have tendency of doing whenever they dislike something, and Conte seems to be waiting for the sack so that Italy can call him up. Wouldn't be surprised if they've got a contract agreed and ready to be signed already. Surprised Abramovich hasn't replaced Conte with Hiddink already.

I would love to see him along side Messi. They would be unstoppable.

The attitude of the Chelsea locker room seems disgraceful to be honest.

Hazard's end product hasn't been that good. He is good in dribbling, getting fouls, committing players, etc but he has not been that good at goals/assists over the season.
But I would not judge him based on this season. From the Chelsea matches I have watched this season, I can say that Chelsea attacks with so few players in the attacking third. Their 3 man backline formation is bulls**t, way too defensive. Until Baka stopped starting, they used to play with 5 defenders + 2 out and out defensive midfielders! 3 attacking players in the front have hardly any support.

See you have been brainwashed by the media then...

He's an unselfish winger who hit's the teens in goals every season, his end product is fine.

If you believe otherwise, good luck. I haven't seen anything to suggest otherwise at least.

So what do you see that gives you the impression Hazard is a bad egg in the dressing room? I can't wait to hear this.

Literally every interview or video i have ever seen him on he comes across as a humble guy with excellent character, some players yes i grant i could potentially see it, but if i was told one player was causing issues in the dressing room and had to guess who, Hazard's name genuinely wouldn't cross my mind.

If you want to see a Belgium player with a big ego, you could easily look closer to home.

That he has a season of being the best player in the league, the next season out of nowehen he starts to sulk around on the pitch and never cares when he loses the ball, then returns to become the best player of the league again out of nowhere and so on. Combine this with the state of the manager in charge being settled or closed to sacking and it's pretty obvious.

I won't say he's causing issues in the room, but he throws the tool and stop caring easily when the manager is about to get sacked.

Really? What particular expression he gives gave you that idea?

And he hasn't been 'sulking around' this season, September to December he was arguably in the best form of his career and in 15/16 he had a hip injury.

So, a team with a great record in a competition and has a 3-0 first leg advantage is playing a team who have never won it tonight.

And now he's sulking around, when the manager's psoition is on the risk and is about to get fired strangely Hazard form dropped massively. Strange both things happened together.

This kind of attitude is poisonous.

You could say that but then again not playing in Europe suited Chelsea down to the ground last season and was a big factor in them winning the league. They had more time to recover (which their style needed) and the rest of the league were clueless how to play against them for the most part.

Clever PR move as well to downplay it by reminding fans of their most recent success. But......they will be in the Europa at least so best of luck with that.

And....may be a great cover statement for him because itll probably be easier to bugger off to Madrid/PSG if Chelsea dont qualify.

i'll just leave this here

If you must "leave this here", at least format it correctly!

Where's your evidence? It seems like you are going by what you read in the daily star.

If we are going to play this game, United's players were hardly putting in the hard graft when Moyes and LVG were on the verge of the sack were they? So it's a little bit rich you getting on your highorse even if you are right.

Yes United players didn't trust Moyes and lost their respect for him as the season goes on. I have always thought that by the way. RVP went on and criticized Moyes tactics clearly in Media after Olympiacos loss. He had no personality in front of the players any more.

Conte has been asked about Courtois today. Answered it's not his problem.

"I've been listening to this question [On Courtois' future] for a long time and my answer is always the same," said the Italian.

"We are talking about a really good goalkeeper but this is a problem to solve between the club and Thibaut."

For awhile there, I thought Josh McEachran is still there. A relative?
