I don't think Real get calls in their favor more than any other club but the amount of times things go their way when it's right on the edge is absolutely unbelievable. Last year's quarter vs Bayern, the semi against Atlético when Atlético came raced to a two goal lead in the second leg, the two ginals against Atlético are but a few examples of how many times their games can go either way and yet somehow they manage to find a way. Luck, heritage of just the biggest cojones in football, I am not sure anymore.
Was it really that clear cut though? Oliver has a history of making flash judgements. I remember him sending Di Maria off for us for something not too dissimilar.
He's got to realise its the final seconds of a CL QF, emotions will be running high. Fair enough he awarded the pen, but sending Buffon off was way OTT. In my opinion anyway.

Frankly, the ref could have just sent off the wrong player and I still don't think its right when players rush the ref and scream in their face.
In the context of the situation, he probably shouldn’t have sent him off, well I wouldn’t have anyway, but that’s the rules unfortunately for Buffon.

The story is what happens. If Benatia didn't foul him, Vazquez would've been right in front, unopposed for a tap in. That's what the story is. Madrid were shit for 90 minutes but produced the moment at the end that Juventus were caught out. It's not bad luck conceding a penalty in the 93rd minute, it was shit defending and Vazquez was wide open and the only thing they could do was give away a penalty and hope Ronaldo misses.
I'd bloody love Roma to do it, and they're capable but they'll have to play 3 out of their skin matches. Realistically I hope Bayern can get there.
I think Liverpool would beat Bayern over two legs.

Not really, it wasnt as stone wall as people are making out. He was already falling over and the touch wasn’t enough to send him down like he did. Considering Oliver bottled showing golden boy at least one yellow for all that diving he was doing, it’s inconsistent to say he did the right thing at that point when he avoided controversy in other areas.

Okay? So should Ronaldo if we're going to mention anything. Point is anytime remotely controversial happens in the UCL the Spanish side (usually Madrid) seem to benefit from it. It's absolutely infuriating as a fan to watch it year after year.

If a player deserves a red card (any player that touches a ref deserves a red card), it doesn't matter a damn what game it is, what time in the game it is, or who it is.

So? We still didn’t struggle at all. The first 20 minutes in Sevilla were difficult. After that we didn’t break a sweat. Don’t try to undermine our performance to make yourselves feel better. Sevilla never had a real chance to progress. Especially tonight.

Really really soft decision in a game like that. But it's Real, so guess it's ok. Also don't understand how people think that would be a free goal for Lucas, far away from it and ge really just wanted that penalty once Benatia was close.
Roma for me. I'm just frustrated with the usual suspects making it to the semi-finals every year. At least this year we've got Pool and Roma making it through somehow. It's good for the game.

Makes flash judgements without a second thought. The better refs would have taken a second or two to mull the situation over before handing out consecutive red cards and penalties.

We don’t know what Buffon said to him. Even so, you don’t push the ref. That’s just stupid and already enough for a red card. Buffon should know this.
The pen was as clear as a mountain lake after the first days of spring.
Alternatively its the opposite of everything you say. Defender went through him, made contact, clear goal scoring opportunity denied therefore a penalty. Keeper verbally abused and made physical contact on the ref therefore a red card. Right decision both counts for me and brave reffing.
I still don't see how that was a penalty. If such a penalty was awarded against United I'd be fuming. If that sort of contact is enough then you could give about two dozen penalties in every game.
There's no doubt the refs are on their side. You don't really stand a chance. Everytime things get close the refs swing it their way again. The penalty was extremely soft. You can see Vazquez preparing to fall before the leg of Benatia comes in his direction. With the speed he was coming with from behind Vazquez had to end up falling further forward with that force. There may have been slight contact but not enough to warrant the fall that he made. He even looked around for the refs reaction. It's not acceptable for referees to ruin games in this manner. It's not a stonewall penalty. So why give it if there's some doubts? A BS call from Oliver.
