Last 10 finals, 6 times won by Spanish teams.
Liverpool winning the CL? feck no. Real getting beaten? yes please!
How did he ruin anything? He got the pen completely right. And watching Buffon there I‘m quite sure he gave him plenty of reasons to give him a red card. I’m actually impressed he had the balls to do the right thing.
Oh yes the straight red card for dissent. Probably insulted his mother. Come on, the push from him on the ref was absolutely minor and there's not a single phrase (other than racism) that should result in a straight red for anybody. Oliver just babied out. Look at his face during the situation. He's about to wet himself.
In the context of the situation, he probably shouldn’t have sent him off, well I wouldn’t have anyway, but that’s the rules unfortunately for Buffon.I have no clue what these posters have seen that DOESN'T warrant a Buffon red card.
I hadn't seen the foul until now, I'm just rantingCome on man. You had every right to be pissed off last season, but juventus don't. It was a clear penalty. Benatia should have been off ages before. He should have been off for that foul(instead he sends of buffon)
The story is what happens. If Benatia didn't foul him, Vazquez would've been right in front, unopposed for a tap in. That's what the story is. Madrid were shit for 90 minutes but produced the moment at the end that Juventus were caught out. It's not bad luck conceding a penalty in the 93rd minute, it was shit defending and Vazquez was wide open and the only thing they could do was give away a penalty and hope Ronaldo misses.I get the argument that's a penalty, but I just can't support calling it in the 93rd minute of a CL quarterfinal. Soft as hell, and destroys the story of what was an incredible tie.
So we are nearly at the point where we have a choice of either Madrid lifting a a third successive CL or Liverpool winning it.
I'm hoping badly for a Bayern vs Roma final.
I think Liverpool would beat Bayern over two legs.Liverpool favored over Bayern?
In a way it is.... You can't not make the right decision because of the "story".
This isn't theatre
Great decision from Oliver that and balls of steel to correctly give it and correctly send off Buffon.
Those having a pop at the ref are way off the mark.
Pretty sure if put yours hands on the ref at all he has the right to send you off.
They definitely have it in them. Would be an exhilarating two legs.I think Liverpool would beat Bayern over two legs.

Wrong refereeAh cheers , probably said “I bet youll get a new tattoo, “Gave real a penalty in the 97th minute”![]()
If a player deserves a red card (any player that touches a ref deserves a red card), it doesn't matter a damn what game it is, what time in the game it is, or who it is.Was it really that clear cut though? Oliver has a history of making flash judgements. I remember him sending Di Maria off for us for something not too dissimilar.
He's got to realise its the final seconds of a CL QF, emotions will be running high. Fair enough he awarded the pen, but sending Buffon off was way OTT. In my opinion anyway.
So? We still didn’t struggle at all. The first 20 minutes in Sevilla were difficult. After that we didn’t break a sweat. Don’t try to undermine our performance to make yourselves feel better. Sevilla never had a real chance to progress. Especially tonight. You needed two deflected goals to beat them.
yeah its incredibly annoying. At the stroke of 90 mins I was joking to myself expect a jammy momentI don't think Real get calls in their favor more than any other club but the amount of times things go their way when it's right on the edge is absolutely unbelievable. Last year's quarter vs Bayern, the semi against Atlético when Atlético came raced to a two goal lead in the second leg, the two ginals against Atlético are but a few examples of how many times their games can go either way and yet somehow they manage to find a way. Luck, heritage of just the biggest cojones in football, I am not sure anymore.
Roma for me. I'm just frustrated with the usual suspects making it to the semi-finals every year. At least this year we've got Pool and Roma making it through somehow. It's good for the game.So we want Munich or Roma?
Fecking hate BM, so Roma please
I wouldn't like to find out. A battering by Real followed by a CR7 & co shock loss to Roma in the final is my ideal scenario. They definitely have it in them. Would be an exhilarating two legs.
No it is not. Clear i mean. There is a contact. But soft. If there was lukaku it would not be penalty. Because he would stay on the feet. But because lucas has 60kg he went down.Vasquez didn't play for the penalty as he didn't see Benatia behind him. He clearly pushes him first before the leg comes across. It's a foul whichever way you look at it.
He's reffing the FA Cup semi.......Colossal twat of a man. He'll enjoy himself watching that on repeat after, but he did get both decisions right. The guy is just a cnut though regardless.
We don’t know what Buffon said to him. Even so, you don’t push the ref. That’s just stupid and already enough for a red card. Buffon should know this. Was it really that clear cut though? Oliver has a history of making flash judgements. I remember him sending Di Maria off for us for something not too dissimilar.

Remember when we all complained after the QF draw? Turned out alright.
Not really, it was as stone wall as people are making out. He was already falling over and the touch wasn’t enough to send him down like he did. Considering Oliver bottled showing golden boy at least one yellow for all that diving he was doing, it’s inconsistent to say he did the right thing at that point when he avoided controversy in other areas.
There's no doubt the refs are on their side. You don't really stand a chance. Everytime things get close the refs swing it their way again. The penalty was extremely soft. You can see Vazquez preparing to fall before the leg of Benatia comes in his direction. With the speed he was coming with from behind Vazquez had to end up falling further forward with that force. There may have been slight contact but not enough to warrant the fall that he made. He even looked around for the refs reaction. It's not acceptable for referees to ruin games in this manner. It's not a stonewall penalty. So why give it if there's some doubts? A BS call from Oliver.I don't think Real get calls in their favor more than any other club but the amount of times things go their way when it's right on the edge is absolutely unbelievable. To be fair, it was never with his hands, just his head.Unless you are Joe hart
It was a brilliant round, objectively speaking.Liverpool being one step closer to another European Cup is not cause for happiness.![]()
Not really. We didn’t even show up for the second leg. We did only what we had to do and made sure nobody got booked. Sevilla never had a chance.
