Cristiano Ronaldo - performances 2017/18

Balls of steel to emphatically pop that top corner the way Cristiano did.

That wait would have felt like an eternity for any player in the world and only he could have scored that in such a way without doubt...quite frankly, something Messi would never do.

Without a doubt, Messi would have missed that. I still remember his flop penalty in the Copa final in 2016 vs Chile. One of the worst spot kicks ever. Had a hearty laugh at how awful it was.

Follows it up by throwing a fit and retiring/quitting.

But Ronaldo is the one with a bad attitude. The hypocrisy and double standard

Balls of steel but the header to Vasquez was amazing too.

Hardly, it was a back post header against Alex Sandro. He can jump two feet higher than him, and the marking in the box was atrocious.

Deserves more credit for the little run he went on and knocked the ball one side of chiellini and ran round the other then won a corner, and got the crowd going.

He didn't have a performance like in the first leg but today we were playing a proper Juve side, so props to them for defending so good. That being said he still was our best attacker and one of our best players today, he never went absent and was always looking to score and showing desire. I saw him run all over the pitch, tracking back, recovering the ball, he even set up himself a through ball at one point while battling defenders.

So it was not an easy win for the team but with Ronaldo you know he's gonna generate something, today he set up Vázquez for that penalty play and there's no better player you want to take that penalty at that stage.

Yeah I agree with a lot of that.

Only downside @Acheron is he dived a lot, that’s as bad as he’s been for years at that. No need.

Is this guy taking something illegal? How the hell do you get that body at his age? Incredible. What a player. Simply GOAT

He might be getting on a bit in footballing terms, but 33 is not old. Nothing odd about having that physique.

is there any doubt now that Ronaldo is the greatest player in our galaxy ever?

Take care of yourself and work out? Look at guys in boxing and MMA. It's just hard work and dedication. Then you have guys like Rooney who had all the talent in the world but would rather get stuck into a kebab than the gym.

I'm pretty sure majority professional football players take care of themselves and work out but you need special genetics to look like Ronaldo/Zlatan.

Didn't Ronaldo so far score in all CL games this competition ? He's about to write another history if he scored in the next 3 games while winning it as well. Don't think any other player has scored in all CL games in one season.

Yeah, I think he needs to tone it down a bit like in today's match because even if he's been rigthtly fouled with exaggerating it's harder for the refs to call it. In fact the defenders would be obliged to make more blatant fouls although there are some refs that won't call them unless you dive so it's kind of a problem in both sides but going back to Ronaldo is frustrating at times when you think he could've done more even if he was being fouled.

Best not to mention the boxing and MMA lads in this context. They’re doped to the gills.

If you had told me that Cristiano would have a legitimate shout for being the greatest footballer of this era and being placed alongside the 5 kings of football in 2014, I would have laughed..yet here we are.

Zlatan isn’t that special aesthetically - he’s just got a very low BF %.

He is simply the GOAT I cant imagine football without him. Such an honor. Please come back to Sporting to complete the full circle ahahah.

Doesn't drink. Great nutrition.

As an aside, i genuinely hope he at some point goes to a plant based diet and can compare his fitness before and after . Would be great to have someone with his profile able to speak on it

How long do you reckon he can keep this level up? when will he drop to 20 goals a season which is still ridiculous for a player of that age when it does happen.

You are right but how is he looking better at 33 then 26.

It was reported that he toned down a little bit about a year or two ago, in order to maintain his pace/be more agile etc. He probably got less muscle mass these days, but he looks more lean/ripped.

It won't be a fair comparison because there is no way he would have this body with a plant based diet.

There is nothing to judge him against. He’s the greatest ever in terms of athletic ability in the sport, and whatever he does will set a precedent. He could do this until he’s 40, no one knows. Take everything you know about footballers bodies and mentalities and forget about it. It doesn’t apply to him.
