If only West Brom rolled over for them, like Swansea did for Shitty...
They did use the money to buy the most expensive defender in the World. Also, Coutinho wasn't their best player this season till the point he left. Their best player is the man they signed from their next opponents. I am not downplaying their achievement. Nobody expected them to reach the semi final initially but with the opponents they had (even City), it is not a big surprise that they are in the last four. I don't even consider us reaching the 2011 final a big achievement.I'd argue that it is. Losing your best player in midseason and reaching the Champions League semi with their budget is astounding. I have them as much as the next guy but I'm not sure why we are diminishing what they have done. They may get pasted by Roma, but they'll be satisfied with their progress.
West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi will not be charged after appearing to punch Liverpool's Danny Ings in Saturday's 2-2 Premier League draw at The Hawthorns.
Striker Ings complained the 27-year-old Egyptian jabbed him in the stomach after the pair tangled as they both attempted to head the ball.
Referee Stuart Atwell did not see the incident, so it was referred to an independent panel of three referees.
But they were not unanimous in the view it was a red-card offence.
It's similar to how Fergie planned to sell Ronnie because he didn't run enough.Didn't know where to put it but here it is. Interesting article by Diego Torres who claims that Klopp had planned to ditch Coutinho this season all along, and how Coutinho could not cope physically with his tactical demands. He implies that Liverpool had the last laugh by selling Coutinho to Barca for huge money, and that unlike Iniesta who used to be a runner, Coutinho wouldn't be able to fill those shoes.

Reads like a Liverpool propaganda piece tbh, but I have no idea whether it was intentional or not. Pretty interesting though.

If you think that reaching the CL semi final achievement of Liverpool is "astounding", then I wonder what's your adjective to describe Roma's achievement considering they had to sell their best players in the summer.
Oh and btw, if they get defeated by Roma, then they'll be disappointed. It'll be a missed opportunity to reach the finals.
Champions league they have had a charmed draw in the last 16 but did very well to put out City as they were the hype team along with PSG but we all know the top 3 big guns you want to avoid before the final is Bayern Madrid and Barca and not talking teams (media hype). They have another charmed draw in Roma (better if Anfield was second leg for them) but fair play to them they have a live chance to go through and the final is a one of game.

Also astounding. I don't think Roma expected to reach the semi finals, either. That doesn't take away from anything Klopp and Liverpool have accomplished.
I don't think they'll look back and think that they underachieved, no matter how they do against Roma. You're always disappointed when you lose. We were disappointed when we lost against Barcelona in the 2011 final, but it doesn't mean that we expected to beat them. They'd be disappointed for a bit, but look back and what they did with be pleased. That's just my take.
Where have I said that it does? For an United, you're very defensive of Liverpool.
Liverpool have had the easiest route to the CL semi but somehow have the most hype around them.
Klopp succeeded in finally having his teeth bleached. That gotta count for something. Also astounding. I don't think Roma expected to reach the semi finals, either. That doesn't take away from anything Klopp and Liverpool have accomplished.
It's definitely an achievement if you look at our team on paper and how much we've progressed under his reign. The managers you named are managing/used to manage teams like Barcelona, Real, Juventus or Bayern and yes, it's expected of them to reach the semis at least, that's not the expectation for Liverpool anymore. Hopefully Klopp is bringing that back though. Also winning the CL is an achievement, if getting to a CL semi-final is an achievement for Klopp then it shows that he is a second tier manager. Guardiola, Mourinho, Aleggri, Heynkes, Ancelotti expect to get to the CL semi final, and if they don't it's considered below par.

Diego Torres is a known fantasist.Didn't know where to put it but here it is. Klopp isn't a second tier manager, Liverpool has been a second tier club in terms of performances on the field for much of the last decade, compared to the first tier of the past five or six years (Bayern, Barca, Real, Atlético, Juventus).
Just as fastastic as Di Matteo and Louis Enrique. He's got very lucky with the draw and Salah doing something he never ever will come close too doing again.Clearly a fantastic manager.
“What a manager”?!All season this thread has been making fun of him, funny thread titles and all but the joke's on us if he gets them the CL. Even if he doesn't he clearly has something about him, what a manager. Know what he wants.
He's still a nothing special manager that has won almost feck all his entire career, got the luckiest and easiest draw ever.Redcafe almost had me convinced that he was a shit manager.
Getting to the CL final with this Liverpool team is incredible.
