Martial has got to remain at United | No, he hasn't been unfollowing United players on Instagram

Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea will be eyeing him. Came on without having played much lately, in a drab match with few chances he creates two: one which should have been put away by Smalling and one amazing cross for Fellaini who heads it onto the post from 2 yards out. Sanchez ran alot, what a tigerman. Hero.
It wasn't as clear cut as the Smalling and Fellaini chances, but he played a nice pass to Pogba on the edge of the box which, in my opinion, Pogba should've hit first time.

Your posts are gold

If it means that his annoying fanbase goes with him I would sell him tommorow. Never seen a United player that people overhype more, even when he does something ordinary like today.

Never had a fanbase among United fans that is more annoying.

Not getting bored of posting the same thing over and over?

didn't think he was that good when he came on. I expected more.
You expect more from Martial, but he created almost every chance we had since he came on, Sanchez didn't create one single chance the whole game and didn't look dangerous, Rashford likewise. I think when Lukaku got injured Martial should've gone upfront with Rashford going wide later, Martial has much better ball control, better touch and can actually hold off his man, hes quick with linkup (not always accurate) shame he never gets a chance at striker.

A fanbase among a fanbase, is that an Inception thing?

Agreed, by the way, the love Martial is getting right now is unwarranted.

Feels like he needs a move now. Think he's mentally checked out last few weeks.

Think he'd be a very good signing for many major clubs.

Agreed. He’s obviously an extremely talented player but extremely inconsistent and sulky when things aren’t going his way.

Sanchez can be having a bad game but you’ll still see him shouting at the other 10 players, keeping them focused. He is captain material, Martial is a luxury player as things stand.

I really hope Martial stays, I like him - but he’s not Lionel fecking Messi. Flashes of brilliance here and there.

When was the last time he sulked? Keep seeing this, but it doesn't seem like much more than a made up narrative.

seriously this really isn't a Sanchez v Martial thing. You don't need to obsessively compare the two, it is possible to support both players.

Also no I don't think he was that good. He did a couple of things well, and a couple of things poorly. He was average when he came on.

He'll be another Salah/KdB/Lukaku/etc. A young promising player that Mou for whatever reason can't rotate in. Sanchez has 3-4 good years left whereas Martial has 10+. No brainer who we should keep.

We really should have never bought Sanchez in the first place (hope we don't buy Toby Alderweireld because it'll be Sanchez situation 2.0)...

He certainly has the tools to unlock defences. He showed that today when he came on against Arsenal. I so much want him to be a regular starter for us. I believe this guy must be handled with care to get the best out of him. With that I mean Jose must give him a run in the starting line-up. It's no good playing him one match and then binning him in the next and then letting him just make sporadic appearances coming off the bench or being substituted. The talent's there for all to see!

Is that what this argument has come down to? Sánchez shouts and Martial doesn't?

Lukaku's injury has a chance to save us regarding keeping Martial.. depending on how serious of course. Play him up top or on the left (with Sanchez either top or left), and rashford on the right. Those 3 must play in lukakus absence, and that run of games might see Martial happy enough to stay. Let's hope!

We said the same thing about Nani and Anderson for years and they never amounted to anything more than talented but inconsistent. Martial is equally as talented as the aforementioned and just as frustrating. Personally I don't think he will ever reach his potential under Jose's guidance.

How long do we persist this time before we give up on him entirely, another year? Two? The longer we delay the inevitable, the lower his price tag will drop. Better to cut our losses and allow him to leave in my honest opinion.

What did he do today except for misplacing passes or losing the ball shamelessly. Can't wait to see the back of him if it means Martial FC fans go with him.

I can't understand how this is what you took from martial performance today, no mention of all the good he did and instead only talk about the negative, good job.

His dribbling was great today but the end product was not there. He continually picks out the wrong pass after he has beaten his man. As I have said before, he does not have football smarts and there is little hint that he will develop that intelligence. I would keep him one more year, though, but not be bothered if he moves on.

You're right. Shit ball he played into smalling and shit cross into fellaini. 2 shit shouldve been assists.

God forbid we have a player who actually takes on his defender.

Beats a man or two and then, if the shot isn't on, has no idea what to do. Some of his passes were atrocious. I want him at United but if he is intent on starting more games he needs to mature more quickly or go on loan to a smaller club.

Are you blind or somethin? He laid two chances on a fecking plate for Fellani and Smalling. Go watch the highlights.

The hardest part is beating the defender, if he can do it like he did today chances will come. Its not like every time he beats a defender a chance opens up, or he makes the right decision, but if he can keep on beating his man he will create chances just like today where he set up 2 really good chances and was involved in a lot of our play going forward.

Can't believe some posters are so critical of him today, when he had a positive impact on the game.

Did you see any of Sanchez's passes during the game? Passes are not always 100% accurate you know? i.e. if you've ever watched football or played (i'm guessing no)

Nani was arguably the best player in the league for like a season. Don't think that comparison is fair to Nani at all.

Martial's not come close to that.

You're referring to the year after Ronnie left presumably. Yeah Nani was excellent that year, but one good season doesn't make up for 7 distinctly average ones. Still a fair point, though.

Martial was brilliant in his first season at the club, he was our best outfield performer and pretty much the only bright spark to come from an otherwise dull season by United's standards. I think it's fair to say that a large portion of his 'fanbase' are placing their hopes on him reaching world class status purely on that first season. Since then, like Nani, he has been average to poor.

I don't know if it was LVG's negative influence and stifling tactical approach, Jose's poor handling of Martial post the Sanchez transfer, his fathers passing, or a combination of the three, but one way or another he isn't living up to expectation.

If I was his agent I'd advise him to leave for a new challenge.

I love his dribbling for the most part. He is one of those players, though, that dribbles when he should probably pass, passes when he should probably dribble, and passes to the wrong man most of the time (except for easy passes to retain possession). This is decision making and insight and Martial does not have "it" yet.

The ball to Smalling looked like an accident to me. If it wasn't an accident then I think the pass had too much pace. There is an art to perfectly weighting a pass and Martial seems to have no clue what that means. What about his pass directly to an opponent when there was no teammate within 5 yards. This is a classic case of he wasn't sure if he wanted to pass to the more advanced player or the one further back. His mind couldn't handle the decision so he tried to pass to both, lol. I'm pretty sure it was a decision error, not an execution error.

That's me done reading the caf today. Honestly, some of you guys haven't ever kicked a ball have you?

Yep agreed with this. The crux of the situation for me.

 Not at all - just amazed at your ability to berate a player who misplaced a couple of passes in 20 minutes while completely ignoring the other 3 passes he put on a plate. Takes a special kind of idiot to do that.

If I was told the only way Martial would stay at United was if we released Sanchez from his contract and said "bye bye", I'd do it without a second thought. I was way more excited about the future of this football club before we signed Sanchez. I wouldn't swap Martial for any other "young talent" in world football. Not Mbappe, not Dembele, not Asensio, not Sane.

PLEASE JOSE! PLAY THE LAD! THE LUKAKU-MARTIAL STRIKE PARTNERSHIP IS THE BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD!

If sliced bread is the only think you've tasted then yes.
