They'd have to put in whatever procedures and inform local businesses if a huge parade was to take place in the centre of Liverpool at any time, so this is normal practice and preparation from the authorities. Would you rather there were incidents caused by a lack of preparation if the parade wasn't pre-planned, yet went ahead spontaneously?

Nothing to do with the club, but it won't stop idiots moaning about tempting fate or whatever other irrelevant bollocks that ultimately would have no impact on the result.

Yeah I read something from Pearce afterwards explaining it.

I don’t see other clubs announcing victory parades before they’ve won a trophy so I wasn’t sure if it’s normal practice.
 
Clubs in big cities organise these parades before every cup final, they have to cause of the logistics.
Nothing new here at all.
 
Out of curiosity, which team do you people think has more to lose if it's beaten in the final?

If we’d finished 5th I’d have said us, but I don’t think a defeat is a disaster for either side. Madrid would probably see themselves as a much better side than us, which would make defeat a bigger failure for them.

I'm a United fan and have been since I was 4 years old.

I'm just not one for Tribalism, it's a football club. I don't get hurt when a team loses like United because well, it doesn't have a say in my life or my happiness.

Truthfully any fanbase can be annoying, part of us being human and having "teams" and tribalism means it fosters a "them vs us" mentality, I'm not an advocate of it.

I think Salah has been wonderful this year and I'd like to see him win the Balon d'Or, breaking the monopoly of Messi and Ronaldo will be great.
 
Considering yesterday was the first day of fasting for the ramadan, just wondering if anybody knows if Salah and Mane are fasting?

That could be a huge blow for them.
Daytime fasting, and night time game, not sure how will they cope with it.

I'm sure it' not the first time they are doing this, but it sure is the first time before a CL final.

Let's hope they'll be crushed.

A new crusade is on the rise.
Liverpool will be the mother port with raging scousers leading the way.

As I said I'm not in favour of Tribalism.

Much more to life than bitter rivalries. A team you follow doesn't define you, if this year is Liverpools year then I am happy for them, just as I will be happy when United win the next CL which is hopefully soon, it's been a decade now which is too long.

With Carrick retiring it's the last of the CL winning squad that has gone which is a truly sad moment.

Theres a FB page . Kyiv free couches or something. The people of Kyiv are opening up their homes to us all as most hoteliers have cancelled bookings and have hiked up the prices. This warms my heart.

Yes and I don't enjoy that part of the sport. So I don't really get bitter about other teams winning trophies.

I'm not also a fan of nationalism because it breeds xenophobia. I would much prefer people enjoy football for what it does, and football has the power to bring people together and not resort to petty insults, bitter rivalries and all the bad sides that go about it.

There's things so much bigger than the sport, look at SAF going through what he did two-weeks ago, the good part of the sport is when people put the differences aside, and just treat people like human beings as opposed to "you support this team I hate you now".

I really would prefer Liverpool to win it this year. They are a good team to watch Klopp is a great manager and they deserve a trophy, they've come really close in recent years.

Would I prefer Manchester United in the CL final? Yes I would but honestly, this year United haven't had the same ruthlessness infront of goal and have fallen just short.

I prefer the mantra of "humble in victory, gracious in defeat".
 
I think you're missing out on half the fun in the way if you don't get involved in the tribalism aspect, it would be all be a bit hollow and empty for me without it.

Jeeeeez. OT cops some stick for lack of atmos especially when at home to Bournemouth etc but ... imagine a stadium full of this.
 
I don’t think Man Utd fans tend to support the national team all that much, but if you could be told that if Liverpool win the champions league it means England will win the World Cup, would you take that?

In the hypothetical that Bosnia is in the world cup and I replace England in your question with Bosnia, would take it in a heartbeat. Though I'd take even a good showing and making it to the quarters to have a somewhat realistic scenario/comparison. For me, any national team achievements are probably the peak source of pride. Bosnia qualifying for the world cup alone in 2014 was probably on par with Uniteds CL win in 2008, that's how much it meant for me.

On the other poll in the other thread, I said that I would rather United and Liverpool both not win any trophies, than United win the FA Cup and Liverpool win the CL.

We've done our bit with aplomb, now its time for Liverpool to do theirs.

The only footballing thing that I'd be happy to accept for a Liverpool CL win is a United CL win.

I care a lot for the England national team. I think any English deep down inside would want England to do well no matter what, but I would never want Liverpool to win a major trophy even if it means my country wins the World Cup. Anyway this is such a hypothetical scenario. I'm obviously disappointed and upset at us losing the FA Cup but if this means Liverpool won't win the Champions League, I'd take it. Heck, I'd even take us on missing out on the league next season on goal difference to City on the final day just like 2012 if this means Liverpool won't win the Champions League. The Champions League is the most prestigious trophy in club football and the Scouse must never get their hands on it. Any Utd fan who wants Liverpool to win it is not a true Utd fan. You are either not from England or definitely not from Manchester for that matter.

I did not expect that strong club feeling. A World Cup victory happens once in a lifetime . The Champions is played every year and sooner or later you would win it too.

Indeed, fecking weird if you ask me. United can win 5 Champions League's in the next 10 years if it meant Belgium would become world champion next month.

My affinity country wise is probably not as strong as yours. So I'll take a CL win. A Belgium world cup and maybe just the one CL for United if we get a few league titles on top . :D
