Zinedine Zidane | Resigns

Talk about a bolt from the blue! I reckon he might end up at Juve one day somewhere down the line, but for now he's probably going to take a lot of time off, and nobody can say he doesn't deserve it. Went out at his peak.

I think Juve or the French NT.

He’s smart to leave now, he knows he can’t live up to the heights again.

You either die a hero, or live long enough to see yourself become the villain.

Really surprised people want him here.

Zidane left Real Madrid setting a new record; he is the first manager in Florentino’s era not to be fired. He’s the first to make the decision to leave.

Another Champions League win has hidden it well but they have an ageing team that finished third, 17 points behind Barca. I'd fancy doing a disappearing act as well.

My suspicion is whoever is manager next season is getting sacked and he's made sure that fate won't be his.

Bale and Ronaldo being so vocal about not being happy after a final was weird but maybe this is a deeper insight into what they weren't happy about.

The way I see it is that the players rule the roost there. I reckon theres been an almighty bust up behind the scenes. Zidane has taken it personally and knows the require a huge rebuild very soon and thought “feck this, I don’t need this shit!” and off he goes

France should sack Deschamp now and get him, will be favorites for the WC

What a clever man. He knows they wont win another CL and La Liga is big question mark too, with ageing players. So he leaves as a big boss. On the top. Clever man. Rebuilding RM? Meh, too much work, long time, why mess up all he's done by now.
And Bale stays there. (hopefully) Brilliant. Great news this.

No idea where he’d go. He isn’t going to find the quality of player he had at Real elsewhere, and he might actually have to coach/manage as opposed to stand there and be Zidane, and that wouldn’t end well.

Yeah, it might look as something out of the blue with the euphoria last weeks, but talks already back in February were saying that Zidane would resign even if he won the UCL, his cup/league form this season were really bad. Neither the club or Zidane probably want to have another season like this, and eventually getting out of the CL in R16 or QF, that would be a disaster.

Still, class from Zidane to recognize it was the right moment to step down, and class from Real Madrid to let him go, at this point most clubs have already taken their manager for next season, this puts them in a slightly disadvantage position.

France or Juve spring to mind, after a break.

Definitely could see him taking over France, would be a perfect fit. They just need someone to motivate and put in the team logically and make a balanced side, the players could probably play by themselves tactically to an extent. Imagine him going there and winning the euros and the World cup after this. Biggest footballing legend of all time.

Could this be anything to do with Ronaldo or the Bale exit talk? Maybe Perez forced Zidane to start the pair and he walked instead?

Smart move by Zidane. Jump before you're pushed. Incredible 3 years from Zidane, cracks were starting to appear though probably thats why he left. Madrid need to invest heavily otherwise Barca will walk the league again

I think Real starts as favorites for the CL next season.

He's got no one to blame but himself, if your going to play football manager for 3 seasons and not even save once then of course when you accidentally resign it's going to royal feck you over.
Wow man, you need to explain / elaborate a little more, I have read your comment 3-4 times but couldn't understand what you are trying to conclude.

Thinks he's taken them as far as he can.

Smacks of throwing the team under the bus to me - he knows they need to replace Ronaldo, Benzema, and probably Bale to maintain the success in Europe and catch up to Barca in the league.

Hopefully we can get him on a pre-contract for 2019, he's a top manager.

He's timed this resignation to absolute perfection.

I think Madrid actually need a pretty big overhaul in the next few years and it'll take a lot of work.

He gets to go out here at the absolute peak of his powers.

He's a very very smart guy.

Zidane’s a winner.

He just walked away from a prime aged Real Madrid team coming off back-to-back-to-back CL titles.

Why the feck would he ever want to come to United, to win a FA Cup?

More to this then meets the eye.. you don't just quit at the biggest club in the World.. it is a club which gets rid of you.

I reckon Ronaldo and the players pushed him. Not happy with him.

Zidane knows Real Madrid are very unlikely to win 4 CL in a row so he's smart to go while he stock is high.. but I still don't think he's a GREAT manager. He was the perfect fit at the time for Real Madrid.. can't see him replicating his success with other clubs.

So you think he should only manage PSG, Juve or Bayern?

Cause our ambitions would match his. You think we are happy with just the FA Cup?
