What consequences? Moving a different department and constantly being cleared by courts of any wrongdoing? There have been hundreds of examples in this thread alone where police officers do something objectively horrific and get a holiday as a result.

That's not their problem either. If local counties and city governments tolerate cops getting rehired elsewhere then they are going to move to different departments since they do ultimately have to earn a living. These are all failures in governance that have to be adjudicated at the national, state and local levels.

Jesus christ dude, that's the point we're making. Police officers face no consequences for their actions. We're not ignorant of who will dishing out the consequences.

Then there's no debate here. We both agree that cops who break the law should be prosecuted.

Both. Punishment is on a case by case basis depending on what happened during each incident. At a societal level, we need to look at why the US is the only advanced country that has this problem, look for more successful approaches elsewhere, and see if they can be applied in the US.

It's baffling how there were multiple officers with body cameras and I'm sure someone saw the surveillance camera in the building, and they still did that. There's no legal backing for the use of force they used. It definitely is another case of "he was disrespecting me and my badge by not listening to me".

They may have seen the cameras elsewhere and assumed there weren't any at the location where the incident took place. That or they simply so worked up that they didn't care.

Yeah, still very stupid. My dept doesn't have body cams yet, but there are lots of surveillance cameras throughout our patrol areas. I tell newer officers to always conduct yourselves as if someone is recording you, and you won't get in trouble.

I forgot they had body cams. In that case they obviously didn't care about surveillance cameras at the location since they knew they were being taped.

I totally agree with the ‘worked up’ aspect, almost a sexual release for the assiliant cop.

It is also shocking how the cnut who threw the blows goes from zero to 100, knocks the victim unconscious, then appears completely calm immediately after, seems to be no big thing.

Defendant: he was stood up, I thought he was going to attack me.

Judge: oh wow, he was stood up? Case dismissed.
 
I just can't understand why these officers are approaching situations like the girl on the beach, or the guy leaning against the wall in such a hostile manner. Neither would have been suspected of committing any serious offence and neither are armed. Rather than treat them like human beings or with any respect whatsoever, they needlessly create bad situations by being hostile and aggressive. They should all have their badges taken away because they clearly lack the emotional intelligence or personality to be good police officers.

What is worse is that despite the clear evidence of them acting entirely inappropriately, they'll serve a tiny suspension whilst they conduct a face-saving investigation that usually clears them of any wrong-doing. Until police officers are held to higher standards and actually punished for this sort of behaviour... where's the deterrent? The cops beating that guy for not sitting down should all lose their jobs and face criminal charges.

If you look at the murder rates in these areas then the cops do have some justification to be on guard or on edge at least. Not that I'm justifying police thuggery if you see my previous post.

We're talking 20-60 murders per 100k in parts of US. US on average is around 5 per 100k
UK/Europe is 1 per 100k. Some areas in the US are incredibly dangerous.

These white gun owning areas you cite don't have murder rates of 60 nor 25 nor 5 even. Bringing it down to simply white gun owners and black gun owners is being disingenuous.

black people who don't live in those areas face the same issues, so that in itself doesn't explain it either

Im not saying you're wrong about the danger in certain areas but I don't fully trust most of the crime data that's reported in this country. Many times the data is misleading, incomplete or certain information is blatantly left out. On top of that there is a lot of misleading and I'll give two towns in Georgia as prime examples. Canton and Bremen GA are both predominantly white towns and considered among the safest towns in the state but the data on the crime rates there don't reflect the truth. Canton has a 'secret' or unofficial chapter of the Outlaws MC and there's way more shootings and murders there than are being reported. I know people who live there. If you google 'Canton GA murder' you will see the latest story about a double homicide that led to the arrest of 13 members of the blood gang.

What you won't see is the story about a triple homicide that occurred just a few months earlier at a bar called Bodocks (the meeting place of the aforementioned unofficial chapter of the Outlaws MC). The vics were white and so were the suspect perps who haven't been found to this day. The bar closed recently. Its almost shocking how blatant the cover up is. You won't find any news article related to that shooting anywhere. There's however mention of how the gangs from Atlanta are bringing crime but never a mention of how the Outlaws (which is a white Motorcycle club) are supporting the local drug industry. This club is heavily monitored by the FBI and the ATF nationwide. The same happens in Bremen where teenage drug use has been an epidemic since the 90s. There are several drug related murders there that have gone unreported since they developed a program called BRIDGE ( Bringing Rescue into Drug Gripped Environment) in 2007. They are trying to make people believe that things are getting better but the relatives of the victims know better. The City of Bremen has its violent crime stats at 1.77 per 1000 while Canton has there's at .95 which most people who live there will laugh at. This happens throughout the country in similar communities
