Day 5: Sweden vs South Korea, Belgium vs Panama and Tunisia vs England (19H00)

I just hope that Young is dropped and Rose starts from now on.

All that Young mostly does is check back and play the ball backwards. It's so easy to stop him because the defender knows he won't try and go past him to cross the ball with his left foot.

Did they bollocks.

Yep they should've been 4 down after half an hour.

I got shouted down for daring to suggest Egypt deserved a point v Uruguay so no way Tunisia should've got one when they were far more dominated. Even with England poor in second half they hardly had a shot at Pickford.

The result is what matters. Other teams are sweating on the next game. England deserved the win. Tunisia, the ref and VAR got what they deserved.

Not for me. A lot of teams get praised for scraping out draws by throwing ten men behind the ball. I don't believe that should be the case. When you set up to invite pressure, constant pressure, and you offer absolutely nothing going forward on the counter-attack, then my belief is that you deserve exactly what you were willing to risk. Nothing.

They completely neutralized England in the second half, created nothing until the goal. By half time England should have been winning by a few but after half time 1-1 wouldn't have been unfair. They deserve a lot of credit for how they got their shit together, by the 15th minute mark I thought England were going to score 10.

Vardy is great, hated him at first, but i respect him now

Not sure why Vardy should be unlikable. Walker and Alli look to be the only unlikable players in this England squad.

I quite like Vardy, prove himself to me more than a one season wonder.

I don't mind Vardy to be honest, seems like a bit of a lad.

You mean that 5-3 game ?

That Rafael dive was a joke, but really the ref should have taken the majority of the blame for that, abysmal reffing. I hadn't realized Vardy was so popular, I suppose as a story he has a great one, my dislike is as irrational as simply not liking his face. Reminds me of a guy I grew up with who turned into a total arsehole. Makes no sense but there you go.

I have simpathy if your team isnt full of cnuts and completely ruining the game with fouls, time wasting, dives and faking injury. Iceland for example are defending, but arent cnuts. Tunisia are shit though and just didnt win over any neutral fans by ruining the game with their tricks

England fans on the Caf - no disrespect - are a negative bunch. If there is sunshine today, you are more concerned with the fact that there is a 50% chance of precipitation tomorrow. Plenty of "big" countries will not go far this year. England probably won't win it. So why not just enjoy the thrill of an injury-time winner, and look forward to the next game, without worrying about a potentially embarrasing exit (which might happen) somewhere down the line?

it was youngs corner that led to our first goal.

I agree, but he is defensively very solid which is why we might be playing him. Is annoying to not have any width down that side though.

Don't think Rose should start over Young but I definitely think those two should be subbed interchangeably depending on March conditions

You mean after the reaction you got you'll pretend to make out that you were trolling. We get ya mate

Haha. I’m against anti football. Was praying for a draw or a last minute Tunisia winner but there was only one team even trying to play for 75 minutes there.

Is it just me or do England always seem to win when BBC show the games and the cock up games happen on ITV far more frequently?

Would be interested on the stats last 20 years on how well England have done on each channel?

I remember only euros game they won v Wales was on BBC and think ITV showed the other three games.

Adjusted for some kind of ranking of the teams played, I assume the differences are very slim - as they are with all myths and gut feelings :)

you are against anti football, but was praying for a draw and a last minute Tunisia winning? So the team playing anti football was the team you wanted to win, or get a point? Got ya.

Clearly England deserved the win. The next ref won’t be so lenient when Kane gets manhandled again, surely.
Can VAR pick up incidents and notify ref to review them?

Genuine question cause I thought they can (or heard one of the commentators mention something similar).

Young, Kane (for his match-winning goals), Lingard (minus finishing), Trippier, Maguire, Henderson - speaking impartially, those were good tonight and should comfortably stay put.

Against it in the sense that I can identify it and tell you who Deserved to win the game.

Maguire made a couple of hospital passes but brought the ball out well and is excellent at winning headers in the opposition box and then playing them into dangerous areas.

you talk shit mate. Want a bigger spade?

What don’t you understand? Obviously England deserved the win and obviously I couldn’t care how any team grinds out a result if it affects England?

Yes they are watching right through the game and are supposed to tell him if anything needs looking at. Both the ref and VAR were a disgrace tonight.

The part where you said you are anti football but wanted a tunisia win

I liked how fearless he can look at times, thought he was easily the most commanding of the three and if I were to guess watching them for the first time I'd say it's him who's got the experience.
