It's actually crazy how focused, confident and relaxed he looks. Doesnt look nervous or under pressure in the slightest, just like he knows this is his tournament and hes going to kill it.

Not really true. It really looked like he didn't give a feck for Real Madrid during large parts of this season.

Their argument wont ever be settled... certainly not in the group stage. If one inspires the team to win the world cup, then they are the favourite, but Messi did this in the last world cup and got to the final but ultimately lost.

Even if he doesnt win the WC, I would say he has been more consistent than Messi, including at international level over the last 3-4 years.

Whether he's the greatest or not, Ronaldo's plays like he knows he's the greatest. He's misplacing five yard passes and still strutting around like a cock - and I mean in that in the positive sense of the word. He's just oozing confidence.

I dont think he has to. Messi has not won it. His performances at international level has been better than Messi IMHO.
Preferring Messi’s style of play is a different issue. It doesn’t necessarily make him better than Ronaldo.

He's already along with Messi the greatest ever player to grace the game. My opinion is Ronaldo is the best, others will be Messi and that's always how it will be, opinions on those two.
Imo there is no clear no.1 therefore you can put 2/3 players on that same level. Won't name names so i don't derail the thread.
Ofcourse these rankings are subjective everyone will have their own list.

I’m not getting into the debate either but you’re bonkers if you think that rating Messi over Ronaldo is something which is only predominant amongst fans of Barca or Liverpool.
Unfortunately for Ronaldo, Portugal simply aren't good enough to win the WC. For me he is top 2 all-time even without it.

No but I would say they are the only fan bases who would exclusively rate Messi as better, from my experience. In other words they would be the last to turn and acknowledge Ronaldo as better.
I’d say it’s fair to say Messi has the more aesthetically pleasing style but objectively Ronaldo has had a better career to date.
All-time best? Well, neither will win what Maradona or Pele did on the International level but surely these two are the best club players ever with perhaps a outside chance of Di Stefano.

I think Ronaldo was mailing it in earlier in the season saving himself for the Champions League KO stages and the World Cup. He’s Balon D’Or crazy at this point.
It'd be beyond bonkers if Portugal won the World Cup....they look absolute dire more than half the time, Euros was arguably a bigger fluke than Greece, since Greece actually looked like a strong unit doing what they intended to do....it was just horrendous at times with Portugal. You can see it today too....against Morocco it makes sense that Ronaldo can pull them over the line. But they'd likely need a few big France-esque bottle jobs to win this on top of the luck on top of Ronaldo pulling them through the KO's, or just getting to pens.

But then this Portugal side is nowhere near that German team.
I also think modern day CL is harder to dominate but its still ridiculous all the same.
