England Discussion | Finish 4th

Have you been living under a rock for the last 4 years? It's hardly arrogance to think that Kane might well prove the difference: there isn't a more focused, more dedicated and more driven player in world football … and his goal-scoring record is phenomenal.

I fancy England to win tonight in a high-scoring game.
Cristiano Ronaldo.

It's a shame as you want to win by beating their best team and not have people saying 'oh well, if James was there it'd be closer'.

This is the best chance England will ever get to a clear and ‘easy’ path to the final.

Come on England, don’t live up to the disappointments which you have always been, let’s have something to celebrate for this summer.

We should win tonight, there really is no excuses if we don't. We will never get a better chance to do something in a world cup with this bracket. Croatia in the semi would be 50/50 on paper, but Colombia & Sweden really should not beat us. After a lifetime (for me) of failure though it's hard not to assume a bottle job. Especially with our core being Spurs players.

Hopefully we can break the ITV curse tonight.

Look on the bright side...Falcao will be nervous as hell having to play against a team full of Englishmen after his stint in the PL. He ll go back to loveable but can't nick a goal Radamel.

I'm more fearful that he'll have a point to prove & go beasting & feasting against our lightweight back 3 & dodgy keeper.

feck I hate nerves.

Anyone else think Butland would've been a better shout? He just seems calmer. Maybe it's just me.

An English pundit really said England will beat Sweden 99/100? And you wonder why people call you arrogant...

Comfortably win for England, piss poor side from Columbia. Going big on England, off to the local bookie. :)

LOL. He tore Stones a new one for Monaco at the Etihad in 2016/17. Stones won’t have forgotten that roasting in a hurry.

James not even in the squad, that's great for England. 2-1 maybe 3-1 with a Pickford/Walker howler. Think Kane, Lingard will score and Sterling might break his duck tonight.

That's possible. Just make sure your fridge and liquor cabinets are well stocked. You still have 25 min or so to run to the corner store.

Good luck to England, they will need it. They have the better squad, but mentality is key. Pickford and the defense havent convinced me so far

Space behind the English wingbacks is going to be key. If Columbia get the better of that battle, like they did against Poland, it could be a nervous night for England.

midfield to be key as well. lets see how much help Henderson gets with Alli and Lingard. Was hoping Southgate would start the game with an extra man like Loftus Cheek or Dier in midfield. Henderson could end up being overrun.

Disagree there buddy, think England would win 4-5, Sweden 1-2 and 4-5 or so draws/pen's.
Ahh yeah I mean't under a 'must be a winner' golden goal type rule. Yeah, I'd agree with your assessment.

Obviously in the event of penalties, Sweden win 100 times out of 100 haha.

Hopefully for England Man Shitty Sterling will actually show up today for the first time this tourney. Don't see any wc glory without him kicking it into high gear.

That'd be Nemanja Matic.

He's not more driven than Ronaldo and never will be so there.

Smalling is crap with the ball but I'd rather have him in the back for these kinds of games. Maguire has looked nervous and Walker doesn't convince me as a CB at all.
